Equivariant homology of the symplectic affine Grassmannian and dual affine Schur $P$-functions

We study the torus-equivariant homology $H_*^T(\mathrm{Gr}_G)$ of the affine Grassmannian $\mathrm{Gr}_G$, where $G=\mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(\mathbb{C})$ is the symplectic group. This homology admits a natural ring structure and a Schubert basis, giving rise to a well-defined Schubert calculus. We realize $H_*^T(\mathrm{Gr}_G)$ in terms of symmetric functions. Our first main result introduces a new family of symmetric functions, called the \emph{dual affine Schur $P$-functions}, which represent the Schubert classes. These functions are defined through the action of the affine nil-Hecke algebra, and specialize, in the stable limit as $n\to \infty$, to the dual factorial $P$-functions of Nakagawa and Naruse. Our second main result gives a precise comparison between this symmetric function model and the geometric construction of $H_*^T (\mathrm{Gr}_G)$ due to Ginzburg and Peterson, which identifies it with a coordinate ring of a centralizer family in the Langlands dual group.

Equivariant $K$-homology of affine Grassmannian and $K$-theoretic double $k$-Schur functions

We study the torus equivariant K-homology ring of the affine Grassmannian $\mathrm{Gr}_G$ where $G$ is a connected reductive linear algebraic group. In type $A$, we introduce equivariantly deformed symmetric functions called the K-theoretic double $k$-Schur functions as the Schubert bases. The functions are constructed by Demazure operators acting on equivariant parameters. As an application, we provide a Ginzburg-Peterson type realization of the torus-equivariant K-homology ring of $\mathrm{Gr}_{{SL}_n}$ as the coordinate ring of a centralizer family for $PGL_n(\mathbb{C})$.

Marked Bumpless Pipedreams and Compatible Pairs

We construct a bijection between marked bumpless pipedreams with reverse compatible pairs, which are in bijection with not-necessarily-reduced pipedreams. This directly unifies various formulas for Grothendieck polynomials in the literature. Our bijection is a generalization of a variant of the bijection of Gao and Huang in the unmarked, reduced case.

Wreath Macdonald polynomials, a survey

Wreath Macdonald polynomials arise from the geometry of $\Gamma$-fixed loci of Hilbert schemes of points in the plane, where $\Gamma$ is a finite cyclic group of order $r\ge 1$. For $r=1$, they recover the classical (modified) Macdonald symmetric functions through Haiman's geometric realization of these functions. The existence, integrality, and positivity of wreath Macdonald polynomials for $r>1$ was conjectured by Haiman and first proved in work of Bezrukavnikov and Finkelberg by means of an equivalence of derived categories. Despite the power of this approach, a lack of explicit tools providing direct access to wreath Macdonald polynomials -- in the spirit of Macdonald's original works -- has limited progress in the subject. A recent result of Wen provides a remarkable set of such tools, packaged in the representation theory of quantum toroidal algebras. In this article, we survey Wen's result along with the basic theory of wreath Macdonald polynomials, including its geometric foundations and the role of bigraded reflection functors in the construction of wreath analogs of the $\nabla$ operator. We also formulate new conjectures on the values of important constants arising in the theory of wreath Macdonald $P$-polynomials. A variety of examples are used to illustrate these objects and constructions throughout the paper.

Wreath Macdonald operators

We construct a novel family of difference-permutation operators and prove that they are diagonalized by the wreath Macdonald $P$-polynomials; the eigenvalues are written in terms of elementary symmetric polynomials of arbitrary degree. Our operators arise from integral formulas for the action of the horizontal Heisenberg subalgebra in the vertex representation of the corresponding quantum toroidal algebra

A row analogue of Hecke column insertion

We introduce a new row insertion algorithm on decreasing tableaux and increasing tableaux, generalizing Edelman-Greene (EG) row insertion. Our row insertion algorithm is a nontrivial variation of Hecke column insertion which generalizes EG column insertion. Similar to Hecke column insertion, our row insertion is bijective and respects Hecke equivalence, and therefore recovers the expansions of stable Grothendieck functions into Grassmannian stable Grothendieck functions.

Back stable K-theory Schubert calculus

We study the back stable $K$-theory Schubert calculus of the infinite flag variety. We define back stable (double) Grothendieck polynomials and double $K$-Stanley functions and establish coproduct expansion formulae. Applying work of Weigandt, we extend our previous results on bumpless pipedreams from cohomology to $K$-theory. We study finiteness and positivity properties of the ring of back stable Grothendieck polynomials, and divided difference operators in $K$-homology.

