A Class of Simple Rearrangements of the Alternating Harmonic Series

We present an easily defined countable family of permutations of the natural numbers for which explicit rearrangements (i.e., the sums induced by the permutations) can be computed. The digamma function proves to be the key tool for the computations found here for the alternating harmonic series. The permutations $\phi$ under consideration are simple in a sense: they are involutions ($\phi\circ\phi$ is the identity function). We show that the countable set of rearrangements obtained from the simple involutions considered below are dense in the reals.

Oscillatory Loomis-Whitney and Projections of Sublevel Sets

We consider an oscillatory integral operator with Loomis-Whitney multilinear form. The phase is real analytic in a neighborhood of the origin in $\mathbb{R}^d$ and satisfies a nondegeneracy condition related to its Newton polyhedron. Maximal decay is obtained for this operator in certain cases, depending on the Newton polyhedron of the phase and the given Lebesgue exponents. Our estimates imply volumes of sublevel sets of such real analytic functions are small relative to the product of areas of projections onto coordinate hyperplanes.

$\ell^2$ Decoupling in $\mathbb R^2$ for curves with Vanishing Curvature

We expand the class of curves $(\varphi_1(t),\varphi_2(t)),\ t\in[0,1]$ for which the $\ell^2$ decoupling conjecture holds for $2\leq p\leq 6$. Our class of curves includes all real-analytic regular curves with isolated points of vanishing curvature and all curves of the form $(t,t^{1+\nu})$ for $\nu\in (0,\infty)$.

Higher decay inequalities for multilinear oscillatory integrals

In this paper we establish sharp estimates (up to logarithmic losses) for the multilinear oscillatory integral operator studied by Phong, Stein, and Sturm and Carbery and Wright on any product $\prod_{j=1}^d L^{p_j}(\mathbb R)$ with each $p_j \geq 2$, expanding the known results for this operator well outside the previous range $\sum_{j=1}^d p_j^{-1} = d-1$. Our theorem assumes second-order nondegeneracy condition of Varchenko type, and as a corollary reproduces Varchenko's theorem and implies Fourier decay estimates for measures of smooth density on degenerate hypersurfaces in $\mathbb R^d$.

Some Oscillatory Integral Estimates via Real Analysis

We study oscillatory integrals in several variables with analytic, smooth, or $C^k$ phases satisfying a nondegeneracy condition attributed to Varchenko. With only real analytic methods, Varchenko's estimates are rediscovered and generalized. The same methods are pushed further to obtain full asymptotic expansions of such integrals with analytic and smooth phases, and finite expansions with error assuming the phase is only $C^k$. The Newton polyhedron appears naturally in the estimates; in particular, we show precisely how the exponents appearing in the asymptotic expansions depend only on the geometry of the Newton polyhedron of the phase. All estimates proven hold for oscillatory parameter real and nonzero, not just asymptotically.
