Twisted N=1, d=4 supergravity and its symmetries

We display the construction of a twisted superalgebra for the N=1 Euclidian supergravity on 4-manifolds with an almost complex structure. It acts on a representation of twisted supersymmetry made of forms with odd and even statistics and it is covariant under a SU(2)\subset SO(4) Lorentz invariance of the manifold's tangent-space. It contains 4 twisted supersymmetry generators, one nilpotent scalar, one vector and one pseudo-scalar. The superalgebra closes on the twisted fields of supergravity in its new minimal set of auxiliary fields. Its couplings to the twisted Wess and Zumino and vector multiplets are also determined.

A Note on Holography and Phase Transitions

Focusing on the connection between the Landau theory of second order phase transitions and the holographic approach to critical phenomena, we study diverse field theories in an anti-de Sitter black hole background. Through simple analytical approximations, solutions to the equations of motion can be obtained in closed form which give rather good approximations of the results obtained using more involved numerical methods. The agreement we find stems from rather elementary considerations on perturbation of Schr\"odinger equations.

An Efficient Method for the Solution of Schwinger--Dyson equations for propagators

Efficient computation methods are devised for the perturbative solution of Schwinger--Dyson equations for propagators. We show how a simple computation allows to obtain the dominant contribution in the sum of many parts of previous computations. This allows for an easy study of the asymptotic behavior of the perturbative series. In the cases of the four-dimensional supersymmetric Wess--Zumino model and the $\phi_6^3$ complex scalar field, the singularities of the Borel transform for both positive and negative values of the parameter are obtained and compared.

Approximate Differential Equations for Renormalization Group Functions in Models Free of Vertex Divergencies

I introduce an approximation scheme that allows to deduce differential equations for the renormalization group $β$-function from a Schwinger--Dyson equation for the propagator. This approximation is proven to give the dominant asymptotic behavior of the perturbative solution. In the supersymmetric Wess--Zumino model and a $ϕ^3_6$ scalar model which do not have divergent vertex functions, this simple Schwinger--Dyson equation for the propagator captures the main quantum corrections.

Higher loop renormalization of a supersymmetric field theory

Using Dyson--Schwinger equations within an approach developed by Broadhurst and Kreimer and the renormalization group, we show how high loop order of the renormalization group coefficients can be efficiently computed in a supersymmetric model.

Elements of dodecahedral cosmology

A general method for the determination of the harmonics of quotients of the 3-sphere is given. They can all be deduced from three objects already known from Klein. We further show explicitly how these harmonics can be organized in irreducible representations of the holonomy group: this allows for the determination of the full correlation matrix of the Cosmic Microwave Background in the spherical harmonics basis.

The quantum Neumann model: refined semiclassical results

We extend the semiclassical study of the Neumann model down to the deep quantum regime. A detailed study of connection formulae at the turning points allows to get good matching with the exact results for the whole range of parameters.

Supergravity and the Knitting of the Kalb--Ramond Two-Form in Eight-Dimensional Topological Gravity

Topological euclidean gravity is built in eight dimensions for manifolds with $Spin(7) \subset SO(8)$ holonomy. In a previous work, we considered the construction of an eight-dimensional topological theory describing the graviton and one graviphoton. Here we solve the question of determining a topological model for the combined system of a metric and a Kalb--Ramond two-form gauge field. We then recover the complete $N=1, D=8$ supergravity theory in a twisted form. We observe that the generalized self-duality conditions of our model correspond to the octonionic string equations.

Eight-Dimensional Topological Gravity and its Correspondence with Supergravity

A topological theory for euclidean gravity in eight dimensions is built by enforcing octonionic self-duality conditions on the spin connection. The eight-dimensional manifold must be of a special type, with G_2 or Spin(7) holonomy. The resulting theory is related to a twisted version of N=1, D=8 supergravity. The situation is comparable to that of the topological Yang--Mills theory in eight dimensions, for which the SO(8) invariance is broken down to Spin(7), but is recovered after untwisting the topological theory.

Supersymmetry with a Ghost Time

The progress brought to the study of chiral fermions and gauge theories by quantization methods with a bulk time suggests their usefulness in supersymmetric theories. Using superspace methods, we show how an explicitly supersymmetric version of such quantization methods may be given.
