Resource-aware Probability-based Collaborative Odor Source Localization Using Multiple UAVs

Benefitting from UAVs' characteristics of flexible deployment and controllable movement in 3D space, odor source localization with multiple UAVs has been a hot research area in recent years. Considering the limited resources and insufficient battery capacities of UAVs, it is necessary to fast locate the odor source with low-complexity computation and minimal interaction under complicated environmental states. To this end, we propose a multi-UAV collaboration based odor source localization (\textit{MUC-OSL}) method, where source estimation and UAV navigation are iteratively performed, aiming to accelerate the searching process and reduce the resource consumption of UAVs. Specifically, in the source estimation phase, we present a collaborative particle filter algorithm on the basis of UAVs' cognitive difference and Gaussian fitting to improve source estimation accuracy. In the following navigation phase, an adaptive path planning algorithm is designed based on Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (POMDP) to distributedly determine the subsequent flying direction and moving steps of each UAV. The results of experiments conducted on two simulation platforms demonstrate that \textit{MUC-OSL} outperforms existing efforts in terms of mean search time and success rate, and effectively reduces the resource consumption of UAVs.

Online Spatio-Temporal Correlation-Based Federated Learning for Traffic Flow Forecasting

Traffic flow forecasting (TFF) is of great importance to the construction of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). To mitigate communication burden and tackle with the problem of privacy leakage aroused by centralized forecasting methods, Federated Learning (FL) has been applied to TFF. However, existing FL-based approaches employ batch learning manner, which makes the pre-trained models inapplicable to subsequent traffic data, thus exhibiting subpar prediction performance. In this paper, we perform the first study of forecasting traffic flow adopting Online Learning (OL) manner in FL framework and then propose a novel prediction method named Online Spatio-Temporal Correlation-based Federated Learning (FedOSTC), aiming to guarantee performance gains regardless of traffic fluctuation. Specifically, clients employ Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU)-based encoders to obtain the internal temporal patterns inside traffic data sequences. Then, the central server evaluates spatial correlation among clients via Graph Attention Network (GAT), catering to the dynamic changes of spatial closeness caused by traffic fluctuation. Furthermore, to improve the generalization of the global model for upcoming traffic data, a period-aware aggregation mechanism is proposed to aggregate the local models which are optimized using Online Gradient Descent (OGD) algorithm at clients. We perform comprehensive experiments on two real-world datasets to validate the efficiency and effectiveness of our proposed method and the numerical results demonstrate the superiority of FedOSTC.

Multiple solutions for a fractional Choquard problem with slightly subcritical exponents on bounded domains

This paper is devoted to study a fractional Choquard problem with slightly subcritical exponents on bounded domains. When the exponent of the convolution type nonlinearity tends to the fractional critical one in the sense of Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, we obtain the existence of multiple positive solutions via Lusternik-Schnirelmann category and nonlocal global compactness. Moreover, we prove that the topology of the domain furnishes a lower bound for the number of positive solutions.

Surface-termination-dependent electronic states in kagome superconductors AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, Cs) studied by micro-ARPES

Recently discovered kagome superconductors AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, Cs) exhibit exotic bulk and surface physical properties such as charge-density wave (CDW) and chirality, whereas their origins remain unresolved. By using micro-focused angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we discovered that AV3Sb5 commonly exhibits two distinct polar surfaces depending on the termination; electron- and hole-doped ones for the A- and Sb-termination, respectively. We observed that the kagome-derived band shows a clear splitting in the A-terminated surface while it is absent in the Sb-terminated counterpart, indicative of the polarity-dependent CDW at the surface. Close comparison of the band-dependent splitting reveals that the three-dimensional CDW structure of the K-terminated surface is different from that of the Rb- or Cs-terminated surface, suggesting the diversity of the CDW ground state. These results provide important insight into the origin of CDW in kagome superconductors AV3Sb5.

