On a specific family of orthogonal polynomials of Bernstein-Szeg\"o type

We study a class of weight functions on $[-1,1]$, which are special cases of the general weights studied by Bernstein and Szeg\"o, as well as their extentions to the interval $[-a,1]$ for a continuous parameter $a>0$. These weights are parametrized by two positive integers. As these integers tend to infinity, these weights approximate certain weight functions on $\mathbb{R}$ considered in the earlier literature in connection with orthogonal polynomials related to elliptic functions. It turns out that an orthogonal polynomial of certain degree corresponding to these weights has a particularly simple form with known roots. This fact allows us to find explicit quadrature formulas for these weights and construct measures on $\mathbb{R}$ with identical moments. We also find finite analogs of some improper integrals first studied by Glaisher and Ramanujan, and show that some of the functions used in this work are in fact generating functions of certain finite trigonometric power sums.

Miscellaneous summation, integration, and transformation formulas

This is a discussion of miscellaneous summation, integration and transformation formulas obtained using Fourier analysis. The topics covered are: Series of the form $\sum_{n\in\mathbb{Z}} c_ne^{\pi i \gamma n^2}$; Fusion of integrals, and in particular fusion of $q$-beta integrals related to Gauss-Fourier transform, and a related family of eigenfunctions of the cosine Fourier transform; Summation formulas of the type $\sum_{n\ge 1}\frac{\chi(n)}{n}\,\varphi(n)$ with Dirichlet characters; Trigonometric Fourier series expansion of hypergeometric functions of the argument $\sin^2x$; Modifications of the inverse tangent integral and identities for corresponding infinite products.

Self-reciprocal functions and double Mordell integrals

The theory of self-reciprocal functions is applied to the study Mordell type integrals. We find two particular eigenfunctions of the double cosine Fourier transform and then use them to evaluate certain one- and two-dimensional Mordell type integrals in closed form. A reduction formula is given for a certain family of double Mordell integrals in terms of one-dimensional integrals.

Log-trigonometric integrals and elliptic functions

A class of log-trigonometric integrals are evaluated in terms of elliptic functions. From this, by using the elliptic integral singular values, one can obtain closed form evaluations of integrals such as \[ \int\limits_0^{{\pi}/{2}}\ln\left(\cosh\frac{x}{\sqrt{3}}+\cos\frac{\ln \left(2\cos x\right)}{\sqrt{3}}\right)dx=\frac{\pi^2}{8\sqrt{3}}-\frac{\pi}{4}\ln\left(1+\sqrt{3}\right)+\frac{13\pi}{24}\ln 2. \]

$q$-analogs of sinc sums and integrals

$q$-analogs of sum equals integral relations $\sum_{n\in\mathbb{Z}}f(n)=\int_{-\infty}^\infty f(x)dx$ for sinc functions and binomial coefficients are studied. Such analogs are already known in the context of $q$-hypergeometric series. This paper deals with multibasic `fractional' generalizations that are not $q$-hypergeometric functions.

On certain finite and infinite sums of inverse tangents

An identity is proved connecting two finite sums of inverse tangents. This identity is discretized version of Jacobi's imaginary transformation for the modular angle from the theory of elliptic functions. Some other related identities are discussed.

Quadratic Transformations of Hypergeometric Function and Series with Harmonic Numbers

In this brief note, we show how to apply Kummer's and other quadratic transformation formulas for Gauss' and generalized hypergeometric functions in order to obtain transformation and summation formulas for series with harmonic numbers that contain one or two continuous parameters. We also give a generating function of the sequence $\frac{(a)_n (1-a)_n}{(n!)^2}H_n$ as a combination of Gauss hypergeometric function and elementary functions.

Finite and infinite product transformations

Several infinite products are studied that satisfy the transformation relation of the type $f(\alpha)=f(1/\alpha)$. For certain values of the parameters these infinite products reduce to modular forms. Finite counterparts of these infinite products are motivated by solution of Dirichlet boundary problem on a rectangular grid. These finite product formulas give an elementary proof of several modular transformations.

Two-dimensional Fourier transformations and double Mordell integrals

Fourier transformations of several functions of one and two variables are evaluated and then used to derive some integral and series identities. It is shown that certain double Mordell integrals can be reduced to a sum of products of one-dimensional Mordell integrals. As a consequence of this reduction, a quadratic polynomial identity is found connecting products of certain one-dimensional Mordell integrals. An integral that depends on one real valued parameter is calculated reminiscent of an integral previously calculated by Ramanujan and Glasser. Some connections to elliptic functions and lattice sums are discussed.
