GRID: Scene-Graph-based Instruction-driven Robotic Task Planning

Recent works have shown that Large Language Models (LLMs) can facilitate the grounding of instructions for robotic task planning. Despite this progress, most existing works have primarily focused on utilizing raw images to aid LLMs in understanding environmental information. However, this approach not only limits the scope of observation but also typically necessitates extensive multimodal data collection and large-scale models. In this paper, we propose a novel approach called Graph-based Robotic Instruction Decomposer (GRID), which leverages scene graphs instead of images to perceive global scene information and iteratively plan subtasks for a given instruction. Our method encodes object attributes and relationships in graphs through an LLM and Graph Attention Networks, integrating instruction features to predict subtasks consisting of pre-defined robot actions and target objects in the scene graph. This strategy enables robots to acquire semantic knowledge widely observed in the environment from the scene graph. To train and evaluate GRID, we establish a dataset construction pipeline to generate synthetic datasets for graph-based robotic task planning. Experiments have shown that our method outperforms GPT-4 by over 25.4% in subtask accuracy and 43.6% in task accuracy. Moreover, our method achieves a real-time speed of 0.11s per inference. Experiments conducted on datasets of unseen scenes and scenes with varying numbers of objects demonstrate that the task accuracy of GRID declined by at most 3.8%, showcasing its robust cross-scene generalization ability. We validate our method in both physical simulation and the real world. More details can be found on the project page https://jackyzengl.github.io/GRID.github.io/.

Properties of the $η_q$ leading-twist distribution amplitude and its effects to the $B/D^+ \toη^{(\prime)}\ell^+ ν_\ell$ decays

The $η^{(\prime)}$-mesons in the quark-flavor basis are mixtures of two mesonic states $|η_{q}\rangle=|\bar u u+\bar d d\rangle/\sqrt 2$ and $|η_{s}\rangle=|\bar s s\rangle$. In the previous work, we have made a detailed study on the $η_{s}$ leading-twist distribution amplitude. As a sequential work, in the present paper, we fix the $η_q$ leading-twist distribution amplitude by using the light-cone harmonic oscillator model for its wave function and by using the QCD sum rules within the QCD background field to calculate its moments. The input parameters of $η_q$ leading-twist distribution amplitude $ϕ_{2;η_q}$ at an initial scale $μ_0\sim 1$ GeV are then fixed by using those moments. The sum rules for the $0_{\rm th}$-order moment can also be used to fix the magnitude of $η_q$ decay constant, which gives $f_{η_q}=0.141\pm0.005$ GeV. As an application of the present derived $ϕ_{2;η_q}$, we calculate the transition form factors $B(D)^+ \toη^{(\prime)}$ by using the QCD light-cone sum rules up to twist-4 accuracy and by including the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the twist-2 part, and then fix the related CKM matrix element and the decay width for the semi-leptonic decays $B(D)^+ \toη^{(\prime)}\ell^+ ν_\ell$.

NormNet: Scale Normalization for 6D Pose Estimation in Stacked Scenarios

Existing Object Pose Estimation (OPE) methods for stacked scenarios are not robust to changes in object scale. This paper proposes a new 6DoF OPE network (NormNet) for different scale objects in stacked scenarios. Specifically, each object's scale is first learned with point-wise regression. Then, all objects in the stacked scenario are normalized into the same scale through semantic segmentation and affine transformation. Finally, they are fed into a shared pose estimator to recover their 6D poses. In addition, we introduce a new Sim-to-Real transfer pipeline, combining style transfer and domain randomization. This improves the NormNet's performance on real data even if we only train it on synthetic data. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance on public benchmarks and the MultiScale dataset we constructed. The real-world experiments show that our method can robustly estimate the 6D pose of objects at different scales.

Medical Image Segmentation via Sparse Coding Decoder

Transformers have achieved significant success in medical image segmentation, owing to its capability to capture long-range dependencies. Previous works incorporate convolutional layers into the encoder module of transformers, thereby enhancing their ability to learn local relationships among pixels. However, transformers may suffer from limited generalization capabilities and reduced robustness, attributed to the insufficient spatial recovery ability of their decoders. To address this issue, A convolution sparse vector coding based decoder is proposed , namely CAScaded multi-layer Convolutional Sparse vector Coding DEcoder (CASCSCDE), which represents features extracted by the encoder using sparse vectors. To prove the effectiveness of our CASCSCDE, The widely-used TransUNet model is chosen for the demonstration purpose, and the CASCSCDE is incorporated with TransUNet to establish the TransCASCSCDE architecture. Our experiments demonstrate that TransUNet with CASCSCDE significantly enhances performance on the Synapse benchmark, obtaining up to 3.15\% and 1.16\% improvements in DICE and mIoU scores, respectively. CASCSCDE opens new ways for constructing decoders based on convolutional sparse vector coding.

