Discrete Darboux system with self-consistent sources and its symmetric reduction

The discrete non-commutative Darboux system of equations with self-consistent sources is constructed, utilizing both the vectorial fundamental (binary Darboux) transformation and the method of additional independent variables. Then the symmetric reduction of discrete Darboux equations with sources is presented. In order to provide a simpler version of the resulting equations we introduce the $\tau/\sigma$ form of the (commutative) discrete Darboux system. Our equations give, in continuous limit, the version with self-consistent sources of the classical symmetric Darboux system.

On a surface isolated by Gambier

We provide a Lax pair for the surfaces of Voss and Guichard, and we show that such particular surfaces considered by Gambier are characterized by a third Painlev\'e function.

Bilinear identities for an extended B-type Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy

In this paper, we construct the bilinear identities for the wave functions of an extended B-type Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (BKP) hierarchy, which contains two types of (2+1)-dimensional Sawada-Kotera equation with a self-consistent source (2d-SKwS-I and 2d-SKwS-II). By introducing an auxiliary variable corresponding to the extended flow for the BKP hierarchy, we find the tau-function and the bilinear identities for this extended BKP hierarchy. The bilinear identities can generate all the Hirota's bilinear equations for the zero-curvature forms of this extended BKP hierarchy. As examples, the Hirota's bilinear equations for the two types of 2d-SKwS (both 2d-SKwS-I and 2d-SKwS-II) will be given explicitly.

Discrete KP equation with self-consistent sources

We show that the discrete Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation with sources obtained recently by the "source generalization" method can be incorporated into the squared eigenfunction symmetry extension procedure. Moreover, using the known correspondence between Darboux-type transformations and additional independent variables, we demonstrate that the equation with sources can be derived from Hirota's discrete KP equations but in a space of higher dimension. In this way we uncover the origin of the source terms as coming from multidimensional consistency of the Hirota system itself.

The generalized Kupershmidt deformation for constructing new discrete integrable systems

KdV6 equation can be described as the Kupershmidt deformation of the KdV equation (see 2008, Phys. Lett. A 372: 263). In this paper, starting from the bi-Hamiltonian structure of the discrete integrable system, we propose a generalized Kupershmidt deformation to construct new discrete integrable systems. Toda hierarchy, Kac-van Moerbeke hierarchy and Ablowitz-Ladik hierarchy are considered. The Lax representations for these new deformed systems are presented. The generalized Kupershmidt deformation for the discrete integrable systems provides a new way to construct new discrete integrable systems.

Bilinear Identities and Hirota's Bilinear Forms for an Extended Kadomtsev-Petviashvili Hierarchy

In this paper, we construct the bilinear identities for the wave functions of an extended Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy, which is the KP hierarchy with particular extended flows (2008, Phys. Lett. A, 372: 3819). By introducing an auxiliary parameter (denoted by $z$), whose flow corresponds to the so-called squared eigenfunction symmetry of KP hierarchy, we find the tau-function for this extended KP hierarchy. It is shown that the bilinear identities will generate all the Hirota's bilinear equations for the zero-curvature forms of the extended KP hierarchy, which includes two types of KP equation with self-consistent sources (KPSCS). It seems that the Hirota's bilinear equations obtained in this paper for KPSCS are in a simpler form by comparing with the results by Hu and Wang (2007, Inverse Problems, 23: 1433).

The q-deformed mKP hierarchy with self-consistent sources, Wronskian solutions and solitons

Based on the eigenfunction symmetry constraint of the q-deformed modified KP hierarchy, a q-deformed mKP hierarchy with self-consistent sources ($q$-mKPHSCSs) is constructed. The q-mKPHSCSs contains two types of q-deformed mKP equation with self-consistent sources. By combination of the dressing method and the method of variation of constants, a generalized dressing approach is proposed to solve the q-deformed KP hierarchy with self-consistent sources ($q$-KPHSCSs). Using the gauge transformation between the $q$-KPHSCSs and the $q$-mKPHSCSs, the q-deformed Wronskian solutions for the $q$-KPHSCSs and the $q$-mKPHSCSs are obtained. The one-soliton solutions for the q-deformed KP (mKP) equation with a source are given explicitly.

