Long-lived ringing of Bronnikov--Kim brane-world black holes and wormholes

Massive-field perturbations on black-hole and wormhole backgrounds can form long-lived quasinormal ringing; this behaviour is not confined to brane-world spacetimes, but it is also not universal across compact-object geometries. Recent work on a brane-world black hole reported an unusual limiting behaviour in which the real oscillation frequency tends to zero as the scalar mass grows. We test how general this phenomenon is in the Bronnikov--Kim effective brane-world geometries, treating both the black-hole and wormhole sides of the same families. The comparison uses two complementary numerical treatments: Leaver's continued-fraction method for the black-hole side, after reducing the wave equation for the second Bronnikov--Kim family to rational form, and Chebyshev pseudospectral collocation for regular wormhole throats. The black hole of the second Bronnikov--Kim family shows the standard quasi-resonant pattern: the damping rates of the scalar branches considered here become very small, but the real frequencies remain finite. Representative wormholes from the first and second Bronnikov--Kim families also develop increasingly long-lived massive scalar modes, and extending the second-family wormhole scan to larger field mass reduces the damping by more than a factor of four relative to the massless case. Thus the robust brane-world effect found here is the appearance of long-lived massive-field ringing in both black holes and wormholes, whereas the vanishing of the real frequency is metric- or branch-dependent.

Quasinormal modes and excitation factors of a regular black hole with zero-point length

We study the ringdown of the regular Jusufi-Singleton black hole, whose nonsingular core is controlled by a zero-point length arising from a non-local, T-duality-inspired gravitational model. Scalar, electromagnetic and Dirac perturbations are considered. The zero-point-length parameter raises the effective scattering barrier and produces a systematic increase of the oscillation frequencies, while also making the damping faster over most of the parameter range. High-order WKB results are checked against time-domain integration and show very good agreement for the dominant modes. We also compute excitation factors, which characterize the source-independent strength of the quasinormal-mode poles and show a smooth dependence on the new length scale.

Hawking Radiation from the Dymnikova Regular Black Hole

We study Hawking radiation of the Dymnikova regular black hole. This model replaces the central singularity by a smooth de Sitter core while remaining Schwarzschild-like far from the hole, and its black-hole branch ends in a cold extremal remnant. We compute the greybody factors of the Standard Model test fields and gravitons, compare the precise numerical scattering results with WKB estimates, and use the resulting spectra to estimate an adiabatic evaporation history. The main effect is not a dramatic change in the transmission probabilities: the greybody thresholds move only slightly as the geometry approaches the remnant. Instead, the rapid decrease of the Hawking temperature strongly suppresses the total luminosity. The photon, light-fermion and graviton channels all fade near the endpoint, with the gravitational contribution remaining subdominant. The residual massless flux becomes increasingly fermion dominated because the photon channel is suppressed more efficiently. The black hole approaches the cold remnant only asymptotically, so the quoted lifetime estimates should be interpreted as cutoff times to near-extremal configurations rather than as complete evaporation times.

Quasinormal Spectra of Fields of Various Spin in Asymptotically de Sitter Black Holes within Generalized Proca Theory

We study massless scalar, electromagnetic, and Dirac perturbations of asymptotically de Sitter black holes in generalized Proca theory. These geometries are especially interesting because the Proca sector generates both a primary-hair parameter and an effective cosmological term $\Lambda_{\rm eff}$, thereby reshaping the horizon structure and the size of the static patch. Working on this common hairy background, we derive the master equations for the three spin sectors and analyze their quasinormal spectra by means of Pad\'e-improved WKB calculations supplemented by characteristic time-domain integration. We show that the scalar sector, especially the $\ell=0$ mode, is the most sensitive to metric deformations; increasing the Proca-hair parameter $Q$ weakens the damping as the charged three-horizon regime is approached; $\beta$ hardens the spectrum in the $(\alpha,\beta)$ scan; and increasing $\lambda$ and $c_1$ produces the strongest overall softening. For the neutral scalar $\ell=1$ mode, the time-domain Prony extraction agrees excellently with the WKB results and resolves both the Schwarzschild-like black-hole branch and the de Sitter branch. We also discuss the implications of the exact empty-de Sitter limit for strong cosmic censorship and note that the resulting quasinormal frequencies provide useful input for grey-body factors.

