Disentangled Global-Local Feature Learning with E-Branchformer for Audio Deepfake Detection

The rapid advancement of voice synthesis technologies such as text-to-speech and voice conversion poses significant threats to speech-based authentication systems, necessitating robust deepfake detection methods. In this work, we propose a novel E-Branchformer-based architecture that effectively leverages self-supervised speech representations for audio deepfake detection. Our model employs parallel branches to simultaneously capture global contextual dependencies through multi-head self-attention and local temporal patterns through convolutional processing. To enhance discriminative capability, we integrate depthwise convolution and Squeeze-and-Excitation modules that enrich the classification token with refined patch token information after feature merging. Extensive experiments on ASVspoof 2021 LA, DF, and In-the-Wild datasets demonstrate state-of-the-art performance with equal error rates of 0.88%, 1.85%, and 6.30% respectively, substantially outperforming existing methods. Comprehensive ablation studies validate that the dual-branch architecture provides complementary discriminative information, Squeeze-and-Excitation Aggregation significantly improves SSL feature integration, and the combination of DWConv and SE modules is critical for effective class token enhancement. The superior performance on real-world scenarios demonstrates strong generalization capability to diverse acoustic conditions and unseen spoofing attacks.

KanAdapter: A Kolmogorov-Arnold Network-based Plug-and-Play Module for Efficient Fine-tuning of Foundation Speech Models

Fully fine-tuning self-supervised learning (SSL) speech models for downstream tasks is computationally prohibitive, and existing parameter-efficient fine-tuning approaches predominantly rely on MLP-based adapters whose fixed activation functions limit their representational expressiveness under tight parameter budgets. We propose \textbf{KanAdapter}, a lightweight adapter framework that replaces conventional MLP bottlenecks with Group-Rational Kolmogorov-Arnold Network (GR-KAN) modules for more expressive and parameter-efficient adaptation. Following a parallel bottleneck design, KanAdapter inserts trainable GR-KAN branches alongside frozen Transformer encoder blocks and leverages weight transfer from pre-trained MLP layers for stable initialization. Across speaker verification, speech emotion recognition, and deepfake detection, KanAdapter achieves up to 97.5\% reduction in trainable parameters relative to full fine-tuning while remaining highly competitive, and consistently outperforms AdaptFormer under comparable parameter budgets. In continual learning, it yields up to 83.6\% error reduction over full fine-tuning and MLP-based adapters, which we attribute to the localized nature of GR-KAN's rational activations that mitigates catastrophic forgetting. To our knowledge, this is the first work to explore KAN-based modules for parameter-efficient fine-tuning of speech foundation models.

dOPSD: On-Policy Self-Distillation for Diffusion Language Models

Diffusion large language models (dLLMs) generate text by iteratively denoising a masked sequence, offering a parallel alternative to autoregressive models, but eliciting strong reasoning through post-training remains difficult: supervised fine-tuning is off-policy and suffers from exposure bias, while reinforcement learning gives only sparse, sequence-level rewards and is hard to apply without tractable sequence likelihoods. On-policy self-distillation (OPSD) offers a promising alternative, using one model as both student and teacher to provide dense, token-level, on-policy supervision, but its effectiveness hinges on giving the teacher privileged information (PI) - typically an instance-specific ground-truth reference unavailable at inference - so the student ends up distilling a weak PI-free consensus policy that yields little improvement on dLLM reasoning. We introduce dOPSD, which instead derives the teacher's privilege directly from the student's own denoising trajectory, evaluating masked positions using later, more-decoded steps of that same trajectory rather than an external label, so the teacher's advantage emerges from the model's own decoding process; on Dream and LLaDA, dOPSD improves both in-domain math reasoning and out-of-domain code generation, outperforming supervised and on-policy baselines.

