The hyperbolically symmetric black hole

We describe some properties of the hyperbolically symmetric black hole (hereafter referred to as the $HSBH$) proposed a few years ago. We start by explaining the main motivation behind such an idea, and we determine the main differences between this scenario and the classical black hole (hereafter referred to as the $CBH$) scenario. Particularly important are the facts that, in the $HSBH$ scenario, (i) test particles in the region inside the horizon experience a repulsive force that prevents them from reaching the center, (ii) test particles may cross the horizon outward only along the symmetry axis, and (iii) the spacetime within the horizon is static but not spherically symmetric. Next, we examine the differences between the two models of black holes in light of the Landauer principle and the Hawking results on the eventual evaporation of the black hole and the paradox resulting thereof. Finally, we explore what observational signature could be invoked to confirm or dismiss the model.

Geodesics of the hyperbolically symmetric black hole

We carry out a systematic study on the motion of test particles in the region inner to the horizon of a hyperbolically symmetric black hole. The geodesic equations are written and analyzed in detail. The obtained results are contrasted with the corresponding results obtained for the spherically symmetric case. It is found that test particles experience a repulsive force within the horizon, which prevents them to reach the center. These results are obtained for radially moving particles as well as for particles moving in the $\theta-R$ subspace. To complement our study we calculate the precession of a gyroscope moving along a circular path (non--geodesic) within the horizon. We obtain that the precession of the gyroscope is retrograde in the rotating frame, unlike the precession close to the horizon ($R=2m+\epsilon$) in the Schwarzschild spacetime, which is forward.

An alternative approach to the static spherically symmetric vacuum global solution to the Einstein's equations

We propose an alternative description of the Schwarzschild black hole based on the requirement that the solution be static not only outside the horizon but also inside it. As a consequence of this assumption, we are led to a change of signature implying a complex transformation of an angle variable. There is a "phase transition" on the surface R=2m, producing a change in the symmetry as we cross this surface. Some consequences of this situation on the motion of test particles are investigated.

Generating Solutions to the Einstein - Maxwell Equations

The Einstein-Maxwell (E-M) equations in a curved spacetime that admits at least one Killing vector are derived, from a Lagrangian density adapted to symmetries. In this context, an auxiliary space of potentials is introduced, in which, the set of potentials associated to an original (seed) solution of the E-M equations are transformed to a new set, either by continuous transformations or by discrete transformations. In this article, continuous transformations are considered. Accordingly, originating from the so-called $\gamma_A$-metric, other exact solutions to the E-M equations are recovered and discussed.

Generating Solutions to the Einstein Field Equations

Exact solutions to the Einstein field equations may be generated from already existing ones (seed solutions), that admit at least one Killing vector. In this framework, a space of potentials is introduced. By the use of symmetries in this space, the set of potentials associated to a known solution are transformed into a new set, either by continuous transformations or by discrete transformations. In view of this method, and upon consideration of continuous transformations, we arrive at some exact, stationary axisymmetric solutions to the Einstein field equations in vacuum, that may be of geometrical or/and physical interest.