Reinforcement Learning Based Pushing and Grasping Objects from Ungraspable Poses

Grasping an object when it is in an ungraspable pose is a challenging task, such as books or other large flat objects placed horizontally on a table. Inspired by human manipulation, we address this problem by pushing the object to the edge of the table and then grasping it from the hanging part. In this paper, we develop a model-free Deep Reinforcement Learning framework to synergize pushing and grasping actions. We first pre-train a Variational Autoencoder to extract high-dimensional features of input scenario images. One Proximal Policy Optimization algorithm with the common reward and sharing layers of Actor-Critic is employed to learn both pushing and grasping actions with high data efficiency. Experiments show that our one network policy can converge 2.5 times faster than the policy using two parallel networks. Moreover, the experiments on unseen objects show that our policy can generalize to the challenging case of objects with curved surfaces and off-center irregularly shaped objects. Lastly, our policy can be transferred to a real robot without fine-tuning by using CycleGAN for domain adaption and outperforms the push-to-wall baseline.

3DFill:Reference-guided Image Inpainting by Self-supervised 3D Image Alignment

Most existing image inpainting algorithms are based on a single view, struggling with large holes or the holes containing complicated scenes. Some reference-guided algorithms fill the hole by referring to another viewpoint image and use 2D image alignment. Due to the camera imaging process, simple 2D transformation is difficult to achieve a satisfactory result. In this paper, we propose 3DFill, a simple and efficient method for reference-guided image inpainting. Given a target image with arbitrary hole regions and a reference image from another viewpoint, the 3DFill first aligns the two images by a two-stage method: 3D projection + 2D transformation, which has better results than 2D image alignment. The 3D projection is an overall alignment between images and the 2D transformation is a local alignment focused on the hole region. The entire process of image alignment is self-supervised. We then fill the hole in the target image with the contents of the aligned image. Finally, we use a conditional generation network to refine the filled image to obtain the inpainting result. 3DFill achieves state-of-the-art performance on image inpainting across a variety of wide view shifts and has a faster inference speed than other inpainting models.

Class-Aware Contrastive Semi-Supervised Learning

Pseudo-label-based semi-supervised learning (SSL) has achieved great success on raw data utilization. However, its training procedure suffers from confirmation bias due to the noise contained in self-generated artificial labels. Moreover, the model's judgment becomes noisier in real-world applications with extensive out-of-distribution data. To address this issue, we propose a general method named Class-aware Contrastive Semi-Supervised Learning (CCSSL), which is a drop-in helper to improve the pseudo-label quality and enhance the model's robustness in the real-world setting. Rather than treating real-world data as a union set, our method separately handles reliable in-distribution data with class-wise clustering for blending into downstream tasks and noisy out-of-distribution data with image-wise contrastive for better generalization. Furthermore, by applying target re-weighting, we successfully emphasize clean label learning and simultaneously reduce noisy label learning. Despite its simplicity, our proposed CCSSL has significant performance improvements over the state-of-the-art SSL methods on the standard datasets CIFAR100 and STL10. On the real-world dataset Semi-iNat 2021, we improve FixMatch by 9.80% and CoMatch by 3.18%. Code is available https://github.com/TencentYoutuResearch/Classification-SemiCLS.

$B_c \to J/ψ$ helicity form factors and the $B_c^+ \to J/ψ+(P, V, \ell^+ ν_\ell)$ decays

