Multiple integral formulae for the scalar product of on-shell and off-shell Bethe vectors in SU(3)-invariant models

We study the scalar product S_{l,m} between an on-shell and an off-shell Bethe state in models with SU(3)-invariance, where l and m denote the cardinalities of the two sets of Bethe roots. We construct recursion relations relating S_{l,m} to scalar products of smaller dimension, namely S_{l-1,m} and S_{l,m-1}. Solving these recursion relations we obtain new multiple integral expressions for S_{l,m}, whose integrands are (l+m) \times (l+m) determinants, and closely related to the Slavnov determinant expression for the SU(2) scalar product.

Scalar products in generalized models with SU(3)-symmetry

We consider a generalized model with SU(3)-invariant R-matrix, and review the nested Bethe Ansatz for constructing eigenvectors of the transfer matrix. A sum formula for the scalar product between generic Bethe vectors, originally obtained by Reshetikhin [11], is discussed. This formula depends on a certain partition function Z(\{\lambda\},\{\mu\}|\{w\},\{v\}), which we evaluate explicitly. In the limit when the variables \{\mu\} or \{v\} approach infinity, this object reduces to the domain wall partition function of the six-vertex model Z(\{\lambda\}|\{w\}). Using this fact, we obtain a new expression for the off-shell scalar product (between a generic Bethe vector and a Bethe eigenvector), in the case when one set of Bethe variables tends to infinity. The expression obtained is a product of determinants, one of which is the Slavnov determinant from SU(2) theory. It extends a result of Caetano [13].

Slavnov determinants, Yang-Mills structure constants, and discrete KP

Using Slavnov's scalar product of a Bethe eigenstate and a generic state in closed XXZ spin-1/2 chains, with possibly twisted boundary conditions, we obtain determinant expressions for tree-level structure constants in 1-loop conformally-invariant sectors in various planar (super) Yang-Mills theories. When certain rapidity variables are allowed to be free rather than satisfy Bethe equations, these determinants become discrete KP tau-functions.

An Izergin-Korepin procedure for calculating scalar products in six-vertex models

Using the framework of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz, we study the scalar product of the inhomogeneous XXZ spin-1/2 chain. Inspired by the Izergin-Korepin procedure for evaluating the domain wall partition function, we obtain a set of conditions which uniquely determine the scalar product. Assuming the Bethe equations for one set of variables within the scalar product, these conditions may be solved to produce a determinant expression originally found by Slavnov. We also consider the inhomogeneous XX spin-1/2 chain in an external magnetic field. Repeating our earlier procedure, we find a set of conditions on the scalar product of this model and solve them in the presence of the Bethe equations. The expression obtained is in factorized form.

XXZ scalar products and KP

Using a Jacobi-Trudi-type identity, we show that the scalar product of a general state and a Bethe eigenstate in a finite-length XXZ spin-1/2 chain is (a restriction of) a KP tau function. This leads to a correspondence between the eigenstates and points on Sato's Grassmannian. Each of these points is a function of the rapidities of the corresponding eigenstate, the inhomogeneity variables of the spin chain and the crossing parameter.

Hall-Littlewood plane partitions and KP

MacMahon's classic generating function of random plane partitions, which is related to Schur polynomials, was recently extended by Vuletic to a generating function of weighted plane partitions that is related to Hall-Littlewood polynomials, S(t), and further to one related to Macdonald polynomials, S(t,q). Using Jing's 1-parameter deformation of charged free fermions, we obtain a Fock space derivation of the Hall-Littlewood extension. Confining the plane partitions to a finite s-by-s square base, we show that the resulting generating function, S_{s-by-s}(t), is an evaluation of a tau-function of KP.

Domain wall partition functions and KP

We observe that the partition function of the six vertex model on a finite square lattice with domain wall boundary conditions is (a restriction of) a KP tau function and express it as an expectation value of charged free fermions (up to an overall normalization).

On free fermions and plane partitions

We use free fermion methods to re-derive a result of Okounkov and Reshetikhin relating charged fermions to random plane partitions, and to extend it to relate neutral fermions to strict plane partitions.

On the trigonometric Felderhof model with domain wall boundary conditions

We consider the trigonometric Felderhof model, of free fermions in an external field, on a finite lattice with domain wall boundary conditions. The vertex weights are functions of rapidities and external fields. We obtain a determinant expression for the partition function in the special case where the dependence on the rapidities is eliminated, but for general external field variables. This determinant can be evaluated in product form. In the homogeneous limit, it is proportional to a 2-Toda tau function. Next, we use the algebraic Bethe ansatz factorized basis to obtain a product expression for the partition function in the general case with dependence on all variables.

BKP plane partitions

Using BKP neutral fermions, we derive a product expression for the generating function of volume-weighted plane partitions that satisfy two conditions. If we call a set of adjacent equal height-h columns, h > 0, an h-path, then 1. Every h-path can assume one of two possible colours. 2. There is a unique way to move along an h-path from any column to another.