VieSpeaker: A Large-Scale Vietnamese Speaker Recognition Dataset Beyond Visual Dependency

Speaker recognition has advanced rapidly with large-scale training datasets, yet Vietnamese remains under-resourced, with existing corpora limited in scale and acoustic diversity. Most large-scale datasets rely on facial cues to link speech with speaker identities, restricting data collection to recordings where speakers appear on camera. We propose a face-independent dataset construction pipeline and introduce VieSpeaker, a large-scale Vietnamese speaker recognition dataset. Our approach leverages textual metadata and large language model reasoning to infer speaker identities from transcripts and contextual information. VieSpeaker contains approximately 902 hours of speech from 4,715 speakers. Experiments show that models trained on VieSpeaker achieve improved robustness and generalization compared to existing Vietnamese datasets. This work demonstrates the feasibility of face-independent dataset construction and provides a new direction for building large-scale speech resources.

TACT-ful: Multi-Channel Terrain Affordance and Compliance Training for Payload-Robust Perceptive Humanoid Locomotion

Foothold selection on structured terrain requires explicit reasoning about contact planarity, surface steepness, and kinematic reachability, properties not captured by a single height-based terrain signal. We propose a multi-channel terrain cost combining flatness, steepness, and velocity-aware height feasibility, plus a forward climb reward, that simultaneously drives a GPU-parallel divergent component of motion (DCM) foothold planner and shapes a dense per-step affordance reward for an asymmetric actor-critic policy trained with proximal policy optimization (PPO) from depth images. A Bézier swing trajectory with adaptive apex bias extends foothold tracking to joint position-and-orientation, using the arc tangent to guide sole orientation through riser crossings and tread landings. To support payload tasks, we introduce a lower-body compliance training procedure in which a virtual wrench is injected at a sampled load attachment point, generating physically consistent force and moment; wrench-aware compliance targets replace rigid pose penalties, and the policy learns to yield to load-induced perturbations without force sensing. The full system trains end-to-end with standard PPO, no distillation, and no teacher-student staging, and is deployed on a humanoid directly from simulation with configuration changes only. In simulation, the policy reaches $1.0~\mathrm{m/s}$ on stairs with risers up to $0.20~\mathrm{m}$ and improves payload robustness up to ${\sim}15~\mathrm{kg}$ centered load and for moment-dominated wrist loads without fine-tuning. We also provide a qualitative hardware demonstration on structured terrain. Project website: https://fai-rl-tech.github.io/tact-locomotion.github.io/

XLSR-Kanformer: A KAN-Intergrated model for Synthetic Speech Detection

Recent advancements in speech synthesis technologies have led to increasingly sophisticated spoofing attacks, posing significant challenges for automatic speaker verification systems. While systems based on self-supervised learning (SSL) models, particularly the XLSR-Conformer architecture, have demonstrated remarkable performance in synthetic speech detection, there remains room for architectural improvements. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that replaces the traditional Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) in the XLSR-Conformer model with a Kolmogorov-Arnold Network (KAN), a powerful universal approximator based on the Kolmogorov-Arnold representation theorem. Our experimental results on ASVspoof2021 demonstrate that the integration of KAN to XLSR-Conformer model can improve the performance by 60.55% relatively in Equal Error Rate (EER) LA and DF sets, further achieving 0.70% EER on the 21LA set. Besides, the proposed replacement is also robust to various SSL architectures. These findings suggest that incorporating KAN into SSL-based models is a promising direction for advances in synthetic speech detection.

VoxVietnam: a Large-Scale Multi-Genre Dataset for Vietnamese Speaker Recognition

Recent research in speaker recognition aims to address vulnerabilities due to variations between enrolment and test utterances, particularly in the multi-genre phenomenon where the utterances are in different speech genres. Previous resources for Vietnamese speaker recognition are either limited in size or do not focus on genre diversity, leaving studies in multi-genre effects unexplored. This paper introduces VoxVietnam, the first multi-genre dataset for Vietnamese speaker recognition with over 187,000 utterances from 1,406 speakers and an automated pipeline to construct a dataset on a large scale from public sources. Our experiments show the challenges posed by the multi-genre phenomenon to models trained on a single-genre dataset, and demonstrate a significant increase in performance upon incorporating the VoxVietnam into the training process. Our experiments are conducted to study the challenges of the multi-genre phenomenon in speaker recognition and the performance gain when the proposed dataset is used for multi-genre training.
