Analysis of $\itΛ^\mathrm{0}_b \rightarrow pK^-μ^+μ^-$ decays

The differential branching fraction and angular coefficients of $\itΛ^\mathrm{0}_b \rightarrow pK^-μ^+μ^-$ decays are measured in bins of the dimuon mass squared and dihadron mass. The analysis is performed using a data set corresponding to 9$\text{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected with the $\mbox{LHCb}$ detector between 2011 and 2018. The data are consistent with receiving contributions from a mixture of $\itΛ$ resonances with different spin-parity quantum numbers. The angular coefficients show a pattern of vector-axial vector interference that is a characteristic of the type of flavour-changing neutral-current transition relevant for these decays.

Amplitude analysis of the $Ξ^+_c\to pK^-π^+$ decay and $Ξ^+_c$ baryon polarization measurement in semileptonic beauty-hadron decays

An amplitude analysis of the $Ξ^+_c\to pK^-π^+$ decay together with a measurement of the $Ξ^+_c$ polarization vector in semileptonic beauty-hadron decays is presented. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$. An amplitude model is developed and the resonance fractions as well as two- and three-body decay parameters are reported. A sizeable $Ξ^+_c$ polarization is found. A large sensitivity of the $Ξ^+_c\to pK^-π^+$ decay to the polarization is seen, making the amplitude model suitable for $Ξ^+_c$ polarization measurements in other systems.

First measurement of $b$-jet mass with and without grooming

The LHCb collaboration presents a novel suite of heavy-flavour jet substructure measurements at forward rapidity in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV. The jet mass is a perturbatively calculable probe of the virtuality of hard-scattered quarks and gluons, connecting small-distance quantum chromodynamics (QCD) with long-distance experimental measurement. It becomes dominated by nonperturbative corrections at small values, presenting an excellent test of QCD across a broad range of energies. Measuring heavy-flavour jet mass with a theoretically unambiguous flavour definition for the first time probes the gluon splitting mechanism for heavy-flavour production and pushes tests of perturbative QCD to unprecedented theoretical precision. Utilising the soft drop jet-grooming technique to access the perturbative jet core further enhances constraints on first-principles theory. Measurements of the jet mass for jets containing fully reconstructed $B^\pm$ hadrons are reported with and without grooming. These results offer unparalleled tests of quark flavour and mass dependence in QCD and provide a baseline for future studies of heavy-flavour jet quenching in heavy-ion collisions.

Improved measurement of $η/ η^{\prime}$ mixing in $B^{0}_{(s)} \rightarrow J/ψη^{(\prime)}$ decays

Branching fraction ratios between the decays $B^{0}_{(s)} \rightarrow J/ψη^{(\prime)}$ are measured using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of $7$, $8$ and $13~\textrm{TeV}$, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $9~ \textrm{fb}^{-1}$. The measured ratios of these branching fractions are $\frac{BF(B^{0} \rightarrow J/ψη^{\prime})}{BF(B^{0} \rightarrow J/ψη)} = 0.48 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.01$ and $\frac{BF(B^{0}_{s} \rightarrow J/ψη^{\prime})}{BF(B^{0}_{s} \rightarrow J/ψη)} = 0.80 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.01$, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic and related to the precision of the $η^{(\prime)}$ branching fractions, respectively. They are used to constrain the $η/η^{\prime}$ mixing angle, $ϕ_{P}$, and to probe the presence of a possible glueball component in the $η^{\prime}$ meson, described by the gluonic mixing angle $ϕ_{G}$. The obtained results are $ϕ_{P} = (41.6^{+1.0}_{-1.2})^\circ$ and $ϕ_{G} = (28.1^{+3.9}_{-4.0})^\circ$, where the uncertainties are statistically dominated. While the value of $ϕ_{P}$ is compatible with existing experimental determinations and theoretical calculations, the angle $ϕ_{G}$ differs from zero by more than four standard deviations, which points to a substantial glueball component in the $η^{\prime}$ meson and/or unexpectedly large contributions from gluon-mediated processes in these decays. The absolute branching fractions are also measured relative to that of the well-established $B^{0}_{s} \rightarrow J/ψϕ$ decay, which serves as the normalisation channel. These results supersede the previous LHCb measurements and are the most precise to date.