Massive scalar quasinormal modes of an asymptotically flat regular black hole supported by a phantom Dirac--Born--Infeld field

We study the quasinormal spectrum of a massive test scalar field in the exact asymptotically flat regular black-hole geometry supported by a phantom Dirac--Born--Infeld scalar. Using high-order WKB approximation improved by Pad\'e resummation, together with characteristic time-domain integration and Prony extraction, we compute the fundamental mode and the first two overtones for representative values of the regularity parameter and the field mass. We show that increasing the field mass raises the oscillation frequency and reduces the damping rate, while increasing the regularity scale generally makes the ringing softer and longer lived. The time-domain profiles are in very good agreement with the WKB--Pad\'e results and confirm the robustness of the spectrum. For sufficiently large field mass, the damping tends to zero, indicating the onset of quasiresonant behavior, although in the time domain these modes are eventually masked by oscillatory late-time tails. Our results show that massive scalar ringing provides a sensitive probe of this DBI-supported regular geometry.

Long-lived quasinormal frequencies for regular black hole supported by the Einasto profile in the presence of the magnetic field

We investigate quasinormal modes, grey-body factors, and absorption cross-sections of a massive scalar field in regular black-hole spacetimes supported by the Einasto density profile. The analysis is performed for $\tilde n=1/2$, $1$, and $5$, where the scalar mass $\mu$ is treated as an effective parameter induced by an external environment. Quasinormal frequencies are computed with high-order WKB expansions and Pad\'e resummation, and are cross-checked by time-domain evolution. We show that increasing the effective mass and varying the Einasto parameters can strongly suppress the damping rate, leading to long-lived modes and clear quasi-resonant behavior. Grey-body factors obtained from direct WKB transmission and from the QNM-based correspondence agree well in the considered regimes, while their differences remain controlled. Using the transmission coefficients, we derive partial and total absorption cross-sections and demonstrate the expected transition from low-frequency suppression to efficient high-frequency absorption. Our results show that regularity of the core together with environmental parameters leaves a noticeable imprint on both ringdown and scattering observables. Within this setup, the magnetic field acts as the physical agent that controls the effective mass scale and therefore governs how close the system can approach the quasi-resonant regime.

Arbitrarily long-lived quasinormal modes of proper-time flow black holes

We investigate the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a massive scalar field in the background of a regular black hole arising from the proper-time flow in asymptotically safe gravity. This quantum-corrected geometry, characterized by a deformation parameter q, smoothly interpolates between a near-extremal regular black hole and the Schwarzschild solution. Employing both the WKB approximation with Pad\'e resummation and time-domain integration, we compute the complex frequencies for various values of the scalar field mass $\mu$, multipole number $\ell$, and deformation parameter q. We observe that the real parts of the QNMs increase with the field mass, while the imaginary parts exhibit behavior indicative of long-lived modes. Although quasi-resonances are not detected in the time-domain profiles due to the dominance of late-time tails, we find that the asymptotic decay follows an oscillatory slowly decaying behavior with the power-law envelope.

Gravitational quasinormal modes of the Hayward spacetime

We study gravitational quasinormal modes of the Hayward spacetime, a regular black-hole geometry that also admits an interpretation as an effective quantum-corrected solution within asymptotically safe gravity. Using both the higher-order WKB method supplemented with Pade approximants and time-domain integration with Prony analysis, we obtain accurate spectra for axial perturbations and explore the impact of the quantum parameter $\gamma$. We find that increasing $\gamma$ systematically raises the oscillation frequencies while reducing the damping rates, making the ringdown longer lived. For the first overtone, the effect of $\gamma$ is noticeably stronger than for the fundamental mode, providing an indication of the so-called outburst of overtones previously observed for test fields, and pointing to the particular sensitivity of subdominant modes to near-horizon quantum corrections. In addition, the analytic approximation for quasinormal modes are obtained in the form of expansion beyond the eikonal limit.

Gravitational Quasinormal Modes and Grey-Body Factors of Bonanno-Reuter Regular Black Holes

We study gravitational perturbations of the Bonanno--Reuter quantum-corrected black hole arising in the asymptotic safety scenario, focusing on QNMs and grey-body factors. Assuming the RG parameter $\tilde{\omega}$ is fixed to its phenomenologically motivated value, we treat the interpolation parameter $\gamma$ as free and investigate how it modifies the black hole's response to axial gravitational perturbations. Quasinormal frequencies are computed using the sixth-order WKB method with Pad\'e approximants, and their dependence on $\gamma$ and the black hole mass $M$ is analyzed. We find that the Schwarzschild limit is rapidly recovered for large $M$ or large $\gamma$, while significant deviations arise in the quantum regime. The accuracy of the WKB results is confirmed by time-domain integration of the wave equation. Comparison of grey-body factors computed via both the WKB method and the quasinormal mode correspondence are in a good concordance. Our findings indicate that quantum corrections can leave significant imprints in the ringdown and radiation spectra, while preserving consistency with classical results in the appropriate limit.

