Pressure-induced Superconductivity in Thermoelectric Semiconductor Mg3Sb2

The intrinsic electronic structures of narrow bandgap thermoelectric (TE) materials serve as a platform for the investigation of coupling effects of quasi-particles under high pressure, enabling the exploration of emerging electronic and phonon transport, superconductivity, and topological transition. Here, we report the discovery of pressure-induced superconductivity in the TE semiconductor Mg3Sb2. Upon the increased pressure, the metallization occurs at 8.7 GPa, followed by a superconducting transition concomitant with a carrier-type crossover from p- to n-type. This phenomenon arises from a pressure-induced structural phase transition from the semiconducting P-3m1 to the metallic C2/m-I phase. The superconducting critical temperature (Tc) exhibits a dome-shaped pressure dependence, peaking at 3.3 K at 12.6 GPa. Combined theoretical calculations, high-pressure Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements reveal an additional structural transition above 20 GPa, yielding a distinct C2/m-II phase. Our findings establish the high-pressure phase diagram of Mg3Sb2, elucidate its pressure-dependent electronic properties, and provide valuable insights for future investigations of TE materials under high pressure.

Pressure induced magnetic-field-free superconducting diode effect in NbSe2 flake

The superconducting diode effect (SDE) is a fascinating nonreciprocal phenomenon where the critical current is different for opposite current directions. It is widely believed that realizing SDE requires breaking both inversion symmetry (IS) and time-reversal symmetry (TRS), which are usually achieved via heterostructure engineering and applying external magnetic fields. Here, we report a pressure-induced magnetic-field-free SDE in NbSe2 flakes without any heterostructures. We show that pressure alone breaks the IS, as confirmed by the second harmonic generation. Crucially, upon applying an out-of-plane magnetic field (B), the SDE exhibits even-in-B behavior, implying the absence of explicit TRS breaking. This finding challenges the prevailing theoretical paradigm and demonstrates that a magnetic-field-free SDE can emerge without explicitly breaking TRS. Thereby, our work establishes pressure engineering as a powerful tool for inducing nonreciprocal superconductivity and designing versatile, magnetic-field-free superconducting devices.

Mixture of Style Experts for Diverse Image Stylization

Diffusion-based stylization has advanced significantly, yet existing methods are limited to color-driven transformations, neglecting complex semantics and material details. We introduce StyleExpert, a semantic-aware framework based on the Mixture of Experts (MoE). Our framework employs a unified style encoder, trained on our large-scale dataset of content-style-stylized triplets, to embed diverse styles into a consistent latent space. This embedding is then used to condition a similarity-aware gating mechanism, which dynamically routes styles to specialized experts within the MoE architecture. Leveraging this MoE architecture, our method adeptly handles diverse styles spanning multiple semantic levels, from shallow textures to deep semantics. Extensive experiments show that StyleExpert outperforms existing approaches in preserving semantics and material details, while generalizing to unseen styles. Our code and collected images are available at the project page: https://hh-lg.github.io/StyleExpert-Page/.

Nonconcave Portfolio Choice under Smooth Ambiguity

We study continuous-time portfolio choice with nonlinear payoffs under smooth ambiguity and Bayesian learning. We develop a general framework for dynamic, non-concave asset allocation that accommodates nonlinear payoffs, broad utility classes, and flexible ambiguity attitudes. Dynamic consistency is obtained by a robust representation that recasts the ambiguity-averse problem as ambiguity-neutral with distorted priors. This structure delivers explicit trading rules by combining nonlinear filtering with the martingale approach and nests standard concave and linear-payoff benchmarks. As a leading application, delegated management with convex incentives illustrates that ambiguity aversion shifts beliefs toward adverse states, limits the range of states that would otherwise trigger more aggressive risk taking, and reduces volatility through lower risky exposure.

