Utilizing AI and Machine Learning for Predictive Analysis of Post-Treatment Cancer Recurrence

In oncology, recurrence after treatment is one of the major challenges, related to patients' survival and quality of life. Conventionally, prediction of cancer relapse has always relied on clinical observation with statistical model support, which almost fails to explain the complex, multifactorial nature of tumor recurrence. This research explores how AI and ML models may increase the accuracy and reliability of recurrence prediction in cancer. Therefore, AI and ML create new opportunities not only for personalized medicine but also for proactive management of patients through analyzing large volumes of data on genetics, clinical manifestations, and treatment. The paper describes the various AI and ML techniques for pattern identification and outcome prediction in cancer patients using supervised and unsupervised learning. Clinical implications provide an opportunity to review how early interventions could happen and the design of treatment planning.

Estimation in the Gaussian Multiplex Channel

An abstraction for multisensor communication termed the Gaussian Multiplex Channel is presented and analyzed. In this model, the sensor outputs can be added together in any combination through a network of switches, and the combinations can be changed arbitrarily during the observation interval. The sensor output sums are observed in additive Gaussian noise. Using a mean square error cost function and a constraint on the total observation time, an optimal set of combinations (switch positions) and observation times is determined. The solution exhibits high complexity (number of different combinations) even for moderate numbers of sensors. It is then shown that there exists an alternative solution based on Hadamard designs, which achieves the same minimizing MSE cost function and only requires a number of combinations equal to the number of sensors.

An Ontology-based Collaborative Business Intelligence Framework

Business Intelligence constitutes a set of methodologies and tools aiming at querying, reporting, on-line analytic processing (OLAP), generating alerts, performing business analytics, etc. When in need to perform these tasks collectively by different collaborators, we need a Collaborative Business Intelligence (CBI) platform. CBI plays a significant role in targeting a common goal among various companies, but it requires them to connect, organize and coordinate with each other to share opportunities, respecting their own autonomy and heterogeneity. This paper presents a CBI platform that hat democratizes data by allowing BI users to easily connect, share and visualize data among collaborators, obtain actionable answers by collaborative analysis, investigate and make collaborative decisions, and also store the analyses along graphical diagrams and charts in a collaborative ontology knowledge base. Our CBI framework supports and assists information sharing, collaborative decision-making and annotation management beyond the boundaries of individuals and enterprises.

Ontology-based Mediation with Quality Criteria

This paper presents a semantic system named OntMed for an ontology-based data integration of heterogeneous data sources to achieve interoperability between heterogeneous data sources. Our system is based on the quality criteria (consistency, completeness and conciseness) for building the reliable analysis contexts to provide an accurate unified view of data to the end user. The generation of an error-free global analysis context with the semantic validation of initial mappings generates accuracy, and provides the means to access and exchange information in semantically sound manner. In addition, data integration in this way becomes more practical for dynamic situations and helps decision maker to work within more consistent and reliable virtual data warehouse. We also discuss our successful participation in the Ontology Alignment for Query Answering (OA4QA) track at OAEI 2015 campaign, where our system (DKP-AOM) has performed fair enough and became one of only matchers whose alignments allowed answering all the queries of the evaluation.

The Collaborative Business Intelligence Ontology (CBIOnt)

In the current era, many disciplines are seen devoted towards ontology development for their domains with the intention of creating, disseminating and managing resource descriptions of their domain knowledge into machine understandable and processable manner. Ontology construction is a difficult group activity that involves many people with the different expertise. Generally, domain experts are not familiar with the ontology implementation environments and implementation experts do not have all the domain knowledge. We have designed Collaborative Business Intelligence Ontology (CBIOnt) for BI4People project. In this paper, we present CBIOnt that is OWL 2 DL ontology for the description of collaborative session between different collaborators working together on the business intelligent platform. As the collaborative session between various collaborators belongs to some collaborative form, phase and research aspect, therefore CBIOnt captures this knowledge along with the collaborative session content (comments, questions, answers, etc.) so that one can inference various types of information stored on ontologies when required. In addition, it stores the location and temporal-spatial information about the collaboration held between collaborators. We believe CBIOnt serves as a formal framework for dealing with the collaborative session taken place among collaborators on the semantic Web.

Heuristic Sensing Schemes for Four-Target Detection in Time-Constrained Vector Poisson and Gaussian Channels

In this work, we investigate the different sensing schemes for the detection of four targets as observed through a vector Poisson and Gaussian channels when the sensing time resource is limited and the source signals can be observed through a variety of sum combinations during that fixed time. For this purpose, we can maximize the mutual information or the detection probability with respect to the time allocated to different sum combinations, for a given total fixed time. It is observed that for both Poisson and Gaussian channels; mutual information and Bayes risk with $0-1$ cost are not necessarily consistent with each other. Concavity of mutual information between input and output, for certain sensing schemes, in Poisson channel and Gaussian channel is shown to be concave w.r.t given times as linear time constraint is imposed. No optimal sensing scheme for any of the two channels is investigated in this work.

