A Bitopological Approach to Finite Reduction and Bounded Exact-Value Certificates for Fitting's Finite Heyting-valued Modal Logic

Fitting's finite Heyting-valued modal logic interprets modal formulas over a finite Heyting algebra. We use a relational bitopological representation to obtain a finite-state reduction. For a finite model and a finite vocabulary, the modal subalgebra generated by the atomic valuations determines a state-evaluation map. We prove that the observational quotient is isomorphic to its finite image in the bitopological dual and that the quotient relation is the restriction of the canonical dual relation. Hence every formula over the vocabulary preserves its exact truth value, and the quotient is minimal among surjective reductions through which all generated observations factor. In addition, for any formula and state, we construct a finite tree-like exact-value certificate whose depth is bounded by modal depth and whose branching depends only on the height of the truth-value algebra and the number of boxed subformulas. Failed formulas therefore admit bounded reduced counterexamples preserving their precise failure values.

CoGReV: A Confidence-Gated Post-Hoc Non-Monotonic Belief Revision Framework for Phishing Website Classification

In phishing detection, machine learning classifiers act as a first line of defense, but the false positives they produce are triaged by human analysts. The excessive false alarms cause alert fatigue that erodes human oversight. We propose CoGReV, a hybrid framework that augments standard machine learning classifiers with a post-hoc non-monotonic reasoning layer implemented in Answer Set Programming. The layer applies a confidence-gated defeasible rule that revises a phishing prediction toward legitimate only when website metadata is present and the classifier's decision is low-confidence, deferring uncertain predictions to the reasoning layer while leaving out confident decisions to the classifiers. This gating acts as a function-allocation mechanism between the classifier and the reasoning layer. Unlike an ungated rule, which reduces false positives only by discarding genuine detections and degrades phishing recall by about nine percentage points, the proposed gated rule keeps recall within 0.7 percentage points of the no-revision baseline for all classifiers while revising only 0.27 percent of decisions. By lowering false alarms, without sacrificing detection, CoGReV reduces analysts alert fatigue and integrates new domain knowledge into the reasoning layer in $\mathcal{O}(n)$ time.

Duality for Fitting's Multi-valued Modal logic via bitopology and biVietoris coalgebra

Fitting's Heyting-valued logic and Heyting-valued modal logic have already been studied from an algebraic viewpoint. In addition to algebraic axiomatizations with the completeness of Fitting's Heyting-valued logic and Heyting-valued modal logic, both topological and coalgebraic dualities have also been developed for algebras of Fitting's Heyting-valued modal logic. Bitopological methods have recently been employed to investigate duality for Fitting's Heyting-valued logic. However, the concepts of bitopology and bi-Vietoris coalgebras are conspicuously absent from the development of dualities for Fitting's many-valued modal logic. With this study, we try to bridge that gap. The main results are bitopological and coalgebraic duality for Fitting's many-valued modal logic. We develop a bitopological duality for algebras of Fitting's Heyting-valued modal logic by extending known bitopological duality for Fitting's non-modal logic. To develop coalgebraic duality, we adapt Lauridsen's bi-Vietoris construction from the category of pairwise Stone spaces to the category $PBS_{\mathcal{L}}$ of $\mathcal{L}$-valued (with $\mathcal{L}$ a bounded finite distributive lattice, i.e., a Heyting algebra) pairwise Boolean spaces by incorporating a structure map, and from this obtain the $\mathcal{L}$-biVietoris functor. Finally, we establish dual equivalence between coalgebras for the $\mathcal{L}$-biVietoris functor and algebras of Fitting's $\mathcal{L}$-valued modal logic. As a result, we conclude that Fitting's Heyting-valued modal logic is sound and complete with respect to the coalgebras of the $\mathcal{L}$-biVietoris functor. We also apply this coalgebraic approach to the bitopological duality to show the existence of cofree and final coalgebras and to establish a Hennessy-Milner property.