Pressure-tuned double-dome superconductivity in KZnBi with honeycomb lattice

Materials with honeycomb lattice structures exhibit unique electronic properties arising from their distinctive atomic arrangements. Their weakly coupled nature facilitates modulation by external stimuli, which leads to a diverse range of physical phenomena, particularly superconductivity. Here, we report the discovery of a pressure-induced M-shaped double-dome superconducting phase in KZnBi with honeycomb lattice. Under applied pressure, the superconducting transition temperature Tc increases sharply and reaches a maximum value of 7 K at approximately 2.5 GPa. Following a structural phase transition from the ambient-pressure P63/mmc phase to the high-pressure Pnma phase, Tc gradually decreases. Further compression induces an electronic transition near 7 GPa, accompanied by an unexpected reentrant superconducting phase with a higher Tc of 8 K. Our theoretical calculations indicate that KZnBi undergoes a transition from a Dirac band structure to a strong topological semimetal state following the structural phase transition. These findings establish KZnBi as an ideal platform for investigating the diverse structural manifestations and intrinsic phenomena of the honeycomb lattice, demonstrating the fundamental importance of honeycomb structures in advancing superconductivity research.

The Consistency Critic: Correcting Inconsistencies in Generated Images via Reference-Guided Attentive Alignment

Previous works have explored various customized generation tasks given a reference image, but they still face limitations in generating consistent fine-grained details. In this paper, our aim is to solve the inconsistency problem of generated images by applying a reference-guided post-editing approach and present our ImageCritic. We first construct a dataset of reference-degraded-target triplets obtained via VLM-based selection and explicit degradation, which effectively simulates the common inaccuracies or inconsistencies observed in existing generation models. Furthermore, building on a thorough examination of the model's attention mechanisms and intrinsic representations, we accordingly devise an attention alignment loss and a detail encoder to precisely rectify inconsistencies. ImageCritic can be integrated into an agent framework to automatically detect inconsistencies and correct them with multi-round and local editing in complex scenarios. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ImageCritic can effectively resolve detail-related issues in various customized generation scenarios, providing significant improvements over existing methods.

AgeBooth: Controllable Facial Aging and Rejuvenation via Diffusion Models

Recent diffusion model research focuses on generating identity-consistent images from a reference photo, but they struggle to accurately control age while preserving identity, and fine-tuning such models often requires costly paired images across ages. In this paper, we propose AgeBooth, a novel age-specific finetuning approach that can effectively enhance the age control capability of adapterbased identity personalization models without the need for expensive age-varied datasets. To reduce dependence on a large amount of age-labeled data, we exploit the linear nature of aging by introducing age-conditioned prompt blending and an age-specific LoRA fusion strategy that leverages SVDMix, a matrix fusion technique. These techniques enable high-quality generation of intermediate-age portraits. Our AgeBooth produces realistic and identity-consistent face images across different ages from a single reference image. Experiments show that AgeBooth achieves superior age control and visual quality compared to previous state-of-the-art editing-based methods.

Mean-Variance Stackelberg Games with Asymmetric Information

This paper considers two investors who perform mean-variance portfolio selection with asymmetric information: one knows the true stock dynamics, while the other has to infer the true dynamics from observed stock evolution. Their portfolio selection is interconnected through relative performance concerns, i.e., each investor is concerned about not only her terminal wealth, but how it compares to the average terminal wealth of both investors. We model this as Stackelberg competition: the partially-informed investor (the "follower") observes the trading behavior of the fully-informed investor (the "leader") and decides her trading strategy accordingly; the leader, anticipating the follower's response, in turn selects a trading strategy that best suits her objective. To prevent information leakage, the leader adopts a randomized strategy selected under an entropy-regularized mean-variance objective, where the entropy regularizer quantifies the randomness of a chosen strategy. The follower, on the other hand, observes only the actual trading actions of the leader (sampled from the randomized strategy), but not the randomized strategy itself. Her mean-variance objective is thus a random field, in the form of an expectation conditioned on a realized path of the leader's trading actions. In the idealized case of continuous sampling of the leader's trading actions, we derive a Stackelberg equilibrium where the follower's trading strategy depends linearly on the actual trading actions of the leader and the leader samples her trading actions from Gaussian distributions. In the realistic case of discrete sampling of the leader's trading actions, the above becomes an $\epsilon$-Stackelberg equilibrium.

