Quantum correlation enhanced weak field detection in optomechanical system

We propose a theoretical scheme to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio in ultrasensitive detection with the help of quantum correlation. By introducing the auxiliary oscillator and treated as an added probe for weak field detection, the additional noise can be greatly suppressed and the measurement accuracy may even break the standard quantum limit. We use the magnetic field as an example to exhibit the detection capability of our scheme. The result show that, comparing with the traditional detection protocol, our scheme can have higher signal-to-noise ratio and better detection accuracy. Furthermore, the signal intensity detection curve shows a good linearity. Our results provide a promising platform for reducing the additional noise by utilizing quantum correlation in ultrasensitive detection.

Weak measurement amplification in optomechanics via a squeezed coherent state pointer

We present a scheme for achieving amplification of the displacement of the mirror in optomechanical cavity using single-photon postselection where the mirror is initially prepared in squeezed coherent state. The amplification depends on the enhanced fluctuations of the squeezed coherent state, and it is is caused by the noncommutativity of quantum mechanics relying on the squeezed coherent state, which can not be explained by the standard weak measurement [1,25].

Precision metrology of weak measurement with thermal state pointer

Quantum metrology is being gradually studied for weak measurement systems. For weak measurement systems with thermal state pointer, we find that in the displacement space corresponding to imaginary weak values, the maximal QFI after successful postselection can attain the level of thermal fluctuations, without surpassing total QFI, and that QFI which increases with increasing temperature can constantly improve the measurement precision. These results are much better than that of weak measurement with pure state (i.e., Gaussian state) pointer. On the other hand, in Kerr nonlinear interaction systems with weak measurement, and by using thermal state pointer, we obtain in the phase space successful postselection and postselected measurements both achieve the Heisenberg limit of quantum metrology, and show weak measurement with thermal states only obtain classical Fisher information (CFI) which increases with increasing temperature and achieves classical enhanced scaling of N^2. Moreover, weak measurement with thermal states has an advantage over that with coherent states or mixed states of the light because generating these states with more large uncertainty are limited under the current technology, but thermal states with more large uncertainly are very easy to achieve with increasing temperature in nature, regardless of thermal states of the light or the matter.

Heralded entanglement of two distant quantum dot spins via optical interference

We present a proposal for heralded entanglement between two quantum dots via Hong--Ou--Mandel effect. Each of the quantum dots, drived off-resonance by two lasers, can be entangled with the coherent cavity mode. The output photons from the two coherent cavity modes interfering by a beamsplitter, we could entangle the two QDs with nearly unit success probability. Our scheme requires neither direct coupling between qubits nor the detection of single photons. Moreover the quantum dots do not need to have the same frequencies and coupling constants.

All-optical controlled phase gate in quantum dot molecules

We propose a two-qubit optically controlled phase gate in quantum dot molecules via adiabatic passage and hole tunneling. Our proposal combines the merits of the current generation of vertically stacked self-assembled InAs quantum dots and adiabatic passage. The simulation shows an implementation of the gate with a fidelity exceeding 0.98.

Generating atomic multi-dimensional entangled states under large atom-cavity detuning

We propose a scheme to deterministically generate atomic two-dimensional and three-dimensional entangled states by passing two 87Rb atoms through a high-Q bi-mode cavity alternately. The scheme is insensitive to atomic spontaneous decay because of large atom-cavity detuning, the influence of cavity decay is also discussed. Our strictly numerical simulation shows our proposal is good enough to demonstrate the generation of atomic entanglement with high fidelity and within the current experimental technologies.

Generation of three-dimensional entangled states between a single atom and a Bose-Einstein Condensate via adiabatic passage

We propose a robust scheme to prepare three-dimensional entanglement states between a single atom and a Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) via stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) techniques. The atomic spontaneous radiation, the cavity decay, and the fiber loss are efficiently suppressed by the engineering adiabatic passage. Our scheme is also robust to the variation of atom number in the BEC.

Optically controlled phase gate for two spin qubits in coupled quantum dots

We present a feasible scheme for performing an optically controlled phase gate between two conduction electron spin qubits in adjacent self assembled quantum dots. Interaction between the dots is mediated by the tunneling of the valence hole state which is activated only by applying a laser pulse of the right polarization and frequency. Combining the hole tunneling with the Pauli blocking effect, we obtain conditional dynamics for the two quantum dots, which is the essence of our gating operations. Our results are of explicit relevance to the recent generation of vertically stacked self-assembled InAs quantum dots, and show that by a design which avoids unintended dynamics the gate could be implemented in theory in the 10 ps range and with a fidelity over 90%. Our proposal therefore offers an accessible path to the demonstration of ultrafast quantum logic in quantum dots.

Generation of atomic entangled states in a bi-mode cavity via adiabatic passage

We propose schemes to prepare atomic entangled states in a bi-mode cavity via stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) and fractional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (f-STIRAP) tech- niques. According to the simulation results, our schemes keep the cavity modes almost unexcited and the atomic excited states are nearly unpopulated during the whole process. The simulation also shows that the error probability is very small.
