Radiative decays and the $\mathbf {SU(6)}$ Lie Algebra

We present research on radiative decays of vector ($J^{PC}=1^{--}$) to pseudoscalar ($J^{PC}=0^{-+}$) particles ($u$, $d$, $s$, $c$, $b$, $t$ quark system) using broken symmetry techniques in the infinite momentum frame and equal time commutation relations and the $SU(6)$ Lie algebra and conducted without ascribing any specific form to meson quark structure or intra-quark interactions. We utilize the physical electromagnetic current $j_{em}^μ(0)$ including its singlet $U(1)$ term and focus on the $SU(6)$ $35$-plet. We derive new relations involving the electromagnetic current (including its singlet--proportional to the $SU(6)$ singlet). Remarkably, we find that the electromagnetic current singlet plays an intrinsic role in understanding the physics of radiative decays and that the charged and neutral $ρ$ meson radiative decays into $π\, γ$ are due entirely to the singlet term in $j_{em}^μ(0)$. Although there is insufficient radiative decay experimental data available at this time, parametrization of possible predicted values of $Γ({{D}^{*}}^{0}\rightarrow D^{0}\,γ)$ is made. For conciseness and self-containment, we compute all $SU(6)$ Lie algebra simple roots, positive roots, weights and fundamental weights which allow the construction of all $SU(6)$ representations. We also derive all non-zero $SU(6)$ generator commutators and anti-commutators---useful for further research on grand unified theories.

$Ω^-$, $Ξ^{*-}$, $Σ^{*-}}$ and $Δ^-}$ decuplet baryon electric charge form factor $F_1(q^2)$

The magnetic moment---a function of the electric charge form factor $F_{1}(q^{2})$ and the magnetic dipole form factor $F_{2}(q^{2})$ at zero four-momentum transfer $q^{2}$---of the ground-state $U$-spin =3/2 baryon decuplet $Δ^{-}$, $Ξ^{*\,-}$, $Σ^{*\,-}$ and $Ω^{-}$ and their ground-state spin 1/2 cousins $p$, $n$, $Λ$, $Σ^{+}$, $Σ^{0}$, $Σ^{-}$, $Ξ^{+}$, and $Ξ^{-}$ have been studied for many years with a modicum of success---only the magnetic moment of the $Ω^{-}$ has been accurately determined. In a recent study by us utilizing the infinite momentum frame, we calculated the magnetic moments of the \emph{physical} decuplet $U$-Spin =3/2 quartet members in terms of that of the $Ω^{-}$ without ascribing any specific form to their quark structure or intra-quark interactions. That study determined $F_{2}(q^{2})$ and was conducted nonperturbatively where the decuplet baryon momenta were all collinear. In this follow-up research---again utilizing the infinite momentum frame but now allowing for non-collinear momenta---we are able to determine $F_{1}(q^{2})$ where $q^{2}\leq 0$. We relate the electric charge form factor $F_{1}(q^{2})$ of the \emph{physical} decuplet $S\neq -3$, $U$-spin =3/2 quartet members to that of the $Ω^{-}$ ($S=-3$).

Magnetic moments of the ground-state $\mathbf{J^P=(3/2)}^{+}$ baryon decuplet

The magnetic moment - a function of the electric charge form factor $F_{1}(q^{2})$ and the magnetic dipole form factor $F_{2}(q^{2})$ at zero four-momentum transfer $q^{2}$-of the ground-state $J^{P}=(3/2)^{+}$ baryon decuplet magnetic moments have been studied for many years with limited success. At present, only the magnetic moment of the $Ω^{-}$ has been accurately determined. We calculate nonperturbatively the magnetic moments of the \emph{physical baryon decuplet $J^{P}=(3/2)^{+}$} members and in particular, we obtain $μ_{Δ^{++}}= (+3.67 \pm 0.07) μ_{N}$, $μ_{Δ^{+}}= (+1.83 \pm 0.04) μ_{N}$, $μ_{Δ^{0}}= (0) μ_{N}$, and the magnetic moments of their $U$-Spin partners in terms of $Ω^{-}$ magnetic moment data.