In this paper, we calculate the $B_c\to J/ψ$ helicity form factors (HFFs) up to twist-4 accuracy by using the light-cone sum rules (LCSR) approach. After extrapolating those HFFs to the physically allowable $q^2$ region, we investigate the $B^+_c$-meson two-body decays and semi-leptonic decays $B_c^+ \to J/ψ+(P, V, \ell^+ ν_\ell)$ with $P/V$ stands for light pseudoscalar/vector meson, respectively. The branching fractions can be derived by using the CKM matrix element and the $B_c$ lifetime from the Particle Data Group, and we obtain ${\cal B}(B_c^+ \to J/ψπ^+)=(0.136^{+0.002}_{-0.002})\%$, ${\cal B}(B_c^+ \to J/ψK^+)=(0.010^{+0.000}_{-0.000})\%$, ${\cal B}(B_c^+ \to J/ψρ^+) =(0.768^{+0.029}_{-0.033})\%$, ${\cal B}(B_c^+ \to J/ψK^{\ast +})=(0.043^{+0.001}_{-0.001})\%$, ${\cal B}(B_c^+ \to J/ψμ^+ν_μ)=(2.802^{+0.526}_{-0.675})\%$ and ${\cal B}(B_c^+ \to J/ψτ^+ν_τ)=(0.559^{+0.131}_{-0.170})\%$. We then obtain ${\cal R}_{π^+/μ^+ν_μ} = 0.048^{+ 0.009}_{-0.012}$ and ${\cal R}_{K^+ / π^+} = 0.075^{+0.005}_{-0.005}$, which agree with the LHCb measured value within $1σ$-error. We also obtain ${\cal R}_{J/ψ}=0.199^{+ 0.060}_{-0.077}$, which like other theoretical predictions, is consistent with the LHCb measured value within $2σ$-error. Those imply that the HFFs under the LCSR approach are also applicable to the $B^+_c$ meson two-body decays and semi-leptonic decays $B_c^+ \to J/ψ+(P, V, \ell^+ ν_\ell)$, and the HFFs obtained by using LCSR in a new way implies that there may be new physics in the $B_c\to J/ψ\ell^+ ν_\ell$ semi-leptonic decays.

The ratio $\mathcal{R}(D_s)$ for $B_s \to D_s \ellν_\ell$ by using the QCD light-cone sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective field theory

In the paper, we study the $B_s\to D_s$ transition form factors by using the light-cone sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective field theory. We adopt a chiral current correlation function to do the calculation, the resultant transition form factors $f_+^{B_s\to D_s}(q^2)$ and $f_0^{B_s\to D_s}(q^2)$ are dominated by the contribution of $D_s$-meson leading-twist distribution amplitude, while the contributions from less certain $D_s$-meson twist-3 distribution amplitudes are greatly suppressed. At the largest recoil point, we obtain $f_{+,0}^{B_s \to D_s}(0)=0.533^{+0.112}_{-0.094}$. By further extrapolating the transition form factors into all the physically allowable $q^2$ region with the help of the $z$-series parametrization approach, we calculate the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(B_s \to D_s \ell^\prime ν_{\ell^\prime})$ with $(\ell^\prime= e,μ)$ and $\mathcal{B}(B_s \to D_s τν_τ)$, which gives $\mathcal{R}(D_s)=0.334\pm 0.017$.

$η^{(\prime)}$-meson twist-2 distribution amplitude within QCD sum rule approach and its application to the semi-leptonic decay $ D_s^+ \toη^{(\prime)}\ell^+ ν_\ell$

In this paper, we make a detailed discussion on the $η$ and $η'$-meson leading-twist light-cone distribution amplitude $ϕ_{2;η^{(\prime)}}(u,μ)$ by using QCD sum rules approach under the background field theory. Taking both the non-perturbative condensates up to dimension-six and NLO QCD corrections to the perturbative part, its first three moments $\langleξ^n_{2;η^{(\prime)}}\rangle|_{μ_0} $ with $n = (2,4,6)$ at initial scale $μ_0 = 1$ GeV can be determined. e.g. $\langleξ_{2;η}^2\rangle|_{μ_0} =0.231_{-0.013}^{+0.010}$, $\langleξ_{2;η}^4 \rangle|_{μ_0} =0.109_{-0.007}^{+0.007}$, and $\langleξ_{2;η}^6 \rangle|_{μ_0} =0.066_{-0.006}^{+0.006}$ for $η$-meson, $\langleξ_{2;η'}^2\rangle|_{μ_0} =0.211_{-0.017}^{+0.015}$, $\langleξ_{2;η'}^4 \rangle|_{μ_0} =0.093_{-0.009}^{+0.009}$, and $\langleξ_{2;η'}^6 \rangle|_{μ_0} =0.054_{-0.008}^{+0.008}$ for $η'$-meson. Next, we calculate $D_s\toη^{(\prime)}$ TFFs $f^{η^{(\prime)}}_+(q^2)$ within QCD light-cone sum rules approach up to NLO level. The values at large recoil region are $f^η_+(0) = 0.476_{-0.036}^{+0.040}$ and $f^{η'}_+(0) = 0.544_{-0.042}^{+0.046}$. After extrapolating TFFs to the allowable physical regions within the series expansion, we obtain the branching fractions of the semi-leptonic decay, i.e. $D_s^+\toη^{(\prime)}\ell^+ ν_\ell$, i.e. ${\cal B}(D_s^+\toη^{(\prime)} e^+ν_e)=2.346_{-0.331}^{+0.418}(0.792_{-0.118}^{+0.141})\times10^{-2}$ and ${\cal B}(D_s^+\toη^{(\prime)} μ^+ν_μ)=2.320_{-0.327}^{+0.413}(0.773_{-0.115}^{+0.138})\times10^{-2}$ for $\ell = (e, μ)$ channels respectively. And in addition to that, the mixing angle for $η-η'$ with $φ$ and ratio for the different decay channels ${\cal R}_{η'/η}^\ell$ are given, which show good agreement with the recent BESIII measurements.