Unveiling pressurized bulk superconductivity in a trilayer nickelate Pr4Ni3O10 single crystal

The recent discovery of superconductivity in pressurized Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) nickelates has provided new perspectives on the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity. Up to now, most experiments concentrated on the lanthanum-related RP phase, so the discovery of new superconducting RP nickelates is highly desirable to reveal their generality. Here we report that high-quality Pr4Ni3O10 single crystal is grown with an optical floating zone furnace under high oxygen pressure. High-pressure transport measurements show that the superconducting state arises above 10 GPa, and the maximum Tc reaches 39 K without saturation, significantly exceeding the value of 25-30 K of La4Ni3O10. Ultrasensitive d.c. magnetic susceptibility measurements under high pressure indicate bulk superconductivity with appreciable superconducting volume fractions. By performing in situ high-pressure synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements at 16 K, a structural transition is found from monoclinic to tetragonal. Unlike La4Ni3O10, the electronic structure of the high-pressure phase of Pr4Ni3O10 from density functional theory exhibits a dramatic metallization of the sigma-bonding band consisting of three dz2 orbitals and van Hove singularity of coupled bands of dx2-y2 orbitals near the Fermi level, similar to the bilayer nickelate La3Ni2O7. These findings reveal some generic features of both crystal and electronic structures for high-temperature superconductivity in nickelates and multi-layer cuprates.

Identify Then Recommend: Towards Unsupervised Group Recommendation

Group Recommendation (GR), which aims to recommend items to groups of users, has become a promising and practical direction for recommendation systems. This paper points out two issues of the state-of-the-art GR models. (1) The pre-defined and fixed number of user groups is inadequate for real-time industrial recommendation systems, where the group distribution can shift dynamically. (2) The training schema of existing GR methods is supervised, necessitating expensive user-group and group-item labels, leading to significant annotation costs. To this end, we present a novel unsupervised group recommendation framework named \underline{I}dentify \underline{T}hen \underline{R}ecommend (\underline{ITR}), where it first identifies the user groups in an unsupervised manner even without the pre-defined number of groups, and then two pre-text tasks are designed to conduct self-supervised group recommendation. Concretely, at the group identification stage, we first estimate the adaptive density of each user point, where areas with higher densities are more likely to be recognized as group centers. Then, a heuristic merge-and-split strategy is designed to discover the user groups and decision boundaries. Subsequently, at the self-supervised learning stage, the pull-and-repulsion pre-text task is proposed to optimize the user-group distribution. Besides, the pseudo group recommendation pre-text task is designed to assist the recommendations. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority and effectiveness of ITR on both user recommendation (e.g., 22.22\% NDCG@5 $\uparrow$) and group recommendation (e.g., 22.95\% NDCG@5 $\uparrow$). Furthermore, we deploy ITR on the industrial recommender and achieve promising results.

Disorder-broadened phase boundary with enhanced amorphous superconductivity in pressurized In2Te5

