On the size of the set of unbounded multilinear operators between Banach spaces

Among other results we investigate $\left( \alpha,\beta\right) $-lineability of the set of non-continuous $m$-linear operators defined between normed spaces as a subset of the space of all $m$-linear operators. We also give a partial answer to an open problem on the lineability of the set of non absolutely summing operators.

Extension of Lipschitz-type operators on Banach function spaces

We study extension theorems for Lipschitz-type operators acting on metric spaces and with values on spaces of integrable functions. Pointwise domination is not a natural feature of such spaces, and so almost everywhere inequalities and other measure-theoretic notions are introduced.%more appropriate. Thus, we adapt the classical definition of Lipschitz map to the context of spaces of integrable functions by introducing such elements. We analyze Lipschitz type inequalities in two fundamental cases. The first concerns a.e. pointwise inequalities, while the second considers dominations involving integrals. These Lipschitz type inequalities provide the suitable frame to work with operators that take values on Banach function spaces. In the last part of the paper we use some interpolation procedures to extend our study to interpolated Banach function spaces.

On coincidence results for summing multilinear operators: interpolation, $\ell_1$-spaces and cotype

Grothendieck's theorem asserts that every continuous linear operator from $\ell_1$ to $\ell_2$ is absolutely $(1,1)$-summing. This kind of result is commonly called coincidence result. In this paper we investigate coincidence results in the multilinear setting, showing how the cotype of the spaces involved affect such results. The special role played by $\ell_1$ spaces is also investigated with relation to interpolation of tensor products. In particular, an open problem on the interpolation of $m$ injective tensor products is solved.

When are the Hardy-Littlewood inequalities contractive?

The optimal constants of the $m$-linear Bohnenblust-Hille and Hardy-Littlewood inequalities are still not known despite its importance in several fields of Mathematics. For the Bohnenblust-Hille inequality and real scalars it is well-known that the optimal constants are not contractive. In this note, among other results, we show that if we consider sums over $M:=M(m)$ indexes with $M\log M=o(m)$, the optimal constants are contractive. For instance, we can consider% \[ M=\left\lfloor \frac{m}{\left( \log m\right) ^{1+\frac{1}{\log\log\log m}}% }\right\rfloor \] where $\lfloor x\rfloor:=\max\{n\in\mathbb{N}:n\leq x\}.$ In particular, if $\varepsilon>0$ and $M:=M(m)\leq m^{1-\varepsilon},$ then the Bohnenblust-Hille inequality restricted to sums over $M$ indexes is contractive.

On $p$-Dunford integrable functions with values in Banach spaces

Let $(\Omega,\Sigma,\mu)$ be a complete probability space, $X$ a Banach space and $1\leq p<\infty$. In this paper we discuss several aspects of $p$-Dunford integrable functions $f:\Omega \to X$. Special attention is paid to the compactness of the Dunford operator of $f$. We also study the $p$-Bochner integrability of the composition $u\circ f:\Omega \to Y$, where $u$ is a $p$-summing operator from $X$ to another Banach space $Y$. Finally, we also provide some tests of $p$-Dunford integrability by using $w^*$-thick subsets of $X^*$.

The Dvoretsky-Rogers Theorem for vector valued integrals on function spaces

We show a Dvoretsky-Rogers type Theorem for the adapted version of the $q$-summing operators to the topology of the convergence of the vector valued integrals on Banach function spaces. In the pursuit of this objective we prove that the mere summability of the identity map does not guaranty that the space has to be finite dimensional, contrarily to the classical case. Some local compactness assumptions on the unit balls are required. Our results open the door to new convergence theorems and tools regarding summability of series of integrable functions and approximation in function spaces, since we may find infinite dimensional spaces in which convergence of the integrals ---our vector valued version of convergence in the weak topology--- is equivalent to the convergence with respect to the norm. Examples and applications are also given.

Domination spaces and factorization of linear and multilinear summing operators

It is well known that not every summability property for non linear operators leads to a factorization theorem. In this paper we undertake a detailed study of factorization schemes for summing linear and nonlinear operators. Our aim is to integrate under the same theory a wide family of classes of mappings for which a Pietsch type factorization theorem holds. We analyze the class of linear operators that are defined by a summability inequality involving a homogeneous map. Our construction includes the cases of absolutely $p$-summing linear operators, $(p,\sigma)$-absolutely continuous linear operators, factorable strongly $p$-summing multilinear operators, $(p_1,\ldots,p_n)$-dominated multilinear operators and dominated $(p_1,\ldots, p_n;\sigma)$-continuous multilinear operators.

On summability of multilinear operators and applications

This paper has two clear motivations: a technical and a practical. The technical motivation unifies in a single and crystal clear formulation a huge family of inequalities that have been produced separately in the last 90 years in different contexts. But we do not just join inequalities; our method also create a family of inequalities invisible by previous approaches. The practical motivation is to show that our deeper approach has strength to attack various problems. We provide new applications of our family of inequalities, continuing the recent work by Maia et al., that, by using our main theorem, substantially improved an inequality of Carando et al. which seemed impossible to be achieved by their original method.

Competing supersolids of Bose-Bose mixtures in a triangular lattice

We study the ground state properties of a frustrated two-species mixture of hard-core bosons on a triangular lattice, as a function of tunable amplitudes for tunnelling and interactions. By combining three different methods, a self-consistent cluster mean-field, exact diagonalizations and effective theories, we unravel a very rich and complex phase diagram. More specifically, we discuss the existence of three original mixture supersolids: (i) a commensurate with frozen densities and supersolidity in spin degrees of freedom, in a regime of strong interspecies interactions; and (ii) when this interaction is weaker, two mutually competing incommensurate supersolids. Finally, we show how these phases can be stabilized by a quantum fluctuation enhancement of peculiar insulating parent states.

When is the Haar measure a Pietsch measure for nonlinear mappings?

We show that, as in the linear case, the normalized Haar measure on a compact topological group $G$ is a Pietsch measure for nonlinear summing mappings on closed translation invariant subspaces of $C(G)$. This answers a question posed to the authors by J. Diestel. We also show that our result applies to several well-studied classes of nonlinear summing mappings. In the final section some problems are proposed.

Dominated bilinear forms and 2-homogeneous polynomials

The main goal of this note is to establish a connection between the cotype of the Banach space X and the parameters r for which every 2-homogeneous polynomial on X is r-dominated. Let cotX be the infimum of the cotypes assumed by X and (cotX)* be its conjugate. The main result of this note asserts that if cotX > 2, then for every 1<= r < (cotX)* there exists a non-r-dominated 2-homogeneous polynomial on X.