A Personalized Utterance Style (PUS) based Dialogue Strategy for Efficient Service Requirement Elicitation

With the flourish of services on the Internet, a prerequisite for service providers to precisely deliver services to their customers is to capture user requirements comprehensively, accurately, and efficiently. This is called the ``Service Requirement Elicitation (SRE)'' task. Considering the amount of customers is huge, it is an inefficient way for service providers to interact with each user by face-to-face dialog. Therefore, to elicit user requirements with the assistance of virtual intelligent assistants has become a mainstream way. Since user requirements generally consist of different levels of details and need to be satisfied by services from multiple domains, there is a huge potential requirement space for SRE to explore to elicit complete requirements. Considering that traditional dialogue system with static slots cannot be directly applied to the SRE task, it is a challenge to design an efficient dialogue strategy to guide users to express their complete and accurate requirements in such a huge potential requirement space. Based on the phenomenon that users tend to express requirements subjectively in a sequential manner, we propose a Personalized Utterance Style (PUS) module to perceive the personalized requirement expression habits, and then apply PUS to an dialogue strategy to efficiently complete the SRE task. Specifically, the dialogue strategy chooses suitable response actions for dynamically updating the dialogue state. With the assistance of PUS extracted from dialogue history, the system can shrink the search scope of potential requirement space. Experiment results show that the dialogue strategy with PUS can elicit more accurate user requirements with fewer dialogue rounds.

Imbalanced Node Processing Method in Graph Neural Network Classification Task

In recent years, the node classification task in graph neural networks(GNNs) has developed rapidly, driving the development of research in various fields. However, there are a large number of class imbalances in the graph data, and there is a large gap between the number of different classes, resulting in suboptimal results in classification. Proposing a solution to the imbalance problem has become indispensable for the successful advancement of our downstream missions. Therefore, we start with the loss function and try to find a loss function that can effectively solve the imbalance of graph nodes to participate in the node classification task. thence, we introduce GHMC Loss into the graph neural networks to deal with difficult samples that are not marginal. Attenuate the loss contribution of marginal samples and simple samples. Experiments on multiple benchmarks show that our method can effectively deal with the class imbalance problem, and our method improves the accuracy by 3% compared to the traditional loss function.

The SpeakIn Speaker Verification System for Far-Field Speaker Verification Challenge 2022

This paper describes speaker verification (SV) systems submitted by the SpeakIn team to the Task 1 and Task 2 of the Far-Field Speaker Verification Challenge 2022 (FFSVC2022). SV tasks of the challenge focus on the problem of fully supervised far-field speaker verification (Task 1) and semi-supervised far-field speaker verification (Task 2). In Task 1, we used the VoxCeleb and FFSVC2020 datasets as train datasets. And for Task 2, we only used the VoxCeleb dataset as train set. The ResNet-based and RepVGG-based architectures were developed for this challenge. Global statistic pooling structure and MQMHA pooling structure were used to aggregate the frame-level features across time to obtain utterance-level representation. We adopted AM-Softmax and AAM-Softmax to classify the resulting embeddings. We innovatively propose a staged transfer learning method. In the pre-training stage we reserve the speaker weights, and there are no positive samples to train them in this stage. Then we fine-tune these weights with both positive and negative samples in the second stage. Compared with the traditional transfer learning strategy, this strategy can better improve the model performance. The Sub-Mean and AS-Norm backend methods were used to solve the problem of domain mismatch. In the fusion stage, three models were fused in Task1 and two models were fused in Task2. On the FFSVC2022 leaderboard, the EER of our submission is 3.0049% and the corresponding minDCF is 0.2938 in Task1. In Task2, EER and minDCF are 6.2060% and 0.5232 respectively. Our approach leads to excellent performance and ranks 1st in both challenge tasks.

The SpeakIn System Description for CNSRC2022

This report describes our speaker verification systems for the tasks of the CN-Celeb Speaker Recognition Challenge 2022 (CNSRC 2022). This challenge includes two tasks, namely speaker verification(SV) and speaker retrieval(SR). The SV task involves two tracks: fixed track and open track. In the fixed track, we only used CN-Celeb.T as the training set. For the open track of the SV task and SR task, we added our open-source audio data. The ResNet-based, RepVGG-based, and TDNN-based architectures were developed for this challenge. Global statistic pooling structure and MQMHA pooling structure were used to aggregate the frame-level features across time to obtain utterance-level representation. We adopted AM-Softmax and AAM-Softmax combined with the Sub-Center method to classify the resulting embeddings. We also used the Large-Margin Fine-Tuning strategy to further improve the model performance. In the backend, Sub-Mean and AS-Norm were used. In the SV task fixed track, our system was a fusion of five models, and two models were fused in the SV task open track. And we used a single system in the SR task. Our approach leads to superior performance and comes the 1st place in the open track of the SV task, the 2nd place in the fixed track of the SV task, and the 3rd place in the SR task.