As an empirical tool in materials science and engineering, the iconic phase diagram owes its robustness and practicality to the topological characteristics rooted in the celebrated Gibbs phase law (F = C - P + 2). When crossing the phase diagram boundary, the structure transition occurs abruptly, bringing about an instantaneous change in physical properties and limited controllability on the boundaries (F = 1). Here, we expand the sharp phase boundary to an amorphous transition region (F = 2) by partially disrupting the long-range translational symmetry, leading to a sequential crystalline-amorphous-crystalline (CAC) transition in a pressurized In2Te5 single crystal. Through detailed in-situ synchrotron diffraction, we elucidate that the phase transition stems from the rotation of immobile blocks [In2Te2]2+, linked by hinge-like [Te3]2- trimers. Remarkably, within the amorphous region, the amorphous phase demonstrates a notable 25 % increase of the superconducting transition temperature (Tc), while the carrier concentration remains relatively constant. Furthermore, we propose a theoretical framework revealing that the unconventional boost in amorphous superconductivity might be attributed to an intensified electron correlation, triggered by a disorder-augmented multifractal behavior. These findings underscore the potential of disorder and prompt further exploration of unforeseen phenomena on the phase boundaries.

End-to-end Learnable Clustering for Intent Learning in Recommendation

Intent learning, which aims to learn users' intents for user understanding and item recommendation, has become a hot research spot in recent years. However, existing methods suffer from complex and cumbersome alternating optimization, limiting performance and scalability. To this end, we propose a novel intent learning method termed \underline{ELCRec}, by unifying behavior representation learning into an \underline{E}nd-to-end \underline{L}earnable \underline{C}lustering framework, for effective and efficient \underline{Rec}ommendation. Concretely, we encode user behavior sequences and initialize the cluster centers (latent intents) as learnable neurons. Then, we design a novel learnable clustering module to separate different cluster centers, thus decoupling users' complex intents. Meanwhile, it guides the network to learn intents from behaviors by forcing behavior embeddings close to cluster centers. This allows simultaneous optimization of recommendation and clustering via mini-batch data. Moreover, we propose intent-assisted contrastive learning by using cluster centers as self-supervision signals, further enhancing mutual promotion. Both experimental results and theoretical analyses demonstrate the superiority of ELCRec from six perspectives. Compared to the runner-up, ELCRec improves NDCG@5 by 8.9\% and reduces computational costs by 22.5\% on the Beauty dataset. Furthermore, due to the scalability and universal applicability, we deploy this method on the industrial recommendation system with 130 million page views and achieve promising results. The codes are available on GitHub (https://github.com/yueliu1999/ELCRec). A collection (papers, codes, datasets) of deep group recommendation/intent learning methods is available on GitHub (https://github.com/yueliu1999/Awesome-Deep-Group-Recommendation).

Pressure-induced structure phase transitions and superconductivity in dual topological insulator BiTe

The (Bi2)m(Bi2Te3)n homologous series possess natural multilayer heterostructure with intriguing physical properties at ambient pressure. Herein, we report the pressure-dependent evolution of the structure and electrical transport of the dual topological insulator BiTe, a member of the (Bi2)m(Bi2Te3)n series. With applied pressure, BiTe exhibits several different crystal structures and distinct superconducting states, which is remarkably similar to other members of the (Bi2)m(Bi2Te3)n series. Our results provide a systematic phase diagram for the pressure-induced superconductivity in BiTe, contributing to the highly interesting physics in this (Bi2)m(Bi2Te3)n series.

Striking the Balance: Life Insurance Timing and Asset Allocation in Financial Planning

This paper investigates the consumption and investment decisions of an individual facing uncertain lifespan and stochastic labor income within a Black-Scholes market framework. A key aspect of our study involves the agent's option to choose when to acquire life insurance for bequest purposes. We examine two scenarios: one with a fixed bequest amount and another with a controlled bequest amount. Applying duality theory and addressing free-boundary problems, we analytically solve both cases, and provide explicit expressions for value functions and optimal strategies in both cases. In the first scenario, where the bequest amount is fixed, distinct outcomes emerge based on different levels of risk aversion parameter $\gamma$: (i) the optimal time for life insurance purchase occurs when the agent's wealth surpasses a critical threshold if $\gamma \in (0,1)$, or (ii) life insurance should be acquired immediately if $\gamma>1$. In contrast, in the second scenario with a controlled bequest amount, regardless of $\gamma$ values, immediate life insurance purchase proves to be optimal. Finally, we extend the analysis to consider a scenario in which the individual earmarks part of her initial wealth for inheritance, where a critical wealth threshold consistently emerges.