The M\"obius function on Affine Grassmannian elements

To any saturated chain in the affine Weyl group whose translation parts are sufficiently regular, we associate a near path and a far path in the quantum Bruhat graph. Using this, working in the Bruhat order on the minimal-length representatives of the cosets in the affine Weyl group with respect to the finite Weyl group, we characterize the pairs of elements for which the M\"obius function is nonzero. This is applied to obtain explicit expansions in the $K$-theory of affine Grassmannians, of the basis of ideal sheaves into the basis of structure sheaves of Schubert varieties.

Grothendieck to Lascoux expansions

We establish the conjecture of Reiner and Yong for an explicit combinatorial formula for the expansion of a Grothendieck polynomial into the basis of Lascoux polynomials. This expansion is a subtle refinement of its symmetric function version due to Buch, Kresch, Shimozono, Tamvakis, and Yong, which gives the expansion of stable Grothendieck polynomials indexed by permutations into Grassmannian stable Grothendieck polynomials. Our expansion is the K-theoretic analogue of that of a Schubert polynomial into Demazure characters, whose symmetric analogue is the expansion of a Stanley symmetric function into Schur functions. Our expansions extend to flagged Grothendieck polynomials.

On the coproduct in affine Schubert calculus

The cohomology of the affine flag variety of a complex reductive group is a comodule over the cohomology of the affine Grassmannian. We give positive formulae for the coproduct of an affine Schubert class in terms of affine Stanley classes and finite Schubert classes, in (torus-equivariant) cohomology and K-theory. As an application, we deduce monomial positivity for the affine Schubert polynomials of the second author.

Back stable Schubert calculus

We study the back stable Schubert calculus of the infinite flag variety. Our main results are: 1) a formula for back stable (double) Schubert classes expressing them in terms of a symmetric function part and a finite part; 2) a novel definition of double and triple Stanley symmetric functions; 3) a proof of the positivity of double Edelman-Greene coefficients generalizing the results of Edelman-Greene and Lascoux-Schutzenberger; 4) the definition of a new class of bumpless pipedreams, giving new formulae for double Schubert polynomials, back stable double Schubert polynomials, and a new form of the Edelman-Greene insertion algorithm; 5) the construction of the Peterson subalgebra of the infinite nilHecke algebra, extending work of Peterson in the affine case; 6) equivariant Pieri rules for the homology of the infinite Grassmannian; 7) homology divided difference operators that create the equivariant homology Schubert classes of the infinite Grassmannian.

Hall-Littlewood expansions of Schur delta operators at $t = 0$

For any Schur function $s_{\nu}$, the associated {\em delta operator} $\Delta'_{s_{\nu}}$ is a linear operator on the ring of symmetric functions which has the modified Macdonald polynomials as an eigenbasis. When $\nu = (1^{n-1})$ is a column of length $n-1$, the symmetric function $\Delta'_{e_{n-1}} e_n$ appears in the Shuffle Theorem of Carlsson-Mellit. More generally, when $\nu = (1^{k-1})$ is any column the polynomial $\Delta'_{e_{k-1}} e_n$ is the symmetric function side of the Delta Conjecture of Haglund-Remmel-Wilson. We give an expansion of $\omega \Delta'_{s_{\nu}} e_n$ at $t = 0$ in the dual Hall-Littlewood basis for any partition $\nu$. The Delta Conjecture at $t = 0$ was recently proven by Garsia-Haglund-Remmel-Yoo; our methods give a new proof of this result. We give an algebraic interpretation of $\omega \Delta'_{s_{\nu}} e_n$ at $t = 0$ in terms of a $\mathrm{Hom}$-space.

A conjectural Peterson isomorphism in K-theory

We state a precise conjectural isomorphism between localizations of the equivariant quantum K-theory ring of a flag variety and the equivariant K-homology ring of the affine Grassmannian, in particular relating their Schubert bases and structure constants. This generalizes Peterson's isomorphism in (co)homology. We prove a formula for the Pontryagin structure constants in the K-homology ring, and we use it to check our conjecture in few situations.

