Particlelike solutions of the Einstein-Dirac-Higgs equations: ground, excited, and many-fermion states

We present an extended study of the gravitationally localized soliton-like solutions to the minimally-coupled Einstein-Dirac-Higgs equations, embedded in asymptotically Minkowski spacetimes. The equations of motion describing these Yukawa-coupled Dirac stars are generalized to any even number of constituent fermions. We first expand the discussion of two-fermion ground-state solutions initially analyzed in Leith et al. [Phys. Rev. D. 107, 106020 (2023)]. Upon extending our analysis to excited states and many-fermion states, we find that both exhibit different behaviors to their two-fermion ground-state counterparts. In these excited states and many-fermion states, the Higgs field may exhibit stepwise increases and at times decrease within the soliton, which has not been seen for the two-fermion ground states. We also propose the potential cause of a significant degree of ADM-to-fermion mass disparity, which is present in states with strong Yukawa-coupling.

Critical analysis of some weak-field Weyl conformal gravity solutions

The field equations of Conformal Gravity (CG) are constructed from fourth-order derivatives of the metric. While the second-order field equations of General Relativity (GR) reduce to a second-order Poisson equation in the weak-field limit, those of CG yield a fourth-order one. Despite this, works by Tanhayi, Fathi, and Takook [Mod. Phys. Lett. A 26, 2403 (2011)], Payandeh and Fathi [Int. J. Th. Phys. 51, 2227 (2012)], and Fathi, Olivares, and Villanueva [Galaxies 9, 43 (2021)] use second-order Poisson equations to generate purported solutions to CG in a weak-field limit. We demonstrate that these solutions are erroneous due to the use of second-order Poisson equations instead of appropriate fourth-order ones. We also point out other inconsistencies in the derivations of these metrics, such as the assertion that known CG (electro)vacuum solutions describe the interiors of matter distributions.

Backreactions from loading the stable photon sphere in Weyl conformal gravity

We investigate the accumulation of null matter at the stable photon sphere in the Mannheim-Kazanas metric, the analogue to the Schwarzschild solution in Weyl's conformal theory of gravity. In our toy problem in which we consider an infinitely-thin shell, we find that a jump in radial pressure ${T^r}_r$ is induced across the shell unless the shell has a radius of either the unstable or stable photon sphere radii. We then find that upon loading the stable photon sphere, its area remains invariant. Furthermore, at a critical threshold loading limit for this zero-width null matter shell, we are able to produce a metric containing an extremal horizon with an AdS$_2\times$S$^2$ geometry completely independent of the cosmological curvature. This hitherto unencountered and therefore unexpected result is a phenomenon unseen in standard nonconformal second-order metrics with nonzero cosmological constants.

Charged black holes in Weyl conformal gravity

We present a parametric study of the spacetime structures obtainable in Weyl conformal gravity's dyonic Reissner-Nordström solution. We derive expressions for photon sphere radii and horizons for this metric in terms of the conformal gravity parameters, from which we then determine analytic formulae for extremal limits and Hawking temperatures. Due to the surprising lack of the inverse quadratic $1/r^2$ term in this fourth-order metric, there is no guarantee for the innermost horizon of a black hole spacetime to be a Cauchy horizon, which is in direct contrast to the corresponding metric in general relativity. For example, for certain parameter values, a ``nested black hole'' is seen to exist; in such a spacetime, we find a Cauchy horizon trapped between two event horizons, which is not a structure known to be obtainable in standard general relativity. In addition to such exotic spacetimes, we also find a critical value for the electric and magnetic charges, at which the stable and unstable photon spheres of the metric merge, and we obtain extremal limits where three horizons collide.

Structure of Kerr black hole spacetimes in Weyl conformal gravity

We analyze the stationary, uncharged, rotating, vacuum solution to Weyl conformal gravity. We elucidate the causal and ergoregion structure of the spacetimes found in the parameter space of the metric for positive mass. These are then compared to the analogous Kerr, Kerr-de Sitter, and Kerr-Anti-de Sitter solutions to general relativity. Additionally, we investigate and derive the extremal limits for both the horizons and ergosurfaces of the spacetimes. The horizon surface gravities and Hawking temperatures at the extremal horizon limits are then calculated to show that they vanish.