Review of analytic results on quasinormal modes of black holes

We present a concise review of known analytic results for quasinormal modes of black holes and related spacetimes. Our emphasis is on those regimes where the perturbation equations admit exact or perturbative solutions, providing insights complementary to numerical or semi-analytic approaches. We discuss solvable cases in lower-dimensional spacetimes, algebraically special modes, and exact results in higher-curvature gravity theories. Particular attention is given to the eikonal regime and its correspondence with null geodesics, as well as to beyond-eikonal approximations based on inverse multipole expansions in parametrized metrics. We review analytic solutions obtained in the near-extremal limit of Schwarzschild - de Sitter black holes, in the regime of large field mass, and in pure de Sitter and anti - de Sitter spacetimes, where boundary conditions play a crucial role. While not exhaustive, this overview highlights the diversity of techniques and physical insights made possible by analytic treatments of quasinormal spectra.

Long Lived Quasinormal Modes of Regular and Extreme Black Holes

Recently, black hole models in a nonlinear modification of the Maxwell electrodynamics were suggested, possessing simultaneously properties of an extreme charge and regularity (Bronnikov K. A., Phys. Rev. D, 110 (2024) 024021). We study quasinormal modes of a massive scalar field around such black holes and show that they are characterized by a comparatively small damping rate, indicating the possible existence of arbitrarily long-lived quasinormal modes, called quasi-resonances.

Quantum corrected black holes: testing the correspondence between grey-body factors and quasinormal modes

Grey-body factors and quasinormal modes are two distinct characteristics of radiation near black holes, each associated with different boundary conditions. Nevertheless, a correspondence exists between them, which we use to calculate the grey-body factors of three recently constructed quantum-corrected black hole models. Our findings demonstrate that the grey-body factors are significantly influenced by the quantum corrections for some of the models under consideration, and the correspondence holds with reasonable accuracy across all three models. We confirm that the grey-body factors are less sensitive to the near-horizon corrections of the spacetime, because the grey-body factors are reproduced via the correspondence using only the fundamental mode and the first overtone.

Ringing of the Extreme Regular Black Holes

We investigate quasinormal ringing in both time and frequency domains for scalar and neutrino perturbations around black hole solutions that simultaneously describe regular and extreme configurations within a non-linear electrodynamics framework. Two types of solutions are considered: those with de Sitter and Minkowski cores. The quasinormal frequencies obtained from two independent methods exhibit excellent agreement. Furthermore, we derive an analytical expression in the eikonal limit and discuss the validity of the correspondence between eikonal quasinormal modes and null geodesics.

Quasinormal Frequencies of Fields with Various Spin in the Quantum Oppenheimer-Snyder Model of Black Holes

A recent development involves an intriguing model of a quantum-corrected black hole, established through the application of the quantum Oppenheimer-Snyder model within loop quantum cosmology [Lewandowski et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 130 (2023) 10, 101501]. Employing both time-domain integration and the WKB approach, we compute the quasinormal frequencies for scalar, electromagnetic, and neutrino perturbations in these quantum-corrected black holes. Our analysis reveals that while the real oscillation frequencies undergo only minor adjustments due to the quantum parameter, the damping rate experiences a significant decrease as a result of its influence. We also deduce the analytic formula for quasinormal frequencies in the eikonal limit and show that the correspondence between the null geodesics and eikoanl quasinormal modes holds in this case.

Quasinormal spectrum of $(2+1)$-dimensional asymptotically flat, dS and AdS black holes

While $(2+1)$-dimensional black holes in the Einstein theory allow for only the anti-de Sitter asymptotic, when the higher curvature correction is tuned on, the asymptotically flat, de Sitter and anti-de Sitter cases are included. Here we propose first comprehensive study of the stability and quasinormal spectra of the scalar field perturbations around such black holes with all three asymptotics. Calculations of the frequencies are fulfilled with the help of the 6th order WKB method with Pade approximants, Bernstein polynomial method and time-domain integration. Results obtained by all three methods are in a very good agreement in their common range of applicability. When the multipole moment $k$ is equal to zero, the purely imaginary, i.e. non-oscillatory, modes dominate in the spectrum for all types of the asymptotic behavior, while the spectrum at higher $k$ resembles that in four-dimensional spacetime with the corresponding asymptotic.

A note on "Traversable wormholes in Einstein-Dirac-Maxwell theory"

In their Letter [Phys. Rev. Lett. 126, 101102 (2021); arXiv: 2010.07317], J.L. Bl\'azquez-Salcedo, C. Knoll and E. Radu have constructed a very interesting class of wormhole solutions in GR, supported by a pair of classical charged spinor fields obeying the Dirac equation. The main new feature of these solutions is that such Dirac spinor fields can possess exotic properties, necessary for the existence of static wormhole configurations in GR. The present note contains a few remarks clarifying some points concerning this approach.
