Spinor condensate persistent currents in an atomtronic Josephson necklace

The investigation of superflow in multi-junction Josephson circuits is currently a leading frontier of physics research, probing the fundamental manifestations of macroscopic phase coherence and enabling applications to quantum simulation, metrology and computing. In this work, we extensively investigate the stability and dynamics of persistent currents of a spinor atomic Bose-Einstein condensate on a ring with multiple Josephson junctions. Specifically, we examine the effects of positive and negative interspecies interactions, co- and counter-rotation, population and Manakov asymmetry, as well as Rabi coupling on the persistent currents carried by the two components. Our analysis reveals that the presence of a second species offers multiple mechanisms for unprecedented manipulation of supercurrents on the ring, including phase-slip engineering, stability control, current-inversion switching and supercurrent pumping. Our study provides a roadmap for the engineering of persistent currents in binary ring condensates in necklace potentials, with significant implications for atomtronics, matter-wave interferometry and sensing using atomic Bose gases.

Supersolid phases and collective excitations in two-dimensional Rashba spin-orbit coupled spin-1 condensates

We investigate the collective excitation spectrum and dynamics of a quasi two-dimensional spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensate with Rashba type spin-orbit (SO) coupling. Employing Bogoliubov-de-Gennes analysis, we analytically compute the excitation spectra across a wide range of interaction strengths and coupling parameters. By systematically varying the SO and Rabi couplings, we uncover distinct dynamical signatures of quantum phase transitions, including mode softening, the appearance of roton-like minima, and miscibility-driven instabilities in both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interaction regimes. In the antiferromagnetic case, these instabilities lead to a dynamically unstable supersolid phase characterized by the coexistence of density modulation and global phase coherence. To corroborate the analytical predictions, we numerically solve the coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations and analyze the dynamical stability of the condensate. Our results provide experimentally accessible signatures for spinor condensates with tunable spin-orbit coupling and demonstrate the rich interplay between spin-dependent interactions and synthetic couplings in nonequilibrium quantum fluids.

Swarm UAVs Communication

The advancement in cyber-physical systems has opened a new way in disaster management and rescue operations. The usage of UAVs is very promising in this context. UAVs, mainly quadcopters, are small in size and their payload capacity is limited. A single UAV can not traverse the whole area. Hence multiple UAVs or swarms of UAVs come into the picture managing the entire payload in a modular and equiproportional manner. In this work we have explored a vast topic related to UAVs. Among the UAVs quadcopter is the main focus. We explored the types of quadcopters, their flying strategy, their communication protocols, architecture and controlling techniques, followed by the swarm behaviour in nature and UAVs. Swarm behaviour and a few swarm optimization algorithms has been explored here. Swarm architecture and communication in between swarm UAV networks also got a special attention in our work. In disaster management the UAV swarm network must have to search a large area. And for this proper path planning algorithm is required. We have discussed the existing path planning algorithm, their advantages and disadvantages in great detail. Formation maintenance of the swarm network is an important issue which has been explored through leader-follower technique. The wireless path loss model has been modelled using friis and ground ray reflection model. Using this path loss models we have managed to create the link budget and simulate the variation of communication link performance with the variation of distance.

The Impact of AI Tool on Engineering at ANZ Bank An Empirical Study on GitHub Copilot within Corporate Environment

The increasing popularity of AI, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs), has significantly impacted various domains, including Software Engineering. This study explores the integration of AI tools in software engineering practices within a large organization. We focus on ANZ Bank, which employs over 5000 engineers covering all aspects of the software development life cycle. This paper details an experiment conducted using GitHub Copilot, a notable AI tool, within a controlled environment to evaluate its effectiveness in real-world engineering tasks. Additionally, this paper shares initial findings on the productivity improvements observed after GitHub Copilot was adopted on a large scale, with about 1000 engineers using it. ANZ Bank's six-week experiment with GitHub Copilot included two weeks of preparation and four weeks of active testing. The study evaluated participant sentiment and the tool's impact on productivity, code quality, and security. Initially, participants used GitHub Copilot for proposed use-cases, with their feedback gathered through regular surveys. In the second phase, they were divided into Control and Copilot groups, each tackling the same Python challenges, and their experiences were again surveyed. Results showed a notable boost in productivity and code quality with GitHub Copilot, though its impact on code security remained inconclusive. Participant responses were overall positive, confirming GitHub Copilot's effectiveness in large-scale software engineering environments. Early data from 1000 engineers also indicated a significant increase in productivity and job satisfaction.

