On the moments of Laguerre-Hahn linear forms of class zero

The purpose of this paper is to provide a constructive method for generating the moments of Laguerre-Hahn linear forms of class zero. The approach relies on a general algebraic system on the moments, equivalent to the Laguerre-Hahn functional equation for forms of arbitrary class, from which the restriction to class zero yields explicit recurrences allowing the entire moment sequence to be built recursively from the first moment. These recurrences are applied to each of the ten canonical class-zero families, and the corresponding first moments are derived explicitly via a {\it Mathematica$^{\circledR}$} implementation.

A description of the Laguerre-Hahn orthogonal polynomials of class zero revisited

This paper has a threefold aim. On the one hand, we provide a complete description of Laguerre-Hahn forms of class zero. This fills a gap in the literature: more precisely, up to an affine change of variables, there are ten families, including two new ones analogous to the Bessel classical family. On the other hand, we establish the structure relations for all these families, correcting those that have previously been reported in the literature. At last, as an application, using an algorithm previously obtained, with the aid of symbolic computations, we derive four new structure relations and a new fourth-order differential equation for one of the new families analogous to Bessel.

On a general method for deriving a fourth-order differential equation satisfied by Laguerre-Hahn orthogonal polynomials with new results for the class 0 analogous to Hermite

In this work, we develop a constructive method for deriving four structure relations and a fourth-order linear differential equation satisfied by Laguerre-Hahn orthogonal polynomial sequences. The method relies on a combination of structure relations, their successive derivatives, and algebraic elimination techniques. Particular attention is given to semiclassical and classical families, which are recovered as special cases within this general framework. The approach is systematized in the form of an algorithm. Using symbolic computations, we obtain explicit new results for Laguerre-Hahn polynomials of class zero, analogous to the Hermite case. In addition, we present results for a semiclassical example of class 1.

On a new class of 2-orthogonal polynomials, II_The integral representations

A new class of 2-orthogonal polynomials satisfying orthogonality conditions with respect to a pair of linear functionals $(u_0,u_1)$ was presented in Douak K & Maroni P [On a new class of 2-orthogonal polynomials, I: the recurrence relations and some properties. Integral Transforms Spec Funct. 2021;32(2):134-153]. Six interesting special cases were pointed out there. For each case, we precisely deal with the integral representation problem for the functionals associated to these polynomials. The focus is on the matrix differential equation $\big({\bf\Phi U}\big)'+{\bf\Psi U}=0$, with ${\bf U}={^t}(u_0 , u_1)$ and ${\bf\Phi}$, ${\bf\Psi}$ are $2\times2$ polynomial matrices, from which we establish the differential equations satisfied by the two functionals. Based on this, depending on the case, we show that $u_0$ and $u_1$ are represented via weight functions supported on the real line or positive real line and defined in terms of various special functions. In order for certain integral representations to exist, addition of Dirac mass is necessary.

Appell polynomial sequences with respect to some differential operators

We present a study of a specific kind of lowering operator, herein called $Λ$, which is defined as a finite sum of lowering operators, proving that this configuration can be altered, for instance, by the use of Stirling numbers. We characterize the polynomial sequences fulfilling an Appell relation with respect to $Λ$, and considering a concrete cubic decomposition of a simple Appell sequence, we prove that the polynomial component sequences are $Λ$-Appell, with $Λ$ defined as previously, although by a three term sum. Ultimately, we prove the non-existence of orthogonal polynomial sequences which are also $Λ$-Appell, when $Λ$ is the lowering operator $Λ=a_{0}D+a_{1}DxD+a_{2}\left(Dx\right)^2D$, where $a_{0}$, $a_{1}$ and $a_{2}$ are constants and $a_{2} \neq 0$. The case where $a_{2}=0$ and $a_{1} \neq 0$ is also naturally recaptured.
