H\"{o}lder regularity for logarithmic double phase problems

We investigate boundedness and regularity properties of weak solutions to a class of generalized logarithmic double phase equations with variable exponents. The considered operators arise from Musielak-Orlicz type energies of logarithmic double phase type and exhibit nonstandard growth features. Under general structural assumptions, we derive a priori boundedness estimates in the subcritical setting and establish boundedness of weak solutions also in the presence of critical growth terms. In addition, we prove global H\"{o}lder continuity up to the boundary by means of the De Giorgi iteration scheme, localization arguments, and the frozen functional technique. The obtained results extend several existing regularity results for double phase and related nonstandard growth problems.

On Kirchhoff-type p(.)-Laplacian problems with sandwich-type and arbitrary growth

We establish the existence of a positive bounded weak solution for a class of Kirchhoff-type $p(\cdot)$-Laplacian problems involving an arbitrary growth and a sandwich-type growth $s(\cdot)\in (\inf p,\sup p)$. This setting leads to substantial analytical difficulties in the variational analysis of the associated energy functional. By combining truncation arguments with a priori estimates, we prove the existence result under suitable assumptions on the data.

Global boundedness for Generalized Schr\"odinger-Type Double Phase Problems in $\mathbb{R}^N$ and Applications to Supercritical Double Phase Problems

We establish two global boundedness results for weak solutions to generalized Schr\"{o}dinger-type double phase problems with variable exponents in $\mathbb{R}^N$ under new critical growth conditions optimally introduced in [26, 32]. More precisely, for the case of subcritical growth, we employ the De Giorgi iteration with a suitable localization method in $\mathbb{R}^N$ to obtain a-priori bounds. As a byproduct, we derive the decay property of weak solutions. For the case of critical growth, using the De Giorgi iteration with a localization adapted to the critical growth, we prove the global boundedness. As an interesting application of these results, the existence of weak solutions for supercritical double phase problems is shown. These results are new even for problems with constant exponents in $\mathbb{R}^N$.

Critical double phase problems involving sandwich-type nonlinearities

In this paper we study problems with critical and sandwich-type growth represented by \begin{align*} -\operatorname{div}\Big(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u + a(x)|\nabla u|^{q-2}\nabla u\Big)= \lambda w(x)|u|^{s-2}u+\theta B\left(x,u\right) \quad \text{in } \Omega,\quad u= 0 \quad\text{on } \partial \Omega, \end{align*} where $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N$ is a bounded domain with Lipschitz boundary $\partial\Omega$, $1<p<s<q<N$, $\frac{q}{p}<1+\frac{1}{N}$, $0\leq a(\cdot)\in C^{0,1}(\overline{\Omega})$, $\lambda$, $\theta$ are real parameters, $w$ is a suitable weight and $B\colon \overline{\Omega}\times \mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}$ is given by \begin{align*} B(x,t) :=b_0(x)|t|^{p^*-2}t+b(x)|t|^{q^*-2}t, \end{align*} where $r^*:=Nr/(N-r)$ for $r\in\{p,q\}$. Here the right-hand side combines the effect of a critical term given by $B(\cdot,\cdot)$ and a sandwich-type perturbation with exponent $s \in (p,q)$. Under different values of the parameters $\lambda$ and $\theta$, we prove the existence and multiplicity of solutions to the problem above. For this, we mainly exploit different variational methods combined with topological tools, like a new concentration-compactness principle, a suitable truncation argument and the Krasnoselskii's genus theory, by considering very mild assumptions on the data $a(\cdot)$, $b_0(\cdot)$ and $b(\cdot)$.

On critical double phase problems in $\mathbb{R}^N$ involving variable exponents

We establish a Lions-type concentration-compactness principle and its variant at infinity for Musielak-Orlicz-Sobolev spaces associated with a double phase operator with variable exponents. Based on these principles, we demonstrate the existence and concentration of solutions for a class of critical double phase equations of Schr\"odinger type in $\mathbb{R}^N$ involving variable exponents with various types of potentials. Our growth condition is more appropriately suited compared to the existing works.

Multiplicity results for double phase problems involving a new type of critical growth

Using variational methods, we obtain several multiplicity results for double phase problems that involve variable exponents and a new type of critical growth. This new critical growth is better suited for double phase problems when compared to previous works on the subject. In order to overcome the lack of compactness caused by the critical exponents, we establish a concentration-compactness principle of Lions type for spaces associated with double phase operators, which is of independent interest to us. Our results are new, even in the case of constant exponents.