Measurement of the Lund plane for light- and beauty-quark jets

The substructure of jets in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) has garnered significant attention with the advent of infrared- and collinear-safe clustering algorithms and observables. A key question emerging from these studies is how in-jet emissions at soft and hard energy scales, across collinear and wide angles relative to the emitter, differ with the mass of the emitting parton. The Lund jet plane (LJP) is a perturbatively well-defined substructure observable that maps the radiation pattern of jets onto a plane, visually distinguishing emissions with different kinematic properties. Comparing LJP for jets containing hadrons of low versus high mass enables the testing of QCD splitting functions from first-principles calculations across both soft and hard regimes and at different radiation angles. This article presents the first measurement of the LJP for light-quark-enriched and beauty-initiated jets at center-of-mass energy of 13\tev at LHCb. This marks the first direct observation of the dead-cone effect in beauty-quark jets, measured in the collinear region of the LJP.

Rapidity and multiplicity dependence of charged-particle flow in $p$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 8.16$ TeV

The elliptic and triangular flow of charged particles are measured using two-particle angular correlations in $p$Pb collisions in the pseudorapidity range \cal{2.0 $< |η| <$ 4.8}. The data sample was collected by the LHCb experiment in 2016 at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 8.16$ TeV, containing in total approximately 1.5 billion collision events. Non-flow contributions are obtained in low-multiplicity collisions and subtracted to extract the flow harmonics. The results are presented as a function of event multiplicity and hadron transverse momentum. Comparisons with a full (3+1)D dynamic model indicate that it overestimates the measured elliptic flow. A comparison between the forward and backward regions reveals no significant differences in flow parameters, suggesting that final-state effects may dominate over initial-state effects in the origin of flow in small systems.

Observation of the doubly-charmed-baryon decay ${\it Ξ}_{cc}^{++}\to{\it Ξ}_{c}^{0}π^{+}π^{+}$

A search for the doubly-charmed-baryon decay ${\it Ξ}_{cc}^{++}\to{\it Ξ}_{c}^{0}π^{+}π^{+}$ is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of $13\text{TeV}$ and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $5.4\text{fb}^{-1}$. A significant structure consistent with the ${\it Ξ}_{cc}^{++}$ baryon is observed in the ${\it Ξ}_{c}^{0} π^{+}π^{+}$ invariant-mass spectrum. Using the ${\it Ξ}_{cc}^{++}\to{\it Λ}_{c}^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}$ decay as the normalisation channel, the branching fraction ratio, $\frac{{\cal B}({\it Ξ}_{cc}^{++} \to {\it Ξ}_{c}^{0}π^{+}π^{+})} {{\cal B}({\it Ξ}_{cc}^{++}\to{\it Λ}_{c}^{+} K^{-}π^{+}π^{+})}$, is measured to be $1.37\pm 0.18\text{(stat)} \pm 0.09\text{(syst)} \pm 0.35\text{(ext)}$. This measurement provides critical input for testing QCD factorisation methods in the weak decays of doubly-heavy baryons, particularly in quantifying nonperturbative effects such as final-state interactions and resonance contributions to the hadronisation process.

Measurement of branching fractions and $CP$ asymmetries in $\mathitΛ_b^0(\mathitΞ_b^0)\!\to pK_{\mathrm S}^0h^-$ decays

A study of $\mathitΛ_b^0$ and $\mathitΞ_b^0$ baryon decays to the final states $pK_{\mathrm S}^0π^-$ and $pK_{\mathrm S}^0K^-$ is performed using $pp$ collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $9\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The decays $\mathitΛ_b^0\!\to pK_{\mathrm S}^0K^-$ and $\mathitΞ_b^0\!\to pK_{\mathrm S}^0K^-$ are observed for the first time, with significances reaching eight standard deviations. The branching fractions and integrated $CP$ asymmetries are measured for the $\mathitΛ_b^0\!\to pK_{\mathrm S}^0π^-$, $\mathitΛ_b^0\!\to pK_{\mathrm S}^0K^-$, and $\mathitΞ_b^0\!\to pK_{\mathrm S}^0K^-$ decays. For the decay $\mathitΛ_b^0\!\to pK_{\mathrm S}^0π^-$, the $CP$ asymmetries are measured in different regions of the Dalitz plot. No evidence of $CP$ violation is observed.

