The stochastic Cahn-Hilliard equation in critical spaces

We study stochastic Cahn-Hilliard equations in bounded smooth domains with a double-well potential, transport-type noise, and natural Neumann boundary conditions in dimensions $d\le 4$. By employing stochastic maximal regularity techniques and deriving suitable energy estimates, we prove local and global well-posedness. The initial data considered here are allowed to belong to the critical trace space $B^{d/q-1}_{q,p}$, which is locally invariant under the natural scaling of the Cahn-Hilliard equation. In particular, for arbitrary $\varepsilon>1/3$ one can find $q$ sufficiently large such that uniqueness and global existence of a probabilistically strong solution hold for every initial datum $u_0\in H^{\varepsilon, q}(\mathscr{O})$. If $u_0\in H^1(\mathscr{O})$, then these global solutions have $L_t^2H_x^3 \cap C_tH_x^1$-regularity on finite time intervals.

Concave and other generalizations of stochastic Gronwall inequalities

We provide nonlinear generalizations of a class of stochastic Gronwall inequalities that have been studied by von Renesse and Scheutzow (2010), Scheutzow (2013), Xie and Zhang (2020) and Mehri and Scheutzow (2021). This class of stochastic Gronwall inequalities is a useful tool for SDEs. More precisely, we study generalizations of the Bihari-LaSalle type. Whilst in a closely connected article by the author convex generalizations are studied, we investigate here concave and other generalizations. These types of estimates are useful to obtain existence and uniqueness of global solutions of path-dependent SDEs driven by L\'evy processes under one-sided non-Lipschitz monotonicity and coercivity assumptions.

Sharp convex generalizations of stochastic Gronwall inequalities

We provide generalizations of a class of stochastic Gronwall inequalities that has been studied by von Renesse and Scheutzow (2010), Scheutzow (2013), Xie and Zhang (2020) and Mehri and Scheutzow (2021). This class of stochastic Gronwall inequalities is a useful tool for SDEs. Our focus are convex generalizations of the Bihari-LaSalle type. The constants we obtain are sharp. In particular, we provide new sharp constants for the stochastic Gronwall inequalities. The proofs are connected to a domination inequality by Lenglart (1977), an inequality by Pratelli (1976) and a characterization of Lenglart's concept of domination via the Snell envelope. The inequalities we study appear for example in connection with exponential moments of solutions to path-dependent SDEs: For non-path-dependent SDEs, criteria for the finiteness of exponential moments are known. To be able to extend these proofs to the path-dependent case, a convex generalization of a stochastic Gronwall inequality seems necessary. Using the results of this paper, we obtain a criterion for the finiteness of exponential moments which is similar to that known for non-path-dependent SDEs. Stochastic Gronwall inequalities can also be applied to study other types of SDEs than path-dependent SDEs: An estimate of this paper is applied by Agresti and Veraar (2023) to prove global well-posedness for reaction-diffusion systems with transport noise.

Sharpness of Lenglart's domination inequality and a sharp monotone version

We prove that the best so far known constant $c_p=\frac{p^{-p}}{1-p},\, p\in(0,1)$ of a domination inequality, which originates to Lenglart, is sharp. In particular, we solve an open question posed by Revuz and Yor. Motivated by the application to maximal inequalities, like e.g. the Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequality, we also study the domination inequality under an additional monotonicity assumption. In this special case, a constant which stays bounded for $p$ near $1$ was proven by Pratelli and Lenglart. We provide the sharp constant for this case.