Optimal Retirement Choice under Age-dependent Force of Mortality

This paper examines optimal investment, consumption, and retirement timing under an age-dependent force of mortality. We formulate the optimization problem as a combined stochastic control and optimal stopping problem with a random time horizon, featuring wealth, labor income, and the force of mortality. To address this problem, we transform it into its dual form, which is a finite time horizon, three-dimensional optimal stopping problem with joint dynamics. We establish the existence of an optimal retirement boundary that separates the state space into continuation and stopping regions. We derive regularity of the optimal stopping value function, prove that the dual boundary is locally Lipschitz, and characterize the boundary as the unique solution to a nonlinear integral equation, which is solved numerically. In the original coordinates, the agent retires whenever her wealth exceeds an age- , labor-income-, and force-of-mortality-dependent transformation of the optimal stopping boundary. We also provide numerical illustrations of the optimal strategies, including sensitivity analyses of the optimal retirement boundary with respect to the relevant model parameters.

Superconductivity in trilayer nickelate La4Ni3O10 under pressure

Nickelate superconductors have attracted a great deal of attention over the past few decades due to their similar crystal and electronic structures with high-temperature cuprate superconductors. Here, we report the superconductivity in a pressurized Ruddlesden-Popper phase single crystal, La4Ni3O10 (n = 3), and its interplay with the density wave order in the phase diagram. With increasing pressure, the density wave order as indicated by the anomaly in the resistivity is progressively suppressed, followed by the emergence of the superconductivity around 25 K under I4/mmm space group. The susceptibility measurements confirm bulk superconductivity with a volume fraction exceeding 80%. Moreover, theoretical analysis unveils that antiferromagnetic (AFM) super-exchange interactions can serve as the effective pairing interaction for the emergence of superconductivity (SC) in pressurized La4Ni3O10. Our research provides a new platform for the investigation of the unconventional superconductivity mechanism in Ruddlesden-Popper trilayer perovskite nickelates.

Pressure-induced Superconductivity and Structure Phase Transition in SnAs-based Zintl Compound SrSn2As2

Layered SnAs-based Zintl compounds exhibit a distinctive electronic structure, igniting extensive research efforts in areas of superconductivity, topological insulators and quantum magnetism. In this paper, we systematically investigate the crystal structures and electronic properties of the Zintl compound SrSn2As2 under high-pressure. At approximately 20.8 GPa, pressure-induced superconductivity is observed in SrSn2As2 with a characteristic dome-like evolution of Tc. Theoretical calculations together with high pressure synchrotron X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy have identified that SrSn2As2 undergoes a structural transformation from a trigonal to a monoclinic structure. Beyond 28.3 GPa, the superconducting transition temperature is suppressed due to a reduction of the density of state at the Fermi level. The discovery of pressure-induced superconductivity, accompanied by structural transitions in SrSn2As2, greatly expands the physical properties of layered SnAs-based compounds and provides a new ground states upon compression.

Pressure-induced Superconductivity and Topological Quantum Phase Transitions in the Topological Semimetal ZrTe2

Topological transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have attracted much attention due to its potential applications in spintronics and quantum computations. In this work, we systematically investigate the structural and electronic properties of topological TMDCs candidate ZrTe2 under high pressure. A pressure-induced Lifshitz transition is evidenced by the change of charge carrier type as well as the Fermi surface. Superconductivity was observed at around 8.3 GPa without structural phase transition. A typical dome-shape phase diagram is obtained with the maximum Tc of 5.6 K for ZrTe2. Furthermore, our theoretical calculations suggest the presence of multiple pressure-induced topological quantum phase transitions, which coexists with emergence of superconductivity. The results demonstrate that ZrTe2 with nontrivial topology of electronic states display new ground states upon compression.