Test of $CP$ Symmetry in the Neutral Decays of $Λ$ via $J/ψ\toΛ\barΛ$

Using $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a full angular distribution analysis is carried out on the process $J/ψ\rightarrowΛ\barΛ\rightarrow nπ^{0}\bar{p}π^{+}+c.c.$ The decay parameters $α_{0}$ for $Λ\rightarrow nπ^{0}$ and $\barα_{0}$ for $\barΛ\rightarrow \bar{n}π^{0}$ are measured to be $0.668\pm0.007\pm0.002$ and $-0.677\pm0.007\pm0.003$, respectively, yielding the most precise test for $CP$ symmetry of neutral decays of $Λ$, $A_{CP}^{0}=(α_{0}+\barα_{0})/(α_{0}-\barα_{0})$, to be $-0.006\pm0.007\pm0.002$. The ratios $α_{0}/α_{-}$ and $\barα_{0}/α_{+}$ are determined to be $0.884\pm0.013\pm0.006$ and $0.885\pm0.013\pm0.004$, where $α_{-}$ and $α_{+}$ are the decay parameters of $Λ\rightarrow pπ^{-}$ and $\barΛ\rightarrow\bar{p}π^{+}$, respectively. The ratios, found to be smaller than unity by more than $5σ$, confirm the presence of the $ΔI = 3/2$ transition in the $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ decays, which is expected to improve the theoretical calculations for strong and weak phases, and $A_{CP}$, in hyperon decays. In all results, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Measurements of the absolute branching fractions of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $D^+\to K^+π^0$, $D^+\to K^+η$ and $D^+\to K^+η^{\prime}$

Using $20.3\,\rm fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773\,GeV with the BESIII detector, we present the measurements of the absolute branching fractions of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $D^+\to K^+π^0$, $D^+\to K^+η$ and $ D^+ \to K^+ η^{\prime}$ with the double-tag method, with significantly improved precision compared to the previous measurements. The statistical significance of each signal decay exceeds $10σ$. The branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to K^+ π^0) = (1.45 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.08)\times 10^{-4}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to K^+ η) = (1.17 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.03)\times 10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to K^+ η^{\prime}) = (1.88 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.11)\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The branching fractions of $D^+\to K^+η$ and $ D^+ \to K^+ η^{\prime}$ are consistent with the world average values. The reported branching fraction of $D^+\to K^+π^0$ deviates with the world average value by 3$σ$.

First observation of $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+} \to Λ^{+}_{c}π^0π^0$ and $Λ_{c}(2625)^{+}\to Λ^{+}_{c}π^0π^0$

By analysing $e^+e^-$ annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 368.48~pb$^{-1}$ collected at the centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s} = 4.918$ and $4.951$~GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}$ and $Λ_{c}(2625)^{+}\to Λ^{+}_{c}π^0π^0$ with statistical significances of 7.9$σ$ and 11.8$σ$, respectively. The branching fractions of $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}$ and $Λ_{c}(2625)^{+}\to Λ^{+}_{c}π^0π^0$ are measured to be $(59.5 \pm 11.1_{\rm stat.} \pm 7.9_{\rm syst.}) \%$ and $(41.0 \pm 5.2_{\rm stat.} \pm 3.3_{\rm syst.}) \%$, respectively. The absolute branching fraction of $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}$ is consistent with the expectation of the mechanism referred to as the threshold effect, proposed for the strong decays of $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}$ within uncertainty.

Our results provide the most stringent experimental constraints on these decays.