Sensing Method for Two-Target Detection in Time-Constrained Vector Gaussian Channel

This paper considers a vector Gaussian channel of fixed identity covariance matrix and binary input signalling as the mean of it. A linear transformation is performed on the vector input signal. The objective is to find the optimal scaling matrix, under the total time constraint, that would: i) maximize the mutual information between the input and output random vectors, ii) maximize the MAP detection. It was found that the two metrics lead to different optimal solutions for our experimental design problem. We have used the Monte Carlo method for our computational work.

Sensing Method for Two-Target Detection in Time-Constrained Vector Poisson Channel

It is an experimental design problem in which there are two Poisson sources with two possible and known rates, and one counter. Through a switch, the counter can observe the sources individually or the counts can be combined so that the counter observes the sum of the two. The sensor scheduling problem is to determine an optimal proportion of the available time to be allocated toward individual and joint sensing, under a total time constraint. Two different metrics are used for optimization: mutual information between the sources and the observed counts, and probability of detection for the associated source detection problem. Our results, which are primarily computational, indicate similar but not identical results under the two cost functions.

User Behavior Assessment Towards Biometric Facial Recognition System: A SEM-Neural Network Approach

A smart home is grounded on the sensors that endure automation, safety, and structural integration. The security mechanism in digital setup possesses vibrant prominence and the biometric facial recognition system is novel addition to accrue the smart home features. Understanding the implementation of such technology is the outcome of user behavior modeling. However, there is the paucity of empirical research that explains the role of cognitive, functional, and social aspects of end-users acceptance behavior towards biometric facial recognition systems at homes. Therefore, a causal research survey was conducted to comprehend the behavioral intention towards the use of a biometric facial recognition system. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)was implied with Perceived System Quality (PSQ) and Social Influence (SI)to hypothesize the conceptual framework. Data was collected from 475respondents through online questionnaires. Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) were employed to analyze the surveyed data. The results showed that all the variables of the proposed framework significantly affected the behavioral intention to use the system. The PSQ appeared as the noteworthy predictor towards biometric facial recognition system usability through regression and sensitivity analyses. A multi-analytical approach towards understanding the technology user behavior will support the efficient decision-making process in Human-centric computing.

Clustering based Privacy Preserving of Big Data using Fuzzification and Anonymization Operation

Big Data is used by data miner for analysis purpose which may contain sensitive information. During the procedures it raises certain privacy challenges for researchers. The existing privacy preserving methods use different algorithms that results into limitation of data reconstruction while securing the sensitive data. This paper presents a clustering based privacy preservation probabilistic model of big data to secure sensitive information..model to attain minimum perturbation and maximum privacy. In our model, sensitive information is secured after identifying the sensitive data from data clusters to modify or generalize it.The resulting dataset is analysed to calculate the accuracy level of our model in terms of hidden data, lossed data as result of reconstruction. Extensive experiements are carried out in order to demonstrate the results of our proposed model. Clustering based Privacy preservation of individual data in big data with minimum perturbation and successful reconstruction highlights the significance of our model in addition to the use of standard performance evaluation measures.

Towards French Smart Building Code: Compliance Checking Based on Semantic Rules

Manually checking models for compliance against building regulation is a time-consuming task for architects and construction engineers. There is thus a need for algorithms that process information from construction projects and report non-compliant elements. Still automated code-compliance checking raises several obstacles. Building regulations are usually published as human readable texts and their content is often ambiguous or incomplete. Also, the vocabulary used for expressing such regulations is very different from the vocabularies used to express Building Information Models (BIM). Furthermore, the high level of details associated to BIM-contained geometries induces complex calculations. Finally, the level of complexity of the IFC standard also hinders the automation of IFC processing tasks. Model chart, formal rules and pre-processors approach allows translating construction regulations into semantic queries. We further demonstrate the usefulness of this approach through several use cases. We argue our approach is a step forward in bridging the gap between regulation texts and automated checking algorithms. Finally with the recent building ontology BOT recommended by the W3C Linked Building Data Community Group, we identify perspectives for standardizing and extending our approach.