Quiver Hall-Littlewood functions and Kostka-Shoji polynomials

For any triple $(i,a,\mu)$ consisting of a vertex $i$ in a quiver $Q$, a positive integer $a$, and a dominant $GL_a$-weight $\mu$, we define a quiver current $H^{(i,a)}_\mu$ acting on the tensor power $\Lambda^Q$ of symmetric functions over the vertices of $Q$. These provide a quiver generalization of parabolic Garsia-Jing creation operators in the theory of Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions. For a triple $(\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a},\mu(\bullet))$ of sequences of such data, we define the quiver Hall-Littlewood function $H^{\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a}}_{\mu(\bullet)}$ as the result of acting on $1\in\Lambda^Q$ by the corresponding sequence of quiver currents. The quiver Kostka-Shoji polynomials are the expansion coefficients of $H^{\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a}}_{\mu(\bullet)}$ in the tensor Schur basis. These polynomials include the Kostka-Foulkes polynomials and parabolic Kostka polynomials (Jordan quiver) and the Kostka-Shoji polynomials (cyclic quiver) as special cases. We show that the quiver Kostka-Shoji polynomials are graded multiplicities in the equivariant Euler characteristic of a vector bundle on Lusztig's convolution diagram determined by the sequences $\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a}$. For certain compositions of currents we conjecture higher cohomology vanishing of the associated vector bundle on Lusztig's convolution diagram. For quivers with no branching we propose an explicit positive formula for the quiver Kostka-Shoji polynomials in terms of catabolizable multitableaux. We also relate our constructions to $K$-theoretic Hall algebras, by realizing the quiver Kostka-Shoji polynomials as natural structure constants and showing that the quiver currents provide a symmetric function lifting of the corresponding shuffle product. In the case of a cyclic quiver, we explain how the quiver currents arise in Saito's vertex representation of the quantum toroidal algebra of type $\mathfrak{sl}_r$.

Ordered set partitions, generalized coinvariant algebras, and the Delta Conjecture

The symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ acts on the polynomial ring $\mathbb{Q}[\mathbf{x}_n] = \mathbb{Q}[x_1, \dots, x_n]$ by variable permutation. The invariant ideal $I_n$ is the ideal generated by all $\mathfrak{S}_n$-invariant polynomials with vanishing constant term. The quotient $R_n = \frac{\mathbb{Q}[\mathbf{x}_n]}{I_n}$ is called the coinvariant algebra. The coinvariant algebra $R_n$ has received a great deal of study in algebraic and geometric combinatorics. We introduce a generalization $I_{n,k} \subseteq \mathbb{Q}[\mathbf{x}_n]$ of the ideal $I_n$ indexed by two positive integers $k \leq n$. The corresponding quotient $R_{n,k} := \frac{\mathbb{Q}[\mathbf{x}_n]}{I_{n,k}}$ carries a graded action of $\mathfrak{S}_n$ and specializes to $R_n$ when $k = n$. We generalize many of the nice properties of $R_n$ to $R_{n,k}$. In particular, we describe the Hilbert series of $R_{n,k}$, give extensions of the Artin and Garsia-Stanton monomial bases of $R_n$ to $R_{n,k}$, determine the reduced Gr\"obner basis for $I_{n,k}$ with respect to the lexicographic monomial order, and describe the graded Frobenius series of $R_{n,k}$. Just as the combinatorics of $R_n$ are controlled by permutations in $\mathfrak{S}_n$, we will show that the combinatorics of $R_{n,k}$ are controlled by ordered set partitions of $\{1, 2, \dots, n\}$ with $k$ blocks. The {\em Delta Conjecture} of Haglund, Remmel, and Wilson is a generalization of the Shuffle Conjecture in the theory of diagonal coinvariants. We will show that the graded Frobenius series of $R_{n,k}$ is (up to a minor twist) the $t = 0$ specialization of the combinatorial side of the Delta Conjecture. It remains an open problem to give a bigraded $\mathfrak{S}_n$-module $V_{n,k}$ whose Frobenius image is even conjecturally equal to any of the expressions in the Delta Conjecture; our module $R_{n,k}$ solves this problem in the specialization $t = 0$.

A uniform model for Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals III: Nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials at $t=0$ and Demazure characters

We establish the equality of the specialization $E_{w\lambda}(x;q,0)$ of the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomial $E_{w\lambda}(x;q,t)$ at $t=0$ with the graded character $\mathop{\rm gch} U_{w}^{+}(\lambda)$ of a certain Demazure-type submodule $U_{w}^{+}(\lambda)$ of a tensor product of "single-column" Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules for an untwisted affine Lie algebra, where $\lambda$ is a dominant integral weight and $w$ is a (finite) Weyl group element, this generalizes our previous result, that is, the equality between the specialization $P_{\lambda}(x;q,0)$ of the symmetric Macdonald polynomial $P_{\lambda}(x;q,t)$ at $t=0$ and the graded character of a tensor product of single-column Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules. We also give two combinatorial formulas for the mentioned specialization of a nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomial: one in terms of quantum Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths and the other in terms of the quantum alcove model.
