Semisimplifications and representations of the General Linear Supergroup

We study the semisimplification of the full karoubian subcategory generated by the irreducible finite dimensional representations of the algebraic supergroup $GL(m|n)$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. This semisimplification is equivalent to the representations of a pro-reductive group $H_{m|n}$. We show that there is a canonical decomposition $H_{m|n} \cong GL(m\!-\! n) \times H_{n|n}$, thereby reducing the determination of $H_{m|n}$ to the equal rank case $m\! =\! n$ which was treated in a previous paper.

Global liftings between inner forms of GSp(4)

For reductive groups $G$ over a number field we discuss automorphic liftings from cuspidal irreducible automorphic representations $\pi$ of $G(\mathbb{A})$ to cuspidal irreducible automorphic representations on $H(\mathbb{A})$ for the quasi-split inner form $H$ of $G$. We show the existence of cohomological nontrivial weak global liftings in many cases. A priori these weak liftings do not give a description of the precise nature of the corresponding local liftings at the ramified places and in particular do not characterize the image of the lift. For inner forms of the group $H=\mathrm{GSp}(4)$ however we address these finer details. Especially, we prove the recent conjectures of Ibukiyama and Kitayama on paramodular newforms of squarefree level.

Homotopy quotients and comodules of supercommutative Hopf algebras

We study induced model structures on Frobenius categories. In particular we consider the case where $\mathcal{C}$ is the category of comodules of a supercommutative Hopf algebra $A$ over a field $k$. Given a graded Hopf algebra quotient $A \to B$ satisfying some finiteness conditions, the Frobenius tensor category $\mathcal{D}$ of graded $B$-comodules with its stable model structure induces a monoidal model structure on $\mathcal{C}$. We consider the corresponding homotopy quotient $\gamma: \mathcal{C} \to Ho \mathcal{C}$ and the induced quotient $\mathcal{T} \to Ho \mathcal{T}$ for the tensor category $\mathcal{T}$ of finite dimensional $A$-comodules. Under some mild conditions we prove vanishing and finiteness theorems for morphisms in $Ho \mathcal{T}$. We apply these results in the $Rep (GL(m|n))$-case and study its homotopy category $Ho \mathcal{T}$.

Spinor Euler factors for GSp(4) in the subregular case

For local non-archimedean fields $k$, Piatetski-Shapiro has defined local spinor $L$-factors for irreducible representations $\Pi$ of $\mathrm{GSp}(4,k)$ of dimension $>1$, attached to a choice of a Bessel model $\Lambda$. We classify regular poles that do not come from the asymptotic of the Bessel functions in the Bessel model. For anisotropic Bessel models there are no such subregular poles.

Eulerian summation operators and a remarkable family of polynomials

We give several families of polynomials which are related by Eulerian summation operators. They satisfy interesting combinatorial properties like being integer-valued at integral points. This involves nearby-symmetries and a recursion for the values at half-integral points. We also obtain identities for super Catalan numbers.

On classical tensor categories attached to the irreducible representations of the General Linear Supergroups $GL(n\vert n)$

We study the quotient of $\mathcal{T}_n = Rep(GL(n|n))$ by the tensor ideal of negligible morphisms. If we consider the full subcategory $\mathcal{T}_n^+$ of $\mathcal{T}_n$ of indecomposable summands in iterated tensor products of irreducible representations up to parity shifts, its quotient is a semisimple tannakian category $Rep(H_n)$ where $H_n$ is a pro-reductive algebraic group. We determine the connected derived subgroup $G_n \subset H_n$ and the groups $G_{\lambda} = (H_{\lambda}^0)_{der}$ corresponding to the tannakian subcategory in $Rep(H_n)$ generated by an irreducible representation $L(\lambda)$. This gives structural information about the tensor category $Rep(GL(n|n))$, including the decomposition law of a tensor product of irreducible representations up to summands of superdimension zero. Some results are conditional on a hypothesis on $2$-torsion in $\pi_0(H_n)$.