Measurements of absolute branching fractions of $D^{0(+)}\to KKKπ$ decays

Using an $e^+e^-$ sample of $20.3\,\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=$ 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we report measurements of several four-body hadronic decays of the $D$ mesons. The absolute branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^0_S K^+K^-π^0 )=( 18.4^{+2.6}_{-2.5}\pm 2.4)\times 10^{-5}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^0_S K^0_S K^-π^+ )=( 12.9^{+1.7}_{-1.6}\pm 2.5)\times 10^{-5}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^0_S K^0_S K^+π^-)=(5.7^{+1.2}_{-1.1}\pm 1.3)\times 10^{-5}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^+K^-K^-π^+ )=(17.4^{+1.8}_{-1.7}\pm { 2.2})\times 10^{-5}$, and ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to K^0_S K^+K^-π^+)=(13.8^{+2.4}_{-2.2}\pm 2.5)\times 10^{-5}$. Furthermore, significant $ϕ$ signals are found in the decay channels involving $K^+K^-$ pair, and the corresponding branching fractions are measured as ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to ϕK^0_Sπ^0 )=( 22.7^{+5.4}_{-5.1}\pm 3.7)\times 10^{-5}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to ϕK^-π^+ )=(25.2^{+3.5}_{-3.3}\pm 4.6)\times 10^{-5}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to ϕK^0_Sπ^+)=(16.5 ^{+6.0}_{-5.3}\pm 2.6 )\times 10^{-5}$. The branching fractions of $D^0\to K^0_S K^+K^-π^0$, $D^0\to ϕK^0_Sπ^0$, and $D^+\to ϕK^0_S π^+$ are measured for the first time, and those of $D^0\to K^0_S K^0_SK^-π^+$, $D^0\to K^0_S K^0_SK^+π^-$, $D^0\to K^+K^-K^-π^+$, $D^0\to ϕK^-π^+$, and $D^+\to K^0_S K^+K^-π^+$ are measured with improved precision. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Updated measurement of $CP$ violation and polarisation in $B^0_s \rightarrow J/ψ\overline{K}{}^{*}\kern-1pt(892)^{0}$ decays

A time-integrated angular analysis of the decay $B^0_s \rightarrow J/ψ\overline{K}{}^{*}\kern-1pt(892)^{0}$, with $J/ψ\rightarrow μ^{+} μ^{-}$ and $\overline{K}{}^{*}\kern-1pt(892)^{0} \rightarrow K^{-} π^{+}$, is presented. The analysis employs a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment during 2015-2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of $13 \text{TeV}$, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $6 \text{fb}^{-1}$. A simultaneous maximum-likelihood fit is performed to the angular distributions in bins of the $K^{-} π^{+}$ mass. This fit yields measurements of the $CP$-averaged polarisation fractions and $CP$ asymmetries for the P-wave component of the $K^{-} π^{+}$ system. The longitudinal and parallel polarisation fractions are determined to be $f_{0} = 0.534 \pm 0.012 \pm 0.009$ and $f_{\parallel} = 0.211 \pm 0.014 \pm 0.005$, respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The $CP$ asymmetries are measured with $3$-$7\%$ precision and are found to be consistent with zero. These measurements, along with an updated determination of the branching fraction relative to the $B^0 \rightarrow J/ψK^{*0}$ decay, are combined with previous LHCb results, providing the most precise values for these observables to date.

Observation of a new charmed baryon decaying to $Ξ_c^+ π^- π^+$

Four states are observed with high significance, and their masses and widths are measured to be \begin{align*} m[Ξ_c(2815)^{+}] &= 2816.65 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.23 ~\text{MeV}, Γ[Ξ_c(2815)^{+}] &= 2.07 \pm 0.08 \pm 0.12~\text{MeV},\\[5pt] m[Ξ_c(2923)^{+}] &= 2922.8 \pm 0.3 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.2~\text{MeV}, Γ[Ξ_c(2923)^{+}] &= 5.3 \pm 0.9 \pm 1.4~\text{MeV},\\[5pt] m[Ξ_c(2970)^{+}] &= 2968.6 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.2~\text{MeV}, Γ[Ξ_c(2970)^{+}] &= 31.7 \pm 1.7 \pm 1.9~\text{MeV},\\[5pt] m[Ξ_c(3080)^{+}] &= 3076.8 \pm 0.7 \pm 1.3 \pm 0.2~\text{MeV}, Γ[Ξ_c(3080)^{+}] &= 6.8 \pm 2.3 \pm 0.9~\text{MeV}, \end{align*} where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the limited precision on the $Ξ_c^+$ mass, respectively. The $Ξ_c(2923)^{+}$ baryon is observed for the first time, and is consistent with being the isospin partner of the previously observed $Ξ_c(2923)^{0}$ state. Most of the measured parameters are more precise than existing world averages.

