OpenRTLSet: A Fully Open-Source Dataset for Large Language Model-based Verilog Module Design

OpenRTLSet introduces the largest fully open-source dataset for hardware design, offering over 131,000 diverse Verilog code samples to the research community and industry. Our dataset uniquely combines Verilog code from GitHub repositories (102k modules), VHDL translations (5k modules), and synthesizable C/C++ translations (24k modules), all freely accessible without proprietary restrictions. Using the reasoning model DeepSeek-R1, we generated paired natural language descriptions for each code sample, enabling fine-tuning of various language model families (e.g., Qwen and Granite) for Verilog code generation. Our dataset explores multiple options, including Verilator-generated C++ files as additional context during labeling, quantization techniques (INT4 vs. BF16), and performance differences across model sizes (7B-32B parameters). OpenRTLSet demonstrates that open-source approaches can achieve superior performance in hardware design tasks, establishing a new foundation for accessible research and commercial use in this domain.

Semantic-Type-Guided Bug Finding

In recent years, there has been an increased interest in tools that establish \emph{incorrectness} rather than correctness of program properties. In this work we build on this approach by developing a novel methodology to prove incorrectness of \emph{semantic typing} properties of functional programs, extending the incorrectness approach to the model theory of functional program typing. We define a semantic type refuter which refutes semantic typings for a simple functional language. We prove our refuter is co-recursively enumerable, and that it is sound and complete with respect to a semantic typing notion. An initial implementation is described which uses symbolic evaluation to efficiently find type errors over a functional language with a rich type system.

A Pure Demand Operational Semantics with Applications to Program Analysis

This paper develops a novel minimal-state operational semantics for higher-order functional languages that uses only the call stack and a source program point or a lexical level as the complete state information: there is no environment, no substitution, no continuation, etc. We prove this form of operational semantics equivalent to standard presentations. We then show how this approach can open the door to potential new applications: we define a program analysis as a direct finitization of this operational semantics. The program analysis that naturally emerges has a number of novel and interesting properties compared to standard program analyses for higher-order programs: for example, it can infer recurrences and does not need value widening. We both give a formal definition of the analysis and describe our current implementation.

A priori bounds for quasi-linear SPDEs in the full sub-critical regime

This paper is concerned with quasi-linear parabolic equations driven by an additive forcing $\xi \in C^{\alpha-2}$, in the full sub-critical regime $\alpha \in (0,1)$. We are inspired by Hairer's regularity structures, however we work with a more parsimonious model indexed by multi-indices rather than trees. This allows us to capture additional symmetries which play a crucial role in our analysis. Assuming bounds on this model, which is modified in agreement with the concept of algebraic renormalization, we prove local a priori estimates on solutions to the quasi-linear equations modified by the corresponding counter terms.

Large $N$ Limit of the $O(N)$ Linear Sigma Model via Stochastic Quantization

This article studies large $N$ limits of a coupled system of $N$ interacting $\Phi^4$ equations posed over $\mathbb{T}^{d}$ for $d=2$, known as the $O(N)$ linear sigma model. Uniform in $N$ bounds on the dynamics are established, allowing us to show convergence to a mean-field singular SPDE, also proved to be globally well-posed. Moreover, we show tightness of the invariant measures in the large $N$ limit. For large enough mass, they converge to the (massive) Gaussian free field, the unique invariant measure of the mean-field dynamics, at a rate of order $1/\sqrt{N}$ with respect to the Wasserstein distance. We also consider fluctuations and obtain tightness results for certain $O(N)$ invariant observables, along with an exact description of the limiting correlations.

The Habitable Exoplanet Observatory (HabEx) Mission Concept Study Interim Report

For the first time in human history, technologies have matured sufficiently to enable a mission capable of discovering and characterizing habitable planets like Earth orbiting sunlike stars other than the Sun. At the same time, such a platform would enable unique science not possible from ground-based facilities. This science is broad and exciting, ranging from new investigations of our own solar system to a full range of astrophysics disciplines. The Habitable Exoplanet Observatory, or HabEx, is one of four studies currently being undertaken by NASA in preparation for the 2020 Astrophysics Decadal Survey. HabEx has been designed to be the Great Observatory of the 2030s, with community involvement through a competed and funded Guest Observer (GO) program. This interim report describes the HabEx baseline concept, which is a space-based 4-meter diameter telescope mission concept with ultraviolet (UV), optical, and near-infrared (near-IR) imaging and spectroscopy capabilities. More information on HabEx can be found at https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/habex

Parabolic equations with rough coefficients and singular forcing

This article focuses on parabolic equations with rough diffusion coefficients which are ill-posed in the classical sense of distributions due to the presence of a singular forcing. Inspired by the philosophy of rough paths and regularity structures, we introduce a notion of modelled distribution which is suitable in this context. We prove two general tools for reconstruction and integration, as well as a product lemma which is tailor made for the reconstruction of the rough diffusion operator. This yields a partially automated deterministic theory, which we apply to obtain an existence and uniqueness theory for parabolic equations with rough diffusion coefficients and a singular forcing in the negative parabolic H\"{o}lder space of order larger than $-\frac{3}{2}$.

