The stochastic Zakharov system in dimension $d \geq 4$: Local well-posedness and regularization by noise for scattering

In this paper, we develop the well-posedness theory and uncover the noise-regularization effect on scattering for the stochastic Zakharov system in dimensions $d \geq 4$ and beyond the energy space. Our focus is particularly directed at the large data regime, where the global existence and long-time dynamics of the deterministic Zakharov system remain largely open. We prove the local well-posedness of the stochastic system in the full deterministic regularity regime and establish a blow-up alternative at the endpoint regularity, which implies the persistence of regularity in the full well-posedness regime. Furthermore, we prove that for any large initial data, with high probability, non-conservative noise yields global and scattering solutions. Our proof introduces a tailored functional framework. To establish local well-posedness, we employ a refinement of adapted Fourier restriction and lateral Strichartz spaces, which allows us to control both the nonlinear interactions and the critical first-order derivative perturbations arising from rescaling transforms. To achieve the noise-regularization effect, we augment this setting with maximal function spaces. We derive new trilinear estimates for the stochastic wave nonlinearity that are crucial for the global dynamics by fully exploiting the temporal regularity of geometric Brownian motions in scaling-(sub)critical Besov spaces.

Regularization by noise for the energy- and mass-critical nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations

In this article we prove a regularization by noise phenomenon for the energy-critical and mass-critical nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations. We show that for any deterministic data, the probability that the corresponding solution exists globally and scatters goes to one as the strength of the non-conservative noise goes to infinity. The proof relies on the rescaling transform and a new observation on the rapid uniform decay of geometric Brownian motions after short time.

The energy-critical stochastic Zakharov system

This work is devoted to the stochastic Zakharov system in dimension four, which is the energy-critical dimension. First, we prove local well-posedness in the energy space $H^1\times L^2$ up to the maximal existence time and a blow-up alternative. Second, we prove that for large data solutions exist globally as long as energy and wave mass are below the ground state threshold. Third, we prove a regularization by noise phenomenon: the probability of global existence and scattering goes to one if the strength of the (non-conservative) noise goes to infinity. The proof is based on the refined rescaling approach and a new functional framework, where both Fourier restriction and local smoothing norms are used as well as a (uniform) double endpoint Strichartz and local smoothing inequality for the Schr\"odinger equation with certain rough and time dependent lower order perturbations.

Modified scattering for the three dimensional Maxwell-Dirac system

In this work we prove global well-posedness for the massive Maxwell-Dirac system in the Lorenz gauge in $\mathbb{R}^{1+3}$, for small, sufficiently smooth and decaying initial data, as well as modified scattering for the solutions. Heuristically we exploit the close connection between the massive Maxwell-Dirac and the wave-Klein-Gordon equations, while developing a novel approach which applies directly at the level of the Dirac equations. The modified scattering result follows from a precise description of the asymptotic behavior of the solutions inside the light cone, which we derive via the method of testing with wave packets of Ifrim-Tataru.

The three dimensional stochastic Zakharov system

We study the three dimensional stochastic Zakharov system in the energy space, where the Schr\"odinger equation is driven by linear multiplicative noise and the wave equation is driven by additive noise. We prove the well-posedness of the system up to the maximal existence time and provide a blow-up alternative. We further show that the solution exists at least as long as it remains below the ground state. Two main ingredients of our proof are refined rescaling transformations and the normal form method. Moreover, in contrast to the deterministic setting, our functional framework also incorporates the local smoothing estimate for the Schr\"odinger equation in order to control lower order perturbations arising from the noise. Finally, we prove a regularization by noise result which states that finite time blowup before any given time can be prevented with high probability by adding sufficiently large non-conservative noise. The key point of its proof is an estimate in Strichartz spaces for solutions of a Schr\"odinger type equation with a nonlocal potential involving the free wave.

On the almost sure scattering for the energy-critical cubic wave equation with supercritical data

In this article we study the defocusing energy-critical nonlinear wave equation on $\mathbb{R}^4$ with scaling supercritical data. We prove almost sure scattering for randomized initial data in $H^s(\mathbb{R}^4) \times H^{s-1}(\mathbb{R}^4)$ with $\frac{5}{6} < s < 1$. The proof relies on new probabilistic estimates for the linear flow of the wave equation with randomized data, where the randomization is based on a unit-scale decomposition in frequency space, a decomposition in the angular variable, and a unit-scale decomposition of physical space. In particular, we show that the solution to the linear wave equation with randomized data almost surely belongs to $L^1_t L^\infty_x$.