$Ω^{-}$, $Ξ^{* -}$, $Σ^{* -}$ and $Δ^{-}$ decuplet baryon magnetic moments

The properties of the ground state $U$-Spin $={3/2}$ baryon decuplet magnetic moments $Δ^{-}$, $Ξ^{* -}$, $Σ^{* -}$ and $Ω^{-}$ and their ground state spin 1/2 cousins $p$, $n$, $Λ$, $Σ^{+}$, $Σ^{0}$, $Σ^{-}$, $Ξ^{+}$, and $Ξ^{-}$ have been studied for many years with a modicum of success. The magnetic moments of many are yet to be determined. Of the decuplet baryons, only the magnetic moment of the $Ω^{-}$ has been accurately determined. We calculate the magnetic moments of the \emph{physical} decuplet $U$-Spin $={3/2}$ quartet members without ascribing any specific form to their quark structure or intra-quark interactions.

Gamma N Delta Form Factors and Wigner Rotations

For more than 50 years the Delta N gamma form factors have been studied experimentally, theoretically, and phenomenologically. Although there has been substantial progress in understanding their behavior, there remains much work to be done. A major tool used in many investigations is the Jones-Scadron Delta rest frame parametrization of the three Delta N gamma form factors. We point out that many studies utilizing this parametrization may not account for Wigner rotations and the consequent helicity mixing that ensues when the Delta is not at rest.

Connection between Second Class Currents and the $ΔNγ$ Form Factors $G_M^*(q^2)$ and $G_E^*(q^2)$

An interesting connection between the nucleon weak axial-vector second class current form factor $g_{T}(q^{2})$ present in the matrix element $< {p} | A_{π^{+}}^μ| {n} >$ and the $ΔNγ$ form factors $G_{M}^{\ast}(q^{2})$ and $G_{E}^{\ast}(q^{2})$ is derived. Using a nonperturbative, relativistic sum rule approach in the infinite momentum frame, $G_{M}^{\ast}(q^{2})$ and $G_{E}^{\ast}(q^{2})$ are calculated in terms of $g_{T}(q^{2})$ and the well-known nucleon isovector Sachs form factor $G_{M}^{V}$ as input with no additional model parameters. Reasonable agreement with the data for $G_{M}^{\ast}(q^{2})$ may be achieved with a non-zero $g_{T}(q^{2})$ too large to be accommodated in the Standard Model. We surmise that it is plausible that second class current-associated pion cloud effects are playing a significant role in pion electroproduction processes and perhaps must be taken into account in those methodologies which utilize effective Lagrangians.

Theoretical Determination of the $ΔNγ$ Electromagnetic Transition Amplitudes in the $Δ(1232)$ Region

We utilize non-perturbative and fully relativistic methods to calculate the\thinspace \thinspace $ΔNγ$ electromagnetic transition amplitudes $G_{M}^{*}(q^{2})$ (related to the magnetic dipole moment $% M_{1^{+}}^{3/2}(q^{2})$), $G_{E}^{*}(q^{2})$ (related to the electric quadrupole moment $E_{1^{+}}^{3/2}(q^{2})$), the electromagnetic ratio $% R_{EM}(q^{2})\equiv -G_{E}^{*}(q^{2})/G_{M}^{*}(q^{2})=E_{1^{+}}^{3/2}(q^{2})/M_{1^{+}}^{3/2}(q^{2} ) $, and discuss their $q^{2}$ behavior in the $Δ(1232)$ mass region. These are very important quantities which arise in all viable quark, QCD, or perturbative QCD models of pion electroproduction and photoproduction.

The $N-Δ$ Weak Axial-Vector Amplitude $C_{5}^a(0)$

The weak $N-Δ$ axial-vector transition amplitude $<Δ| A_{π^{+}}^μ|N>$ - important in $N^{*}$ production processes in general and in isobar models describing $ν_μN\to μΔ$ processes in particular - is examined using a broken symmetry algebraic approach to QCD which involves the realization of chiral current algebras. We calculate a value for the form factor $C_{5}^{A}(0)$ in good agreement with experiment.