Towards Federated Learning against Noisy Labels via Local Self-Regularization

Federated learning (FL) aims to learn joint knowledge from a large scale of decentralized devices with labeled data in a privacy-preserving manner. However, since high-quality labeled data require expensive human intelligence and efforts, data with incorrect labels (called noisy labels) are ubiquitous in reality, which inevitably cause performance degradation. Although a lot of methods are proposed to directly deal with noisy labels, these methods either require excessive computation overhead or violate the privacy protection principle of FL. To this end, we focus on this issue in FL with the purpose of alleviating performance degradation yielded by noisy labels meanwhile guaranteeing data privacy. Specifically, we propose a Local Self-Regularization method, which effectively regularizes the local training process via implicitly hindering the model from memorizing noisy labels and explicitly narrowing the model output discrepancy between original and augmented instances using self distillation. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method can achieve notable resistance against noisy labels in various noise levels on three benchmark datasets. In addition, we integrate our method with existing state-of-the-arts and achieve superior performance on the real-world dataset Clothing1M. Investigation of variable temperature Mössbauer spectrum of YFe$_{0.5}$Cr$_{0.5}$O$_3$ perovskite

In this paper, we reported the preparation of YFe$_{0.5}$Cr$_{0.5}$O$_3$ by the sol-gel method and studied its structure and Mössbauer spectrum at variable temperatures. X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis exhibits that the sample has the orthorhombic structure with the Pnma space group, and the energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis shows that the sample has Fe/Cr = 1:1, indicating that the sample is Fe half-doped YCrO$_3$. The hyperfine parameters of the Mössbauer spectrum at room temperature confirm that the characteristics of 57Fe in the sample were trivalent hexacoordinated high-spin(s=5/2), and the coexistence of doublet and the sextets at 250K indicate that the sample has superparamagnetic relaxation. The Mössbauer spectrum records the magnetic phase transition in the temperature range of 250K-300K.

FastATDC: Fast Anomalous Trajectory Detection and Classification

Automated detection of anomalous trajectories is an important problem with considerable applications in intelligent transportation systems. Many existing studies have focused on distinguishing anomalous trajectories from normal trajectories, ignoring the large differences between anomalous trajectories. A recent study has made great progress in identifying abnormal trajectory patterns and proposed a two-stage algorithm for anomalous trajectory detection and classification (ATDC). This algorithm has excellent performance but suffers from a few limitations, such as high time complexity and poor interpretation. Here, we present a careful theoretical and empirical analysis of the ATDC algorithm, showing that the calculation of anomaly scores in both stages can be simplified, and that the second stage of the algorithm is much more important than the first stage. Hence, we develop a FastATDC algorithm that introduces a random sampling strategy in both stages. Experimental results show that FastATDC is 10 to 20 times faster than ATDC on real datasets. Moreover, FastATDC outperforms the baseline algorithms and is comparable to the ATDC algorithm.

HoVer-Trans: Anatomy-aware HoVer-Transformer for ROI-free Breast Cancer Diagnosis in Ultrasound Images

Ultrasonography is an important routine examination for breast cancer diagnosis, due to its non-invasive, radiation-free and low-cost properties. However, the diagnostic accuracy of breast cancer is still limited due to its inherent limitations. It would be a tremendous success if we can precisely diagnose breast cancer by breast ultrasound images (BUS). Many learning-based computer-aided diagnostic methods have been proposed to achieve breast cancer diagnosis/lesion classification. However, most of them require a pre-define ROI and then classify the lesion inside the ROI. Conventional classification backbones, such as VGG16 and ResNet50, can achieve promising classification results with no ROI requirement. But these models lack interpretability, thus restricting their use in clinical practice. In this study, we propose a novel ROI-free model for breast cancer diagnosis in ultrasound images with interpretable feature representations. We leverage the anatomical prior knowledge that malignant and benign tumors have different spatial relationships between different tissue layers, and propose a HoVer-Transformer to formulate this prior knowledge. The proposed HoVer-Trans block extracts the inter- and intra-layer spatial information horizontally and vertically. We conduct and release an open dataset GDPH&SYSUCC for breast cancer diagnosis in BUS. The proposed model is evaluated in three datasets by comparing with four CNN-based models and two vision transformer models via five-fold cross validation. It achieves state-of-the-art classification performance with the best model interpretability. In the meanwhile, our proposed model outperforms two senior sonographers on the breast cancer diagnosis when only one BUS image is given.