Federated Learning for Intrusion Detection in IoT Security: A Hybrid Ensemble Approach

Critical role of Internet of Things (IoT) in various domains like smart city, healthcare, supply chain and transportation has made them the target of malicious attacks. Past works in this area focused on centralized Intrusion Detection System (IDS), assuming the existence of a central entity to perform data analysis and identify threats. However, such IDS may not always be feasible, mainly due to spread of data across multiple sources and gathering at central node can be costly. Also, the earlier works primarily focused on improving True Positive Rate (TPR) and ignored the False Positive Rate (FPR), which is also essential to avoid unnecessary downtime of the systems. In this paper, we first present an architecture for IDS based on hybrid ensemble model, named PHEC, which gives improved performance compared to state-of-the-art architectures. We then adapt this model to a federated learning framework that performs local training and aggregates only the model parameters. Next, we propose Noise-Tolerant PHEC in centralized and federated settings to address the label-noise problem. The proposed idea uses classifiers using weighted convex surrogate loss functions. Natural robustness of KNN classifier towards noisy data is also used in the proposed architecture. Experimental results on four benchmark datasets drawn from various security attacks show that our model achieves high TPR while keeping FPR low on noisy and clean data. Further, they also demonstrate that the hybrid ensemble models achieve performance in federated settings close to that of the centralized settings.

Row-Based Dual Vdd Assignment, for a Level Converter Free CSA Design and Its Near-Threshold Operation

Subthreshold circuit designs are very much popular for some of the ultra low power applications, where the minimum energy consumption is the primary concern. But, due to the weak driving current, these circuits generally suffer from huge performance degradation. Therefore, in this paper, we primarily targeted to analyze the performance of a Near-Threshold Circuit (NTC), which retains the excellent energy efficiency of the subthreshold design, while improving the performance to a certain extent. A modified row-based dual Vdd 4-operand CSA (Carry Save Adder) design has been reported in the present work using 45 nm technology. Moreover, to find out the effectiveness of the near-threshold operation of the 4-operand CSA design; it has been compared with the other design styles. From the simulation results, obtained for the frequency of 20 MHz, we found that the proposed scheme of CSA design consumes 3.009*10-7 Watt of Average Power (Pavg), which is almost 90.9 % lesser than that of the conventional CSA design. Whereas, looking at the perspective of maximum delay at output, the proposed scheme of CSA design provides a fair 44.37 % improvement, compared to that of the subthreshold CSA design.

Implementation of the Cluster Based Tunable Sleep Transistor Cell Power Gating Technique for a 4x4 Multiplier Circuit

A modular, programmable, and high performance Power Gating strategy, called cluster based tunable sleep transistor cell Power Gating, has been introduced in the present paper with a few modifications. Furthermore, a detailed comparison of its performance with some of the other conventional Power Gating schemes; such as Cluster Based Sleep Transistor Design (CBSTD), Distributed Sleep Transistor Network (DSTN) etc.; has also been presented here. Considering the constraints of power consumption, performance, and the area overhead, while doing the actual implementation of any Power Gating scheme, it becomes important to deal with the various design issues like the proper sizing of the sleep transistors (STs), controlling the voltage drop (IR drop) across the STs, and obviously maintaining a desired performance with lower amount of delay degradation. With this notion, we tried to find out an efficient Power Gating strategy which can reduce the overall power consumption of any CMOS circuit by virtue of reducing the standby mode leakage current. Taking the different performance parameters into account, for an example circuit, which is actually the conventional 4x4 multiplier design, we found that the modified tunable sleep transistor cell Power Gating gives very much promising results. The reported architecture of the 4x4 multiplier with the tunable sleep transistor cell Power Gating, is designed using 45 nm technology and it consumes 1.3638x10-5 Watt of Average Power while being operated with the nominal case of the bit configuration word, that is, 1000. ...........