Observation of $D^+\to K^0_Sπ^0μ^+ν_μ$, Test of Lepton Flavor Universality and First Angular Analysis of $D^+\to \bar{K}^\ast(892)^0\ell^+ν_\ell$

We report a study of the semileptonic decays $D^+\to K_S^0π^0\ell^+ν_\ell$ ($\ell = e, μ$) based on $20.3\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The $D^+\to K_S^0π^0μ^+ν_μ$ decay is observed for the first time, with a branching fraction of $(0.896\pm0.017_{\rm stat}\pm0.008_{\rm syst})\%$, and the branching fraction of $D^+\to K_S^0π^0e^+ν_e$ is determined with the improved precision as $(0.943\pm0.012_{\rm stat}\pm0.010_{\rm syst})\%$. From the analysis of the dynamics, we observe that the dominant $\bar{K}^\ast(892)^0$ component is accompanied by an $S$-wave contribution, which accounts for $(7.10 \pm 0.68_{\rm stat} \pm 0.41_{\rm syst})\%$ of the total decay rate of the $μ^+$ channel and $(6.39 \pm 0.17_{\rm stat} \pm 0.14_{\rm syst})\%$ of the $e^+$ channel. Assuming a single-pole dominance parameterization, the hadronic form factor ratios are extracted to be $r_V=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.42 \pm\, 0.03_{\rm stat} \pm\, 0.02_{\rm syst}$ and $r_2=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.75 \pm\, 0.03_{\rm stat} \pm\, 0.01_{\rm syst}$. Based on the first comprehensive angular and the decay-rate $CP$ asymmetry analysis, the full set of averaged angular and $CP$ asymmetry observables are measured as a function of the momentum-transfer squared; they are consistent with expectations from the Standard Model. No evidence for violation of $μ-e$ lepton-flavor universality is observed in either the full range or the five chosen bins of momentum-transfer squared.

Study of $ϕ\to K\bar{K}$ and $K_{S}^{0}-K_{L}^{0}$ Asymmetry in the Amplitude Analysis of $D_{s}^{+} \to K_{S}^{0}K_{L}^{0}π^{+}$ Decays

Using $e^+e^-$ annihilation data corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 7.33 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226~GeV with the BESIII detector, we provide the first amplitude analysis and absolute branching fraction measurement of the hadronic decay $D_{s}^{+} \to K_{S}^{0}K_{L}^{0}π^{+}$. The branching fraction of $D_{s}^{+} \to K_{S}^{0}K_{L}^{0}π^{+}$ is determined to be $(1.86\pm0.06_{\rm stat}\pm0.03_{\rm syst})\%$. Combining the $\mathcal{B}[D_{s}^{+} \to ϕ(\to K_{S}^0K_{L}^0) π^+]$ obtained in this work and the world average of $\mathcal{B}[D_{s}^{+} \to ϕ(\to K^+K^-) π^+]$, we measure the relative branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(ϕ\to K_S^0K_L^0)/\mathcal{B}(ϕ\to K^+K^-)$=($0.593 \pm 0.023_{\rm stat} \pm 0.014_{\rm syst} \pm 0.016_{ϕπ}$), where the third error is due to the uncertainty of the $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to ϕπ^+,ϕ\to K^+K^-)$. Our result deviates from the Particle Data Group value by more than 3$σ$. Furthermore, the asymmetry of the branching fractions of $D^+_s\to K_{S}^0K^{*}(892)^{+}$ and $D^+_s\to K_{L}^0K^{*}(892)^{+}$, $\frac{\mathcal{B}[D_{s}^{+} \to K_{S}^0K^{*}(892)^{+}]-\mathcal{B}[D_{s}^{+} \to K_{L}^0K^{*}(892)^{+}]}{\mathcal{B}[D_{s}^{+} \to K_{S}^0K^{*}(892)^{+}]+\mathcal{B}[D_{s}^{+} \to K_{L}^0K^{*}(892)^{+}]}$, is determined to be $(-14.5\pm 5.1_{\rm stat}\pm 1.8_{\rm syst})\%$.