Unraveling the nature of thermally induced spin reorientation in NdFe1-xCrxO3

Understanding spin control mechanisms is an important part of condensed matter physics and the theoretical basis for designing spintronic devices. In this letter, based on four-sublattices molecular field theory, we propose that the underlying NdFe1-xCrxO3 magnetic mechanism is driven by spin reorientation sensitive to temperature. The actual coupling angular momentum, angle between the Nd3+ and Cr3+/Fe3+ moments at the given temperature is realized via the Nd3+ magnetic moment projection onto the Cr3+/Fe3+ plane. As the temperature increases, the angle between the moment of Nd3+ and the moment of Cr3+/Fe3+ decreases monotonically. In this work, the magnetic mechanism of NdFe1-xCrxO3 (x=0.1, 0.9), the close relationship between A/B angle and temperature are presented, which laid a theoretical foundation for the design of new multifunctional magnetic materials.

Special spin behavior of rare earth ions at the A site of polycrystalline ErFe1-xCrxO3 (x = 0.1, 0.9)

Thermally induced spin control is one of the main directions for future spin devices. In this study, we synthesized single-phase polycrystalline ErFe1-xCrxO3 and combined the magnetization curves and Mössbauer spectra to determine the macroscopic magnetism at room temperature. The magnetization of the system at various temperatures is well simulated by molecular field theory. And it is found that under the DM interaction, not only the B-site ions undergo a reorientation process, but the spins of the A-site ions also change at the same time. The effective spin is defined as the projection of Er3+ on the Fe3+/Cr3+ spin plane, and the whole reorientation process is obtained by fitting. This study will complement the actual process of ErFe1-xCrxO3 spin reorientation and will lay a theoretical foundation for the fabrication of future spin-controlled devices.

Ultrafast spin control plays a pivotal role in condensed matter physics. In this study, we analyzed the macroscopic magnetization of the PrFe0.1Cr0.9O3 system by molecular field model fitting. And the whole process of system spin reorientation is accurately calculated in the fitting process. It is found that, unlike the rare-earth perovskites we have previously studied, PrFe0.1Cr0.9O3 exhibits spin-reversion properties during the reorientation process. This research will lay a theoretical foundation for precise spin control in the future.

Unraveling Thermally Induced Spin reorientation of Strongly Disordered NdFe0.5Cr0.5O3 System

Sophisticated spin instruments require high-precision spin control. In this study, we accurately study the intrinsic magnetic properties of the strongly disordered system NdFe0.5Cr0.5O3 through molecular field models combined with ASD theory. The three constituent sub-magnetic phases of the system are separated, and their magnetization contributions are calculated separately. Fitting the angle of the A/B magnetic moment at a given temperature, the reorientation temperature point and temperature dependence of different magnetic phases are obtained. This research will provide a very good theoretical support for studying complex disordered systems and applying high-precision spin control and lay a foundation for the design of new functional materials.

Driving Potential and Fission-Fragment Charge Distributions

We propose an efficient approach to describe the fission-fragment charge yields for actinides based on the driving potential of fissioning system. Considering the properties of primary fission fragments at their ground states, the driving potential, which represents the potential energies of the system around scission configuration and closely relates to the yields of fragments, can be unambiguously and quickly obtained from the Skyrme energy-density functional together with the Weizsaecker-Skyrme mass model. The fission-fragment charge distributions for thermal-neutroninduced fission and spontaneous fission of a series of actinides, especially the odd-even staggering in charge distributions can be well reproduced. Nuclear dynamical deformations and pairing corrections of fragments play an important role in the charge distributions.