MHD analysis on the physical designs of CFETR and HFRC

The China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) and the Huazhong Field Reversed Configuration (HFRC), currently both under intensive physical and engineering designs in China, are the two major projects representative of the low-density steady-state and high-density pulsed pathways to fusion. One of the primary tasks of the physics designs for both CFETR and HFRC is the assessment and analysis of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stability of the proposed design schemes. Comprehensive efforts on the assessment of MHD stability of CFETR and HFRC baseline scenarios have led to preliminary progresses that may further benefit engineering designs.

Revisiting the production of $J/ψ+η_c$ via the $e^+e^-$ annihilation within the QCD light-cone sum rules

We make a detailed study on the typical production channel of double charmoniums, $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+η_c$, at the center-of-mass collision energy $\sqrt{s}=10.58$ GeV. The key component of the process is the form factor $F_{\rm VP}(q^2)$, which has been calculated within the QCD light-cone sum rules (LCSR). To improve the accuracy of the derived LCSR, we keep the $J/ψ$ light-cone distribution amplitude up to twist-4 accuracy. Total cross sections for $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+η_c$ at three typical factorization scales are $σ|_{μ_s} = 22.53^{+3.46}_{-3.49}~{\rm fb}$, $σ|_{μ_k} = 21.98^{+3.35}_{-3.38}~{\rm fb}$ and $σ|_{μ_0} = 21.74^{+3.29}_{-3.33}~{\rm fb}$, respectively. The factorization scale dependence is small, and those predictions are consistent with the BABAR and Belle measurements within errors.

Branching fractions and polarizations of $D\to V(ω,ρ, K^*) \ell ν_\ell$ within QCD LCSR

In this paper, we make a detailed study about the $D\to V$ helicity form factors (HFFs) within the framework of QCD light-cone sum rule (LCSR) up to twist-4 accuracy. After extrapolating the LCSR predictions of HFFs to the whole physical $q^2$-region, we get the longitudinal, transverse and total $|V_{cq}|$-independent decay widths of semileptonic decay $D\to V\ell^+ν_\ell$. Meanwhile, the branching fractions of these decays are also obtained by using the $D^0(D^+)$-meson lifetime, which agree well with the BES-III results within errors. As a further step, we also investigate the differential and mean predictions for charged lepton (vector meson) polarization in the final state $P_{\rm L,T}^\ell$ ($F_{\rm L,T}^\ell$), the forward-backward asymmetry ${\cal A}_{\rm FB}^\ell$, and the lepton-side convexity parameters ${\cal C}_{\rm F}^\ell$. Our predictions are consistent with Covariant Confining Quark Model results within the errors. Thus, we think the LCSR approach for HFFs is applicable for dealing with the $D$-meson semileptonic decays.

$D \to P(π,K)$ helicity form factors within light-cone sum rule approach

In this paper, the $D\to P(π, K)$ helicity form factors (HFFs) are studied by applying the QCD light-cone sum rule (LCSR) approach. The calculation accuracy is up to next-to-leading order (NLO) gluon radiation correction of twist-(2,3) distribution amplitude. The resultant HFFs at large recoil point are ${\cal P}_{t,0}^π(0) = 0.688^{+0.020}_{-0.024}$, ${\cal P}_{t,0}^K(0)=0.780^{+0.024}_{-0.029}$. In which, the contributions from three particles of the leading order (LO) are so small that can be safely neglected, and the maximal contribution of the NLO gluon radiation correction for ${\cal P}_{t,0}^{π,K}(0)$ is less than $3\%$. After extrapolating the LCSR predictions for these HFFs to whole $q^2$-region, we obtain the decay widths for semileptonic decay processes $D\to P\ellν_\ell$, which are consistent with BES-III collaboration predictions within errors. After considering the $D^{+}/D^{0}$-meson lifetime, we give the branching fractions of $D\to P\ellν_\ell$ with $\ell = e, μ$, our predictions also agree with BES-III collaboration within errors, especially for $D\to π\ellν_\ell$ decay process. Finally, we present the forward-backward asymmetry ${\cal A}_{\rm FB}^\ell(q^2)$ and lepton convexity parameter ${\cal C}_F^\ell(q^2)$, and further calculate the mean value of these two observations $\langle{\cal A}_{\rm FB}^\ell\rangle$ and $\langle{\cal C}_F^\ell\rangle$, which may provide a way to test those HFFs in future experiments.