Double phase anisotropic variational problems involving critical growth

In this paper, we investigate some existence results for double phase anisotropic variational problems involving critical growth. We first establish a Lions type concentration-compactness principle and its variant at infinity for the solution space, which are our independent interests. By employing these results, we obtain a nontrivial nonnegative solution to problems of generalized concave-convex type. We also obtain infinitely many solutions when the nonlinear term is symmetric. Our results are new even for the $p(\cdot)$-Laplace equations.

Infinitely many solutions to Kirchhoff double phase problems with variable exponents

In this work we deal with elliptic equations driven by the variable exponent double phase operator with a Kirchhoff term and a right-hand side that is just locally defined in terms of very mild assumptions. Based on an abstract critical point result of Kajikiya (2005) and recent a priori bounds for generalized double phase problems by the authors (2022), we prove the existence of a sequence of nontrivial solutions whose $L^\infty$-norms converge to zero.

New embedding results for double phase problems with variable exponents and a priori bounds for corresponding generalized double phase problems

In this paper we present new embedding results for Musielak-Orlicz Sobolev spaces of double phase type. Based on the continuous embedding of $W^{1,\mathcal{H}}(\Omega)$ into $L^{\mathcal{H}_*}(\Omega)$, where $\mathcal{H}_*$ is the Sobolev conjugate function of $\mathcal{H}$, we present much stronger embeddings as known in the literature. Based on these results, we consider generalized double phase problems involving such new type of growth with Dirichlet and nonlinear boundary condition and prove appropriate boundedness results of corresponding weak solutions based on the De Giorgi iteration along with localization arguments.

On sufficient "local" conditions for existence results to generalized $p(\cdot)$-Laplace equations involving critical growth

In this paper, we study the existence of multiple solutions to a generalized $p(\cdot)$-Laplace equation with two parameters involving critical growth. More precisely, we give sufficient "local" conditions, which mean that growths between the main operator and nonlinear term are locally assumed for the cases $p(\cdot)$-sublinear, $p(\cdot)$-superlinear, and sandwich-type. Compared to constant exponent problems (for examples, $p$-Laplacian and $(p,q)$-Laplacian), this characterizes the study of variable exponent problems. We show this by applying variants of the Mountain Pass Theorem for $p(\cdot)$-sublinear and $p(\cdot)$-superlinear cases and constructing critical values defined by a minimax argument in the genus theory for sandwich-type case. Moreover, we also obtain a nontrivial nonnegative solution for sandwich-type case changing a role of parameters. Our work is a generalization of several existing works in the literature.

The boundedness and H\"older continuity of weak solutions to elliptic equations involving variable exponents and critical growth

In this paper we prove the boundedness and H\"older continuity of quasilinear elliptic problems involving variable exponents for a homogeneous Dirichlet and a nonhomogeneous Neumann boundary condition, respectively. The novelty of our work is the fact that we allow critical growth even on the boundary and so we close the gap in the papers of Fan-Zhao [Nonlinear Anal. 36 (1999), no. 3, 295--318.] and Winkert-Zacher [Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst. Ser. S 5 (2012), no. 4, 865--878.] in which the critical cases are excluded. Our approach is based on a modified version of De Giorgi's iteration technique along with the localization method. As a consequence of our results, the $C^{1,\alpha}$-regularity follows immediately.

On a $p(\cdot)$-biharmonic problem of Kirchhoff type involving critical growth

We establish a concentration-compactness principle for the Sobolev space $W^{2,p(\cdot)}(\Omega)\cap W_0^{1,p(\cdot)}(\Omega)$ that is a tool for overcoming the lack of compactness of the critical Sobolev imbedding. Using this result we obtain several existence and multiplicity results for a class of Kirchhoff type problems involving $p(\cdot)$-biharmonic operator and critical growth.

Properties of eigenvalues and some regularities on fractional $p$-Laplacian with singular weights

We provide fundamental properties of the first eigenpair for fractional $p$-Laplacian eigenvalue problems under singular weights, which is related to Hardy type inequality, and also show that the second eigenvalue is well-defined. We obtain a-priori bounds and the continuity of solutions to problems with such singular weights with some additional assumptions. Moreover, applying the above results, we show a global bifurcation emenating from the first eigenvalue, the Fredholm alternative for non-resonant problems, and obtain the existence of infinitely many solutions for some nonlinear problems involving singular weights. These are new results, even for (fractional) Laplacian.