A Generalized Dressing Approach for Solving the Extended KP and the Extended mKP Hierarchy

A combination of dressing method and variation of constants as well as a formula for constructing the eigenfunction is used to solve the extended KP hierarchy, which is a hierarchy with one more series of time-flow and based on the symmetry constaint of KP hierarchy. Similarly, extended mKP hierarchy is formulated and its zero curvature form, Lax representation and reductions are presented. Via gauge transformation, it is easy to transform dressing solutions of extended KP hierarchy to the solutions of extended mKP hierarchy. Wronskian solutions of extended KP and extended mKP hierarchies are constructed explicitly.

A new extended q-deformed KP hierarchy

A method is proposed in this paper to construct a new extended q-deformed KP ($q$-KP) hiearchy and its Lax representation. This new extended $q$-KP hierarchy contains two types of q-deformed KP equation with self-consistent sources, and its two kinds of reductions give the q-deformed Gelfand-Dickey hierarchy with self-consistent sources and the constrained q-deformed KP hierarchy, which include two types of q-deformed KdV equation with sources and two types of q-deformed Boussinesq equation with sources. All of these results reduce to the classical ones when $q$ goes to 1. This provides a general way to construct (2+1)- and (1+1)-dimensional q-deformed soliton equations with sources and their Lax representations.

A new extended KP hierarchy

A method is proposed to construct a new extended KP hierarchy, which includes two types of KP equation with self-consistent sources and admits reductions to k-constrained KP hierarchy and to Gelfand-Dickey hierarchy with sources. It provides a general way to construct soliton equations with sources and their Lax representations.

A new multi-component two dimensional Toda lattice hierarchy and two dimensional Toda lattice with self-consistent sources

We propose a new multi-component two-dimensional Toda lattice hierarchy (mc2dTLH) which includes two-dimensional Toda lattice equation with self-consistent sources (2dTLSCS) as the first non-trivial equation. The Lax representations for this mc2dTLH are presented. We construct a non-auto-Bäcklund Darboux transformation (DT) for 2dTLSCS by applying the method of variation of constant (MVC) to ordinary DT of 2dTLSCS. This non-auto-Bäcklund DT enables us to obtain various solutions such as solitons, rational solutions etc., to 2dTLSCS.

Restricted Flows and the Soliton Equation with Self-Consistent Sources

The KdV equation is used as an example to illustrate the relation between the restricted flows and the soliton equation with self-consistent sources. Inspired by the results on the Backlund transformation for the restricted flows (by V.B. Kuznetsov et al.), we constructed two types of Darboux transformations for the KdV equation with self-consistent sources (KdVES). These Darboux transformations are used to get some explicit solutions of the KdVES, which include soliton, rational, positon, and negaton solutions.

Higher Order Potential Expansion for the Continuous Limits of the Toda Hierarchy

A method for introducing the higher order terms in the potential expansion to study the continuous limits of the Toda hierarchy is proposed in this paper. The method ensures that the higher order terms are differential polynomials of the lower ones and can be continued to be performed indefinitly. By introducing the higher order terms, the fewer equations in the Toda hierarchy are needed in the so-called recombination method to recover the KdV hierarchy. It is shown that the Lax pairs, the Poisson tensors, and the Hamiltonians of the Toda hierarchy tend towards the corresponding ones of the KdV hierarchy in continuous limit.

The relation between the Toda hierarchy and the KdV hierarchy

Under three relations connecting the field variables of Toda flows and that of KdV flows, we present three new sequences of combination of the equations in the Toda hierarchy which have the KdV hierarchy as a continuous limit. The relation between the Poisson structures of the KdV hierarchy and the Toda hierarchy in continuous limit is also studied.
