TGR: Advancing Industrial Recommendation from Generative-Paradigm Ranking toward Unified Generation and Reasoning

Industrial recommender systems typically rely on cascaded retrieval, pre-ranking, ranking, and reranking stages, whose separately optimized models limit scaling, fragment decision making, and lack semantic knowledge and reasoning. We present TGR (Tencent Generative Recommendation), an industrial framework that advances recommendation toward the generative paradigm along three coupled directions. TGR-GenRank upgrades ranking through CCFormer, which combines unified feature tokenization, a scalable Transformer backbone, feature-field separated cross attention, subspace token mixing, and hierarchical sequence compression while retaining per-item multi-task outputs. TGR-GenRec explores end-to-end generation under two paradigms: BARGE bridges item-boundary loss and semantic drift in hierarchical semantic-ID generation through item context-aware attention, hierarchical path reranking, and orthogonal dual-path decoding; HiGR performs whole-slate generation with prefix-structured semantic IDs, coarse-to-fine decoding, and listwise multi-objective alignment. TGR-Reason injects offline-generated semantic-ID reason tokens into online decoding, providing reasoning without request-time rollout. TGR is deployed across Tencent production surfaces serving hundreds of millions of users. CCFormer delivers significant gains in five A/B-tested scenarios and is fully launched in two, including +3.57% CTR and +1.71% advertising revenue. BARGE improves Hit@5 by 10.2-16.9% and yields +0.60% CTR and +1.70% reading time after full rollout. HiGR improves offline slate quality by 15.9-21.3% with a 5x inference speedup and achieves up to +1.22% watch time and +1.73% video views. TGR-Reason raises cold-start new-user Hit@1 by 477.8% and delivers +1.75% effective consumption and +13.09% new-user exposure-to-conversion online.

HiGR: Industrial-Scale Hierarchical Generative Slate Recommendation Framework in Tencent

Slate recommendation, which presents users with a ranked item list in a single display, is ubiquitous across mainstream online platforms. While recent generative recommendation methods have shown strong potential in modeling item sequences with semantic IDs, directly applying them to industrial-scale slate recommendation faces a fundamental disconnect: entangled SID spaces confound high-level list planning, fine-grained autoregressive decoding over long sequences limits semantic planning efficiency, and token-level objectives misalign with holistic slate quality. In this paper, we propose HiGR, an industrial-scale hierarchical generative framework for slate recommendation that bridges this disconnect through a co-designed pipeline. First, HiGR learns structured SIDs via a Prefix-Contrastive Residual Quantized VAE (PCRQ-VAE). By enforcing high-level prefixes to capture shared semantics, PCRQ-VAE creates a controllable discrete space that acts as a prerequisite for efficient planning. Leveraging this structured space, our Hierarchical Slate Decoder (HSD) shifts autoregressive modeling from entangled token-level decoding to coarse-grained preference embeddings. This design significantly reduces inference latency while allowing explicit global slate structure planning. Finally, this stable planning space enables an ORPO-based listwise alignment mechanism to optimize triple-objective implicit feedback-ranking fidelity, genuine user interest, and diversity. Extensive offline experiments show that HiGR outperforms state-of-the-art baselines by over 10% in offline recommendation quality while achieving a $5\times$ inference speedup. Online A/B tests on Tencent platforms further improve watch time by 1.22% and video plays by 1.73%. HiGR has been deployed on multiple Tencent platform surfaces, serving hundreds of millions of users and proving its industrial-scale applicability.

Olapa-MCoT: Enhancing the Chinese Mathematical Reasoning Capability of LLMs

In the past two years, the outstanding performance of ChatGPT in multilingual and multitasking has led to large language models (LLMs) attracting widespread attention. However, restricted by expensive costs, many studies have to focus on the ability of only one major language. How can we quickly improve the model's capabilities in new languages without reducing its original capabilities under limited data and computing power? In this work, we focus on improving the Chinese mathematical reasoning capability based on Llama-2-13B, which is weak in Chinese mathematical reasoning. We proposed the Mathematical Chain of Thought method (Olapa-MCoT). First, we propose Similarity RRHF (SimRRHF), which adds the constraint of model optimization direction by introducing similarity loss based on RRHF. Furthermore, the novelty Incorrect Data Relearning (IDRL) method is designed, which improves the model's ability to learn difficult knowledge. The experiment achieves significant performance, with the accuracy of Chinese mathematical reasoning up to 50%, a 36% rise compared to Llama-2-13B-chat. In addition, the accuracy of English reasoning ability also increased by nearly 4%. It is worth mentioning that our method can be applied to any language major LLMs.