Exceptional poles of local $L$-functions for $GSp(4)$ with respect to split Bessel models

Piateskii-Shapiro defined local $L$-factors $L^{PS}(s,\Pi,\Lambda)$ attached to irreducible admissible representations $\Pi$ of the group $GSp(4)$ over local fields and Bessel models of $\Pi$ attached to Bessel data $\Lambda$. These local $L$-factors decompose into a product $L^{PS}(s,\Pi,\Lambda)= L^{PS}_{ex}(s,\Pi,\Lambda) L^{PS}_{reg}(s,\Pi,\Lambda)$ of an exceptional and a regular $L$-factor. In this paper we compute the exceptional factors $L^{PS}_{ex}(s,\Pi,\Lambda)$ for split Bessel models of $\Pi$.

Phantom holomorphic projections arising from Sturm's formula

We show the analytic continuation of certain Siegel Poincar\'e series to their critical point for weight three in genus two. We proof that this continuation posesses a nonhomomorphic part and describe it. We show that Sturm's operator also produces a nonhomorphic share for weight three, we call it a phantom term. Weight three is the distinguished weight for genus two where this phenomenon arises.

Multiplicity one for certain paramodular forms of genus two

We show that certain paramodular cuspidal automorphic irreducible representations of $\mathrm{GSp}(4,\mathbb{A}_\mathbb{Q})$, which are not CAP, are globally generic. This implies a multiplicity one theorem for paramodular cuspidal automorphic representations. Our proof relies on a reasonable hypothesis concerning the non-vanishing of central values of automorphic $L$-series.

Cohomological Tensor Functors on Representations of the General Linear Supergroup

We define and study cohomological tensor functors from the category $T_n$ of finite-dimensional representations of the supergroup $Gl(n|n)$ into $T_{n-r}$ for $0 <r \leq n$. In the case $DS: T_n \to T_{n-1}$ we prove a formula $DS(L) = \bigoplus \Pi^{n_i} L_i$ for the image of an arbitrary irreducible representation. In particular $DS(L)$ is semisimple and multiplicity free. We derive a few applications of this theorem such as the degeneration of certain spectral sequences and a formula for the modified superdimension of an irreducible representation.

Semisimple Super Tannakian Categories with a small Tensor Generator

We consider semisimple super Tannakian categories generated by an object whose symmetric or alternating tensor square is simple up to trivial summands. Using representation theory, we provide a criterion to identify the corresponding Tannaka super groups that applies in many situations. As an example we discuss the tensor category generated by the convolution powers of an algebraic curve inside its Jacobian variety.

On the Tannaka group attached to the Theta divisor of a generic principally polarized abelian variety

To any closed subvariety $Y$ of a complex abelian variety one can attach a reductive algebraic group $G$ which is determined by the decomposition of the convolution powers of $Y$ via a certain Tannakian formalism. For a theta divisor $Y$ on a principally polarized abelian variety, this group $G$ provides a new invariant that naturally endows the moduli space $A_g$ of principally polarized abelian varieties of dimension $g$ with a finite constructible stratification. We determine $G$ for a generic principally polarized abelian variety, and for $g=4$ we show that the stratification detects the locus of Jacobian varieties inside the moduli space of abelian varieties.

Remarks on the Fundamental Lemma for stable twisted Endoscopy of Classical Groups

The twisted fundamental lemmas for three series of stable twisted endoscopy (Sp_{2n} to PGL_{2n+1}, GSpin_{2n+1} to GL_{2n}\times GL_1, Sp_{2n} to SO_{2n+2}) will be reduced to a fundamental-lemma-like statement for ordinary (i.e. untwisted) stable orbital integrals on the groups $\SO_{2n+1}$ of type $B_n$ resp. $\SP_{2n}$ of type $C_n$. This manusript, written around 2001, anticipates similar results of Waldspurger (2008), and may be used to reduce the twisted fundamental lemma to the work of Ngo. The original aim was to reduce the fundumantal lemma for the lift from Sp_4 to PGL_5 to the twisted fundamental lemma for the lift from GSp_4=GSpin_5 to Gl_4 \times GL_1.