The $D\to ρ$ semileptonic and radiative decays within the light-cone sum rules

The measured branching ratio of the $D$ meson semileptonic decay $D \to ρe^+ ν_e$, which is based on the $0.82~{\rm fb^{-1}}$ CLEO data taken at the peak of $ψ(3770)$ resonance, disagrees with the traditional SVZ sum rules analysis by about three times. In the paper, we show that this discrepancy can be eliminated by applying the QCD light-cone sum rules (LCSR) approach to calculate the $D\to ρ$ transition form factors $A_{1,2}(q^2)$ and $V(q^2)$. After extrapolating the LCSR predictions of these TFFs to whole $q^2$-region, we obtain $1/|V_{\rm cd}|^2 \times Γ(D \to ρe ν_e) =(55.45^{+13.34}_{-9.41})\times 10^{-15}~{\rm GeV}$. Using the CKM matrix element and the $D^0(D^+)$ lifetime from the Particle Data Group, we obtain ${\cal B} (D^0\to ρ^- e^+ ν_e) = (1.749^{+0.421}_{-0.297}\pm 0.006)\times 10^{-3}$ and ${\cal B} (D^+ \to ρ^0 e^+ ν_e) = (2.217^{+0.534}_{-0.376}\pm 0.015)\times 10^{-3}$, which agree with the CLEO measurements within errors. We also calculate the branching ratios of the two $D$ meson radiative processes and obtain ${\cal B}(D^0\to ρ^0 γ)= (1.744^{+0.598}_{-0.704})\times 10^{-5}$ and ${\cal B}(D^+ \to ρ^+ γ) = (5.034^{+0.939}_{-0.958})\times 10^{-5}$, which also agree with the Belle measurements within errors. Thus we think the LCSR approach is applicable for dealing with the $D$ meson decays.

SpiderCNN: Deep Learning on Point Sets with Parameterized Convolutional Filters

Deep neural networks have enjoyed remarkable success for various vision tasks, however it remains challenging to apply CNNs to domains lacking a regular underlying structures such as 3D point clouds. Towards this we propose a novel convolutional architecture, termed SpiderCNN, to efficiently extract geometric features from point clouds. SpiderCNN is comprised of units called SpiderConv, which extend convolutional operations from regular grids to irregular point sets that can be embedded in R^n, by parametrizing a family of convolutional filters. We design the filter as a product of a simple step function that captures local geodesic information and a Taylor polynomial that ensures the expressiveness. SpiderCNN inherits the multi-scale hierarchical architecture from classical CNNs, which allows it to extract semantic deep features. Experiments on ModelNet40 demonstrate that SpiderCNN achieves state-of-the-art accuracy 92.4% on standard benchmarks, and shows competitive performance on segmentation task.

The longitudinal leading-twist distribution amplitude of $J/ψ$ meson within background field theory

We make a detailed study on the $J/ψ$ meson longitudinal leading-twist distribution amplitude $ϕ_{2;J/ψ}^\|$ by using the QCD sum rules within the background field theory. By keeping all the non-perturbative condensates up to dimension-six, we obtain accurate QCD sum rules for the moments $\langleξ_{n;J/ψ}^\|\rangle$. The first three ones are $\langleξ_{2;J/ψ}^\|\rangle=0.083(12)$, $\langleξ_{4;J/ψ}^\|\rangle=0.015(5)$ and $\langleξ_{6;J/ψ}^\|\rangle=0.003(2)$, leading to a single peaked behavior for $ϕ_{2;J/ψ}^\|$ which is sharper than the previous ones around the region of $x\sim0.5$. As an application, we adopt the QCD light-cone sum rules to calculate the $B_c$ meson semileptonic decay $B_c^+ \to J/ψ\ell^+ ν_\ell$. We obtain $Γ(B_c^+ \to J/ψ\ell^+ ν_\ell) = (89.67^{+24.76}_{-19.06}) \times 10^{-15}~{\rm GeV}$ and $\Re(J/ψ\ell^+ ν_\ell) = 0.217^{+0.069}_{-0.057}$, which agree with the next-to-leading order pQCD prediction and the new CDF measurement within errors.