Almost sure local wellposedness and scattering for the energy-critical cubic nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with supercritical data

We study the cubic defocusing nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation on $\mathbb{R}^4$ with supercritical initial data. For randomized initial data in $H^s(\mathbb{R}^4)$, we prove almost sure local wellposedness for $\frac{1}{7} < s < 1$ and almost sure scattering for $\frac{5}{7} < s < 1$. The randomization is based on a unit-scale decomposition in frequency space, a decomposition in the angular variable, and - for the almost sure scattering result - an additional unit-scale decomposition in physical space. We employ new probabilistic estimates for the linear Schr\"odinger flow with randomized data, where we effectively combine the advantages of the different decompositions.

Local well-posedness of a system describing laser-plasma interactions

A degenerate Zakharov system arises as a model for the description of laser-plasma interactions. It is a coupled system of a Schr\"odinger and a wave equation with a non-dispersive direction. In this paper, a new local well-posedness result for rough initial data is established. The proof is based on an efficient use of local smoothing and maximal function norms.

Randomized final-state problem for the Zakharov system in dimension three

We consider the final-state problem for the Zakharov system in the energy space in three space dimensions. For $(u_+, v_+) \in H^1 \times L^2$ without any size restriction, symmetry assumption or additional angular regularity, we perform a physical-space randomization on $u_+$ and an angular randomization on $v_+$ yielding random final states $(u_+^\omega, v_+^\omega)$. We obtain that for almost every $\omega$, there is a unique solution of the Zakharov system scattering to the final state $(u_+^\omega, v_+^\omega)$. The key ingredient in the proof is the use of time-weighted norms and generalized Strichartz estimates which are accessible due to the randomization.

Local wellposedness of quasilinear Maxwell equations with absorbing boundary conditions

In this article we provide a local wellposedness theory for quasilinear Maxwell equations with absorbing boundary conditions in $\mathcal{H}^m$ for $m \geq 3$. The Maxwell equations are equipped with instantaneous nonlinear material laws leading to a quasilinear symmetric hyperbolic first order system. We consider both linear and nonlinear absorbing boundary conditions. We show existence and uniqueness of a local solution, provide a blow-up criterion in the Lipschitz norm, and prove the continuous dependence on the data. In the case of nonlinear boundary conditions we need a smallness assumption on the tangential trace of the solution. The proof is based on detailed apriori estimates and the regularity theory for the corresponding linear problem which we also develop here.

Local wellposedness of quasilinear Maxwell equations with conservative interface conditions

We establish a comprehensive local wellposedness theory for the quasilinear Maxwell system with interfaces in the space of piecewise $H^m$-functions for $m \geq 3$. The system is equipped with instantaneous and piecewise regular material laws and perfectly conducting interfaces and boundaries. We also provide a blow-up criterion in the Lipschitz norm and prove the continuous dependence on the data. The proof relies on precise a priori estimates and the regularity theory for the corresponding linear problem also shown here.

Regularity theory for nonautonomous Maxwell equations with perfectly conducting boundary conditions

In this work we study linear Maxwell equations with time- and space-dependent matrix-valued permittivity and permeability on domains with a perfectly conducting boundary. This leads to an initial boundary value problem for a first order hyperbolic system with characteristic boundary. We prove a priori estimates for solutions in $H^m$. Moreover, we show the existence of a unique $H^m$-solution if the coefficients and the data are accordingly regular and satisfy certain compatibility conditions. Since the boundary is characteristic for the Maxwell system, we have to exploit the divergence conditions in the Maxwell equations in order to derive the energy-type $H^m$-estimates. The combination of these estimates with several regularization techniques then yields the existence of solutions in $H^m$.

Local wellposedness of nonlinear Maxwell equations with perfectly conducting boundary conditions

In this article we develop the local wellposedness theory for quasilinear Maxwell equations in $H^m$ for all $m \geq 3$ on domains with perfectly conducting boundary conditions. The macroscopic Maxwell equations with instantaneous material laws for the polarization and the magnetization lead to a quasilinear first order hyperbolic system whose wellposedness in $H^3$ is not covered by the available results in this case. We prove the existence and uniqueness of local solutions in $H^m$ with $m \geq 3$ of the corresponding initial boundary value problem if the material laws and the data are accordingly regular and compatible. We further characterize finite time blowup in terms of the Lipschitz norm and we show that the solutions depend continuously on their data. Finally, we establish the finite propagation speed of the solutions.