Bi-objective Optimisation of Data-parallel Applications on Heterogeneous Platforms for Performance and Energy via Workload Distribution

Performance and energy are the two most important objectives for optimisation on modern parallel platforms. Latest research demonstrated the importance of workload distribution as a decision variable in the bi-objective optimisation for performance and energy on homogeneous multicore clusters. We show in this work that bi-objective optimisation for performance and energy on heterogeneous processors results in a large number of Pareto-optimal optimal solutions (workload distributions) even in the simple case of linear performance and energy profiles. We then study performance and energy profiles of real-life data-parallel applications and find that their shapes are non-linear, complex and non-smooth. We, therefore, propose an efficient and exact global optimisation algorithm, which takes as an input most general discrete performance and dynamic energy profiles of the heterogeneous processors and solves the bi-objective optimisation problem. The algorithm is also used as a building block to solve the bi-objective optimisation problem for performance and total energy. We also propose a novel methodology to build discrete dynamic energy profiles of individual computing devices, which are input to the algorithm. The methodology is based purely on system-level measurements and addresses the fundamental challenge of accurate component-level energy modelling of a hybrid data-parallel application running on a heterogeneous platform integrating CPUs and accelerators. We experimentally validate the proposed method using two data-parallel applications, matrix multiplication and 2D fast Fourier transform (2D-FFT).

Energy of Computing on Multicore CPUs: Predictive Models and Energy Conservation Law

Energy is now a first-class design constraint along with performance in all computing settings. Energy predictive modelling based on performance monitoring counts (PMCs) is the leading method used for prediction of energy consumption during an application execution. We use a model-theoretic approach to formulate the assumed properties of existing models in a mathematical form. We extend the formalism by adding properties, heretofore unconsidered, that account for a limited form of energy conservation law. The extended formalism defines our theory of energy of computing. By applying the basic practical implications of the theory, we improve the prediction accuracy of state-of-the-art energy models from 31% to 18%. We also demonstrate that use of state-of-the-art measurement tools for energy optimisation may lead to significant losses of energy (ranging from 56% to 65% for applications used in experiments) since they do not take into account the energy conservation properties.

Ocean Plume Tracking with Unmanned Surface Vessels: Algorithms and Experiments

Pollution plume monitoring using autonomous vehicles is important due to the adverse effect of pollution plumes on the environment and associated monetary losses. Using the advection-diffusion plume dispersion model, we present a control law design to track dynamic concentration level curves. We also present a gradient and divergence estimation method to enable this control law from concentration measurement only. We then present the field testing results of the control law to track concentration level curves in a plume generated using Rhodamine dye as a pollution surrogate in a near-shore marine environment. These plumes are then autonomously tracked using an unmanned surface vessel equipped with fluorometer sensors. Field experimental results are shown to evaluate the performance of the controller, and complexities of field experiments in real-world marine environments are discussed in the paper.

Semantic integration of UML class diagram with semantic validation on segments of mappings

Recently, attention has focused on the software development, specially by differ-ent teams that are geographically distant to support collaborative work. Manage-ment, description and modeling in such collaborative approach are through sever-al tools and techniques based on UML models. It is now supported by a large number of tools. Most of these systems have the ability to compare different UML models, assist developers, designers and also provide operations for the merging and integration, to produce a coherent model. The contribution in this ar-ticle is both to integrate a set of UML class diagrams using mappings that are re-sult of alignment and assist designers and developers in the integration. In addi-tion, we will present a detail integration of UML models with the validation of mappings between them. Such validation helps to achieve correct, consistent and coherent integrated model.

BPCMont: Business Process Change Management Ontology

Change management for evolving collaborative business process development is crucial when the business logic, transections and workflow change due to changes in business strategies or organizational and technical environment. During the change implementation, business processes are analyzed and improved ensuring that they capture the proposed change and they do not contain any undesired functionalities or change side-effects. This paper presents Business Process Change Management approach for the efficient and effective implementation of change in the business process. The key technology behind our approach is our proposed Business Process Change Management Ontology (BPCMont) which is the main contribution of this paper. BPCMont, as a formalized change specification, helps to revert BP into a consistent state in case of system crash, intermediate conflicting stage or unauthorized change done, aid in change traceability in the new and old versions of business processes, change effects can be seen and estimated effectively, ease for Stakeholders to validate and verify change implementation, etc.

DKP-AOM: results for OAEI 2015

In this paper, we present the results obtained by our DKP-AOM system within the OAEI 2015 campaign. DKP-AOM is an ontology merging tool designed to merge heterogeneous ontologies. In OAEI, we have participated with its ontology mapping component which serves as a basic module capable of matching large scale ontologies before their merging. This is our first successful participation in the Conference, OA4QA and Anatomy track of OAEI. DKP-AOM is participating with two versions (DKP-AOM and DKP-AOM_lite), DKP-AOM performs coherence analysis. In OA4QA track, DKPAOM out-performed in the evaluation and generated accurate alignments allowed to answer all the queries of the evaluation. We can also see its competitive results for the conference track in the evaluation initiative among other reputed systems. In the anatomy track, it has produced alignments within an allocated time and appeared in the list of systems which produce coherent results. Finally, we discuss some future work towards the development of DKP-AOM.
