New Horizons: Scalar and Vector Ultralight Dark Matter

The last decade has seen unprecedented effort in dark matter model building at all mass scales coupled with the design of numerous new detection strategies. Transformative advances in quantum technologies have led to a plethora of new high-precision quantum sensors and dark matter detection strategies for ultralight ($<10\,$eV) bosonic dark matter that can be described by an oscillating classical, largely coherent field. This white paper focuses on searches for wavelike scalar and vector dark matter candidates.

Scalar Polynomial Curvature Invariants in the Context of the Cartan-Karlhede Algorithm

We employ the Cartan-Karlhede algorithm in order to completely characterize the class of G\"odel-like spacetimes for three-dimensional gravity. By examining the permitted Segre types (or P-types) for the Ricci tensor we present the results of the Cartan-Karlhede algorithm for each subclass in terms of the algebraically independent Cartan invariants at each order. Using this smaller subset of Cartan invariants we express the scalar polynomial curvature invariants for the G\"odel-like spacetimes in terms of this subset of Cartan invariants and generate a minimal set of scalar polynomial curvature invariants that uniquely characterize metrics in the class of G\"odel-like spacetimes and identify the subclasses in terms of the P-types of the Ricci tensor.

Mathematical Properties of a Class of Four-dimensional Neutral Signature Metrics

While the Lorenzian and Riemanian metrics for which all polynomial scalar curvature invariants vanish (the VSI property) are well-studied, less is known about the four-dimensional neutral signature metrics with the VSI property. Recently it was shown that the neutral signature metrics belong to two distinct subclasses: the Walker and Kundt metrics. In this paper we have chosen an example from each of the two subcases of the Ricci-flat VSI Walker metrics respectively. To investigate the difference between the metrics we determine the existence of a null, geodesic, expansion-free, shear-free and vorticity-free vector, and classify these spaces using their infinitesimal holonomy algebras. The geometric implications of the holonomy algebras are further studied by identifying the recurrent or covariantly constant null vectors, whose existence is required by the holonomy structure in each example. We conclude the paper with a simple example of the equivalence algorithm for these pseudo-Riemannian manifolds, which is the only approach to classification that provides all necessary information to determine equivalence.
