Constrained Optimization-Based Yaw-Rate Reference Map Generation for Active Rear Steering Control of Four-Wheel Steering Vehicles

The effectiveness of active rear steering (ARS) control for four-wheel steering (4WS) vehicles is widely recognized in the automotive industry. At low speeds, ARS control can enhance maneuverability by steering the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front wheels, reducing the turning radius. In contrast, at high speeds, ARS control can improve stability by steering the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels, preventing oversteer behavior. However, the performance of ARS control is often limited by the reference model used to generate the desired yaw rate, which is typically derived from a steady state of front-wheel steering (FWS) vehicle model. In this paper, we conduct a numerical analysis to construct an optimal yaw rate reference map for ARS control by formulating a constrained optimization problem. In the optimization problem, constraints are imposed to ensure that the vehicle operates within safe limits at steady state. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in providing an optimal yaw rate reference map for ARS control.

CNN-based End-to-End Adaptive Controller with Stability Guarantees

This letter proposes a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based adaptive controller wtih three notable features: 1) it determines control input directly from historical sensor data (in an end-to-end process); 2) it learns the desired control policy during real-time implementation without using a pretrained network (in an online adaptive manner); and 3) the asymptotic tracking error convergence is proven during the learning process (to deliver a stability guarantee). An adaptive law for learning the desired control policy is derived using the gradient descent optimization method, and its stability is analyzed based on the Lyapunov approach. A simulation study using a control-affine nonlinear system demonstrated that the proposed controller exhibits these features, and its performance can be tuned by manipulating the design parameters. In addition, it is shown that the proposed controller has a superior tracking performance to that of a deep neural network (DNN)-based adaptive controller.

Towards User Friendly Medication Mapping Using Entity-Boosted Two-Tower Neural Network

Recent advancements in medical entity linking have been applied in the area of scientific literature and social media data. However, with the adoption of telemedicine and conversational agents such as Alexa in healthcare settings, medical name inference has become an important task. Medication name inference is the task of mapping user friendly medication names from a free-form text to a concept in a normalized medication list. This is challenging due to the differences in the use of medical terminology from health care professionals and user conversations coming from the lay public. We begin with mapping descriptive medication phrases (DMP) to standard medication names (SMN). Given the prescriptions of each patient, we want to provide them with the flexibility of referring to the medication in their preferred ways. We approach this as a ranking problem which maps SMN to DMP by ordering the list of medications in the patient's prescription list obtained from pharmacies. Furthermore, we leveraged the output of intermediate layers and performed medication clustering. We present the Medication Inference Model (MIM) achieving state-of-the-art results. By incorporating medical entities based attention, we have obtained further improvement for ranking models.
