On the dimension of affine subspaces of nilpotent matrices

The focus of the paper is on the maximal dimension of affine subspaces of nilpotent n x n matrices with fixed rank. In particular we obtain a result in the "border" case rank equal to n-1; we also consider the much simpler case rank equal to 1.

Higher dimensional worm domains

We show how to construct a class of smooth bounded pseudoconvex domains whose boundary contains a given Stein manifold with strongly pseudoconvex boundary, having a prescribed codimension and D'Angelo class (a cohomological invariant measuring the "winding" of the boundary of the domain around the submanifold). Some open questions in the regularity theory of the $\overline\partial$-Neumann problem are discussed in the setting of these domains.

A Note on Chern-Yamabe Problem

We propose a flow to study the Chern-Yamabe problem and discuss the long time existence of the flow. In the balanced case we show that the Chern-Yamabe problem is the Euler-Lagrange equation of some functional. The monotonicity of the functional along the flow is derived. We also show that the functional is not bounded from below.

Remarks on Chern-Einstein Hermitian metrics

We study some basic properties and examples of Hermitian metrics on complex manifolds whose traces of the curvature of the Chern connection are proportional to the metric itself.

Positive projectively flat manifolds are locally conformally flat-K\"ahler Hopf manifolds

We define a partition of the space of projectively flat metrics in three classes according to the sign of the Chern scalar curvature; we prove that the class of negative projectively flat metrics is empty, and that the class of positive projectively flat metrics consists precisely of locally conformally flat-K\"ahler metrics on Hopf manifolds, explicitly characterized by Vaisman. Finally, we review the properties of zero projectively flat metrics. As applications, we refine a list of possible projectively flat metrics by Li, Yau, and Zheng; moreover we prove that projectively flat astheno-K\"ahler metrics are in fact K\"ahler and globally conformally flat.

Toric extremal Kaehler-Ricci solitons are Kaehler-Einstein

In this short note, we prove that a Calabi extremal Kaehler-Ricci soliton on a compact toric Kaehler manifold is Einstein. This solves for the class of toric manifolds a general problem stated by the authors that they solved only under some curvature assumptions.

Treelike quintet systems

Let $X$ be a finite set. We give criterion to say if a system of trees ${\cal P}=\{T_i\}_i$ with leaf sets $L(T_i) \in {X \choose 5}$ can be amalgamated into a supertree, that is, if there exists a tree $T$ with $L(T)=X$ such that $T$ restricted to $ L(T_i)$ is equal to $T_i$.

Moduli space of families of positive $(n-1)$-weights

We show the geometrical structure of the moduli space of positive-weighted trees with $n$ labels $1,\ldots , n$ which realize the same family of positive $(n-1)$-weights and we characterize them as a family of positive multi-weights.

On Chern-Yamabe problem

We initiate the study of an analogue of the Yamabe problem for complex manifolds. More precisely, fixed a conformal Hermitian structure on a compact complex manifold, we are concerned in the existence of metrics with constant Chern scalar curvature. In this note, we set the problem and we provide a positive answer when the expected constant Chern scalar curvature is non-positive. In particular, this includes the case when the Kodaira dimension of the manifold is non-negative. Finally, we give some remarks on the positive curvature case, showing existence in some special cases and the failure, in general, of uniqueness of the solution.

On cohomological decomposition of generalized-complex structures

We study properties concerning decomposition in cohomology by means of generalized-complex structures. This notion includes the $\mathcal{C}^\infty$-pure-and-fullness introduced by Li and Zhang in the complex case and the Hard Lefschetz Condition in the symplectic case. Explicit examples on the moduli space of the Iwasawa manifold are investigated.

On the geodesic problem for the Dirichlet metric and the Ebin metric on the space of Sasakian metrics

We study the geodesic equation for the Dirichlet (gradient) metric in the space of Kaehler potentials. We first solve the initial value problem for the geodesic equation of the combination metric, including the gradient metric. We then discuss a comparison theorem between it and the Calabi metric. As geometric motivation of the combination metric, we find that the Ebin metric restricted to the space of type II deformations of a Sasakian structure is the sum of the Calabi metric and the gradient metric.

Cohomologies of generalized complex manifolds and nilmanifolds

We study generalized complex cohomologies of generalized complex structures constructed from certain symplectic fibre bundles over complex manifolds. We apply our results in the case of left-invariant generalized complex structures on nilmanifolds and to their space of small deformations.

On minimal Legendrian submanifolds of Sasaki-Einstein manifolds

For a given minimal Legendrian submanifold $L$ of a Sasaki-Einstein manifold we construct two families of eigenfunctions of the Laplacian of $L$ and we give a lower bound for the dimension of the corresponding eigenspace. Moreover, in the case the lower bound is attained, we prove that $L$ is totally geodesic and a rigidity result about the ambient manifold. This is a generalization of a result for the standard Sasakian sphere done by L\^e and Wang.

On Calabi extremal Kaehler-Ricci solitons

In this note we give a characterization of Kaehler metrics which are both Calabi extremal and Kaehler-Ricci solitons in terms of complex Hessians and the Riemann curvature tensor. We apply it to prove that, under the assumption of positivity of the holomorphic sectional curvature, these metrics are Einstein.

A vanishing result for strictly p-convex domains

In view of A. Andreotti and H. Grauert's vanishing theorem for q-complete domains in C^n, (Th\'eor\`eme de finitude pour la cohomologie des espaces complexes, Bull. Soc. Math. France 90 (1962), 193--259,) we re-prove a vanishing result by J.-P. Sha, (p-convex Riemannian manifolds, Invent. Math. 83 (1986), no. 3, 437--447,) and H. Wu, (Manifolds of partially positive curvature, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 36 (1987), no. 3, 525--548,) for the de Rham cohomology of strictly p-convex domains in R^n in the sense of F. R. Harvey and H. B. Lawson, (The foundations of p-convexity and p-plurisubharmonicity in riemannian geometry, arXiv:1111.3895v1 [math.DG]). Our proof uses the L^2-techniques developed by L. H\"ormander, (An introduction to complex analysis in several variables, Third edition, North-Holland Mathematical Library, 7, North-Holland Publishing Co., Amsterdam, 1990,) and A. Andreotti and E. Vesentini, (Carleman estimates for the Laplace-Beltrami equation on complex manifolds, Inst. Hautes \'Etudes Sci. Publ. Math. 25 (1965), 81--130).

Geodesics in the space of K\"ahler cone metrics

In this paper, we study the Dirichlet problem of the geodesic equation in the space of K\"ahler cone metrics $\mathcal H_\b$; that is equivalent to a homogeneous complex Monge-Amp\`ere equation whose boundary values consist of K\"ahler metrics with cone singularities. Our approach concerns the generalization of the space defined in Donaldson \cite{MR2975584} to the case of K\"ahler manifolds with boundary; moreover we introduce a subspace $\mathcal H_C$ of $\mathcal H_\b$ which we define by prescribing appropriate geometric conditions. Our main result is the existence, uniqueness and regularity of $C^{1,1}_\b$ geodesics whose boundary values lie in $\mathcal H_C$. Moreover, we prove that such geodesic is the limit of a sequence of $C^{2,\a}_\b$ approximate geodesics under the $C^{1,1}_\b$-norm. As a geometric application, we prove the metric space structure of $\mathcal H_C$.
