Investigating ferromagnetic response in monolayer CVD grown MoS$_{2}$ flakes using quantum weak measurement

We synthesize MoS$_{2}$ atomic layer flakes at different growth conditions to tailor S-terminated and Mo-terminated edge defect states that are investigated for their ferromagnetic response. We leverage quantum weak measurement principles to construct a spin Hall effect of light-based magneto-optic Kerr effect (SHEL-MOKE) setup to sense the ultra-small magnetic response from the synthesized atomic layers. Our findings demonstrate that Mo-terminated edge states are the primary source of ferromagnetic response from MoS$_{2}$ flakes, which is consistent with X-ray photoelectron, Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopic results. In the process, we demonstrate SHEL-MOKE to be a robust technique to investigate ultra weak properties in novel atomic-scale materials.

On the Sombor index of graphs with given connectivity and number of bridges

Recently in 2021, Gutman introduced the Sombor index of a graph, a novel degree-based topological index. It has been shown that the Sombor index efficiently models the thermodynamic properties of chemical compounds. Assume $\mathbb{B}_n^k$ (resp. $\mathbb{V}_n^k$) comprises all graphs with order $n$ having number of bridges (resp. vertex-connectivity) $k$. Horoldagva & Xu (2021) characterized graphs achieving the maximum Sombor index of graphs in $\mathbb{B}_n^k$. This paper characterizes graphs achieving the minimum Sombor index in $\mathbb{B}_n^k$. Certain auxiliary operation on graphs in $\mathbb{B}_n^k$ are introduced and employed for the characterization. Moreover, we characterize graphs achieving maximum Sombor index in $\mathbb{V}_n^k$. ome open problems, which naturally arise from this work, have been proposed at the end.

Contactless Rheology of Soft Gels over a Broad Frequency Range

We report contactless measurements of the viscoelastic rheological properties of soft gels. The experiments are performed using a colloidal-probe Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) in a liquid environment and in dynamic mode. The mechanical response is measured as a function of the liquid gap thickness for different oscillation frequencies. Our measurements reveal an elastohydrodynamic (EHD) coupling between the flow induced by the probe oscillation and the viscoelastic deformation of the gels. The data are quantitatively described by a viscoelastic lubrication model. The frequency-dependent storage and loss moduli of the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) gels are extracted from fits of the data to the model and are in good agreement with the Chasset--Thirion law. Our results demonstrate that contactless colloidal-probe methods are powerful tools that can be used for probing soft interfaces finely over a wide range of frequencies.

Direct Measurement of the Elastohydrodynamic Lift Force at the Nanoscale

We present the first direct measurement of the elastohydrodynamic lift force acting on a sphere moving within a viscous liquid, near and along a soft substrate under nanometric confinement. Using atomic force microscopy, the lift force is probed as a function of the gap size, for various driving velocities, viscosities, and stiffnesses. The force increases as the gap is reduced and shows a saturation at small gap. The results are in excellent agreement with scaling arguments and a quantitative model developed from the soft lubrication theory, in linear elasticity, and for small compliances. For larger compliances, or equivalently for smaller confinement length scales, an empirical scaling law for the observed saturation of the lift force is given and discussed.

Fixed Point Approximation of Suzuki Generalized Nonexpansive Mappings via New Faster Iteration Process

In this paper we propose a new iteration process, called the K iteration process, for approximation of fixed points. We show that our iteration process is faster than the existing leading iteration processes like Picard-S iteration process, Thakur New iteration process and Vatan Twostep iteration process for contraction mappings. We support our analytic proof by a numerical example. Stability of K iteration process and data dependence result for contraction mappings by employing K iteration process is also discussed. Finally we prove some weak and strong convergence theorems for the Suzuki generalized nonexpansive mappings in the setting of uniformly convex Banach space. Our results are extension, improvement and generalization of many known results in the literature of fixed point theory.

A new extension of Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta function

The main objective of this paper is to introduce a new extension of Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta function in terms of extended beta function. We then investigate its important properties such as integral representations, differential formulas, Mellin transform and certain generating relations. Also, some important special cases of the main results are pointed out.