Stochastic continuity equations with conservative noise

The present article is devoted to well-posedness by noise for the continuity equation. Namely, we consider the continuity equation with non-linear and partially degenerate stochastic perturbations in divergence form. We prove the existence and uniqueness of entropy solutions under hypotheses on the velocity field which are weaker than those required in the deterministic setting. This extends related results of [Flandoli, Gubinelli, Priola; Invent. Math., 2010] applicable for linear multiplicative noise to a non-linear setting. The existence proof relies on a duality argument which makes use of the regularity theory for fully non-linear parabolic equations.

H\"older estimates for fractional parabolic equations with critical divergence free drifts

This work focuses on drift-diffusion equations with fractional dissipation $(-\Delta)^{\alpha}$ in the regime $\alpha \in (1/2,1)$. Our main result is an a priori H\"older estimate on smooth solutions to the Cauchy problem, starting from initial data with finite energy. We prove that for some $\beta \in (0,1)$, the $C^{\beta}$ norm of the solution depends only on the size of the drift in critical spaces of the form $L^{q}_{t}(BMO^{-\gamma}_{x})$ with $q>2$ and $\gamma \in (0,2\alpha-1]$, along with the $L^{2}_{x}$ norm of the initial datum. The proof uses the Caffarelli/Vasseur variant of De Giorgi's method for non-local equations.

On the Boltzmann Equation with Stochastic Kinetic Transport: Global Existence of Renormalized Martingale Solutions

This article studies the Cauchy problem for the Boltzmann equation with stochastic kinetic transport. Under a cut-off assumption on the collision kernel and a coloring hypothesis for the noise coefficients, we prove the global existence of renormalized (in the sense of DiPerna/Lions) martingale solutions to the Boltzmann equation for large initial data with finite mass, energy, and entropy. Our analysis includes a detailed study of weak martingale solutions to a class of linear stochastic kinetic equations. This study includes a criterion for renormalization, the weak closedness of the solution set, and tightness of velocity averages in $L^1$.

Random Perturbations of Viscous Compressible Fluids: Global Existence of Weak Solutions

This article is devoted to the well-posedness of the stochastic compressible Navier Stokes equations. We establish the global existence of an appropriate class of weak solutions emanating from large inital data, set within a bounded domain. The stochastic forcing is of multiplicative type, white in time and colored in space. Energy methods are used to merge techniques of P.L. Lions for the deterministic, compressible system with the theory of martingale solutions to the incompressible, stochastic system. Namely, we develop stochastic analogues of the weak compactness program of Lions, and use them to implement a martingale method. The existence proof involves four layers of approximating schemes. We combine the three layer scheme of Feiresil/Novotny/Petzeltova for the deterministic, compressible system with a time splitting method used by Berthelin/Vovelle for the one dimensional stochastic compressible Euler equations.

Statistically adaptive learning for a general class of cost functions (SA L-BFGS)

We present a system that enables rapid model experimentation for tera-scale machine learning with trillions of non-zero features, billions of training examples, and millions of parameters. Our contribution to the literature is a new method (SA L-BFGS) for changing batch L-BFGS to perform in near real-time by using statistical tools to balance the contributions of previous weights, old training examples, and new training examples to achieve fast convergence with few iterations. The result is, to our knowledge, the most scalable and flexible linear learning system reported in the literature, beating standard practice with the current best system (Vowpal Wabbit and AllReduce). Using the KDD Cup 2012 data set from Tencent, Inc. we provide experimental results to verify the performance of this method.

Advanced Technology Large-Aperture Space Telescope (ATLAST): A Technology Roadmap for the Next Decade

The Advanced Technology Large-Aperture Space Telescope (ATLAST) is a set of mission concepts for the next generation of UVOIR space observatory with a primary aperture diameter in the 8-m to 16-m range that will allow us to perform some of the most challenging observations to answer some of our most compelling questions, including "Is there life elsewhere in the Galaxy?" We have identified two different telescope architectures, but with similar optical designs, that span the range in viable technologies. The architectures are a telescope with a monolithic primary mirror and two variations of a telescope with a large segmented primary mirror. This approach provides us with several pathways to realizing the mission, which will be narrowed to one as our technology development progresses. The concepts invoke heritage from HST and JWST design, but also take significant departures from these designs to minimize complexity, mass, or both. Our report provides details on the mission concepts, shows the extraordinary scientific progress they would enable, and describes the most important technology development items. These are the mirrors, the detectors, and the high-contrast imaging technologies, whether internal to the observatory, or using an external occulter. Experience with JWST has shown that determined competitors, motivated by the development contracts and flight opportunities of the new observatory, are capable of achieving huge advances in technical and operational performance while keeping construction costs on the same scale as prior great observatories.
