Adaptive Frequency Enhancement Network for Remote Sensing Image Semantic Segmentation

Semantic segmentation of high-resolution remote sensing images plays a crucial role in land-use monitoring and urban planning. Recent remarkable progress in deep learning-based methods makes it possible to generate satisfactory segmentation results. However, existing methods still face challenges in adapting network parameters to various land cover distributions and enhancing the interaction between spatial and frequency domain features. To address these challenges, we propose the Adaptive Frequency Enhancement Network (AFENet), which integrates two key components: the Adaptive Frequency and Spatial feature Interaction Module (AFSIM) and the Selective feature Fusion Module (SFM). AFSIM dynamically separates and modulates high- and low-frequency features according to the content of the input image. It adaptively generates two masks to separate high- and low-frequency components, therefore providing optimal details and contextual supplementary information for ground object feature representation. SFM selectively fuses global context and local detailed features to enhance the network's representation capability. Hence, the interactions between frequency and spatial features are further enhanced. Extensive experiments on three publicly available datasets demonstrate that the proposed AFENet outperforms state-of-the-art methods. In addition, we also validate the effectiveness of AFSIM and SFM in managing diverse land cover types and complex scenarios. Our codes are available at https://github.com/oucailab/AFENet.

LSKSANet: A Novel Architecture for Remote Sensing Image Semantic Segmentation Leveraging Large Selective Kernel and Sparse Attention Mechanism

In this paper, we proposed large selective kernel and sparse attention network (LSKSANet) for remote sensing image semantic segmentation. The LSKSANet is a lightweight network that effectively combines convolution with sparse attention mechanisms. Specifically, we design large selective kernel module to decomposing the large kernel into a series of depth-wise convolutions with progressively increasing dilation rates, thereby expanding the receptive field without significantly increasing the computational burden. In addition, we introduce the sparse attention to keep the most useful self-attention values for better feature aggregation. Experimental results on the Vaihingen and Postdam datasets demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed LSKSANet over state-of-the-art methods.

Lower Bound on Translative Covering Density of Octahedron

In this paper, we present the first nontrivial lower bound on the translative covering density of octahedron. To this end, we show the lower bound, in any translative covering of octahedron, on the density relative to a given parallelehedron. The resulting lower bound on the translative covering density of octahedron is $1+6.6\times10^{-8}$.

On Tomaszewski's Cube Vertices Problem

The following assertion was equivalent to a conjecture proposed by B. Tomaszewski : Let $C$ be an $n$-dimensional unit cube and let $H$ be a plank of thickness $1$, both are centered at the origin, then no matter how to turn the cube around, $C\cap H$ contains at least half of the cube's $2^n$ vertices. A lower bound for the number of the vertices of $C$ in $C\cap H$ was obtained.

On the existence of tripartite graphs and n-partite graphs

The degree sequence of a graph is the sequence of the degrees of its vertices. If $\pi$ is a degree sequence of a graph $G$, then $G$ is a realization of $\pi$ and $G$ realizes $\pi$. Determining when a sequence of positive integers is realizable as a degree sequence of a simple graph has received much attention. One of the early results, by Erd\"{o}s and Gallai, characterized degree sequences of graphs. The result was strengthened by Hakimi and Havel. Another generalization is derived by Cai et al. Hoogeveen and Sierksma listed seven criteria and gave a uniform proof. In addition, Gale and Ryser independently established a characterization by using network flows. We extend Gale and Ryser's results from bipartite graphs to tripartite graphs and even $n$-partite graphs. As corollaries, we give a necessary condition and a sufficient condition for the triple $(\sigma_1, \sigma_2, \sigma_3)$ to be realizable by a tripartite graph, where $\sigma_1$, $\sigma_2$ and $\sigma_3$ are all non-increasing sequences of nonnegative integers. We also give a stronger necessary condition for $(\sigma_1, \sigma_2, \sigma_3)$ to be realizable by a tripartite graph.

Some criteria for integer sequences pair being realizable by a graph

Let $A=(a_1,\ldots,a_n)$ and $B=(b_1,\ldots,b_n)$ be two sequences of nonnegative integers with $a_i \le b_i$ for $1\le i\le n$. The pair $(A;B)$ is said to be realizable by a graph if there exists a simple graph $G$ with vertices $v_1,\ldots, v_n$ such that $a_i\le d_G(v_i)\le b_i$ for $1\le i\le n$. Let $\preceq$ denote the lexicographic ordering on $Z\times Z:$ $(a_{i+1},b_{i+1})\preceq (a_i,b_i)\Longleftrightarrow [(a_{i+1}<a_i)\vee ((a_{i+1}=a_i)\&(b_{i+1}\le b_i))]$. We say that the sequences $A$ and $B$ are in good order if $(a_{i+1},b_{i+1})\preceq (a_i,b_i)$. In this paper, we consider the generalizations of six classical characterizations on sequences pair due to Berge, Ryser et al. and present related results.

Monochromatic vertex-disconnection of graphs

Let G be a vertex-colored graph. A vertex cut S of G is called a monochromatic vertex cut if the vertices of S are colored with the same color. A graph G is monochromatically vertex-disconnected if any two nonadjacent vertices of G has a monochromatic vertex cut separating them. The monochromatic vertex-disconnection number of G, denoted by mvd(G), is the maximum number of colors that are used to make G monochromatically vertex-disconnected. In this paper, the connection between the graph parameters are studied: mvd(G), connectivity and block decomposition. We determine the value of mvd(G) for some well known graphs, and then characterize G when n-5\leq mvd(G)\leq n and all blocks of G are minimally 2-connected triangle-free graphs. We obtain the maximum size of a graph G with mvd(G)=k for any k. Furthermore, we study the Erd\H{o}s-Gallai-type results for mvd(G), and completely solve them. Finally, we propose an algorithm to compute mvd(G) and give an mvd-coloring of G.

Lower Bounds on Lattice Covering Densities of Simplices

This paper presents new lower bounds for the lattice covering densities of simplices by studying the Degree-Diameter Problem for abelian Cayley digraphs. In particular, it proves that the density of any lattice covering of a tetrahedron is at least $25/18$ and the density of any lattice covering of a four-dimensional simplex is at least $343/264$.

Algorithm for monochromatic vertex-disconnection of graphs

Let G be a vertex-colored graph. We call a vertex cut S of G a monochromatic vertex cut if the vertices of S are colored with the same color. The graph G is monochromatically vertex-disconnected if any two nonadjacent vertices of G has a monochromatic vertex cut separating them. The monochromatic vertex-disconnection number of G, denoted by mvd(G), is the maximum number of colors that are used to make G monochromatically vertex-disconnected. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to compute mvd(G) and give an mvd-coloring of the graph G. We run this algorithm with an example written in Java. The main part of the code is shown in Appendix B and the complete code is given on Github: https://github.com/fumiaoT/mvd-coloring.git. Secondly, inspired by the previous localization principle, we obtain a upper bound of mvd(G) for some special classes of graphs. In addition, when mvd(G) is large and all blocks of G are minimally 2-connected triangle-free graphs, we characterize G. On these bases, we show that any graph whose blocks are all minimally 2-connected graphs of small order, can be computed mvd(G) and given an mvd-coloring in polynomial time.
