We provide a correct proof of arXiv:1607.03431, Theorem 5.2 in dimension 4. More precisely, we show that the integral cohomology of the generalized Kummer fourfold is torsion free.
We describe the integral cohomology of the Generalized Kummer fourfold giving an explicit basis, using Hilbert scheme cohomology and tools developed by Hassett and Tschinkel. Then we apply our results to a IHS variety with singularities, obtained by a partial resolution of the Generalized Kummer quotiented by a symplectic involution. We calculate the Beauville--Bogomolov form of this new variety, presenting the first example of such a form that is odd.
We study cup products in integral cohomology of the Hilbert scheme of $n$ points on a K3 surface and present a computer program for this purpose. In particular, we deal with the question, which classes can be represented by products of lower degrees.
The Beauville-Fujiki relation for a compact Hyperkähler manifold $X$ of dimension $2k$ allows to equip the symmetric power $\text{Sym}^kH^2(X)$ with a symmetric bilinear form induced by the Beauville-Bogomolov form. We study some of its properties and compare it to the form given by the Poincaré pairing. The construction generalizes to a definition for an induced symmetric bilinear form on the symmetric power of any free module equipped with a symmetric bilinear form. We point out how the situation is related to the theory of orthogonal polynomials in several variables. Finally, we construct a basis of homogeneous polynomials that are orthogonal when integrated over the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^d$, or equivalently, over $\mathbb{R}^{d+1}$ with a Gaussian kernel.