Coalgebraic Fuzzy geometric logic

The paper aims to develop a framework for coalgebraic fuzzy geometric logic by adding modalities to the language of fuzzy geometric logic. Using the methods of coalgebra, the modal operators are introduced in the language of fuzzy geometric logic. To define the modal operators, we introduce a notion of fuzzy-open predicate lifting. Based on coalgebras for an endofunctor $T$ on the category $\textbf{Fuzzy-Top}$ of fuzzy topological spaces and fuzzy continuous maps, we build models for the coalgebraic fuzzy geometric logic. Bisimulations for the defined models are discussed in this work.

State Complexity of Reversible Watson-Crick Automata

Reversible Watson-Crick automata introduced by Chatterjee et.al. is a reversible variant of an Watson-Crick automata. It has already been shown that the addition of DNA properties to reversible automata significantly increases the computational power of the model. In this paper, we analyze the state complexity of Reversible Watson-Crick automata with respect to non-deterministic finite automata. We show that Reversible Watson-Crick automata in spite of being reversible in nature enjoy state complexity advantage over non deterministic finite automata. The result is interesting because conversion from non deterministic to deterministic automata results in exponential blow up of the number of states and classically increase in number of heads of the automata cannot compensate for non-determinism in deterministic and reversible models.

Multi-head Watson-Crick quantum finite automata

Watson-Crick quantum finite automata were introduced by Ganguly et.al. by combining properties of DNA and Quantum automata. In this paper we introduce a multi-head version of the above automaton. We further show that the multi-head variant is computationally more powerful than one-way multi-head reversible finite automata. In fact we also show that the multi-head variant accepts a language which is not accepted by any one-way multi-head deterministic finite automata.

Two-way Nanoscale automata

In this paper, we show the all final subclass of two-way Watson-Crick automata have the same computational power as the classical two-way Watson-Crick automata. Here we compare the computational power of two-way Watson-Crick automata and two-way Quantum finite automata and we observe that two-way Watson-Crick automata can accept a language which two-way quantum finite automata cannot accept.

Belief Base Revision for Further Improvement of Unified Answer Set Programming

A belief base revision is developed. The belief base is represented using Unified Answer Set Programs which is capable of representing imprecise and uncertain information and perform nonomonotonic reasoning with them. The base revision operator is developed using Removed Set Revision strategy. The operator is characterized with respect to the postulates for base revisions operator satisfies.

Modeling Uncertainty and Imprecision in Nonmonotonic Reasoning using Fuzzy Numbers

To deal with uncertainty in reasoning, interval-valued logic has been developed. But uniform intervals cannot capture the difference in degrees of belief for different values in the interval. To salvage the problem triangular and trapezoidal fuzzy numbers are used as the set of truth values along with traditional intervals. Preorder-based truth and knowledge ordering are defined over the set of fuzzy numbers defined over $[0,1]$. Based on this enhanced set of epistemic states, an answer set framework is developed, with properly defined logical connectives. This type of framework is efficient in knowledge representation and reasoning with vague and uncertain information under nonmonotonic environment where rules may posses exceptions.

A Unified Framework for Nonmonotonic Reasoning with Vagueness and Uncertainty

An interval-valued fuzzy answer set programming paradigm is proposed for nonmonotonic reasoning with vague and uncertain information. The set of sub-intervals of $[0,1]$ is considered as truth-space. The intervals are ordered using preorder-based truth and knowledge ordering. The preorder based ordering is an enhanced version of bilattice-based ordering. The system can represent and reason with prioritized rules, rules with exceptions. An iterative method for answer set computation is proposed. The sufficient conditions for termination of iterations are identified for a class of logic programs using the notion of difference equations.

Parallel communicating one-way reversible finite automata system

In this paper, we discuss the computational power of parallel communicating finite automata system with 1-way reversible finite automaton as components. We show that unlike the multi-head one way reversible finite automata model (where we are still not sure whether it accepts all the regular languages) parallel communicating one-way reversible finite automata systems can accept all the regular languages. Moreover for every multi-head one way reversible finite automaton there exist a parallel communicating one-way reversible finite automata system which accepts the same language. We also make an interesting observation that although the components of the system are reversible the system as a whole is not reversible. On the basis of which we conjecture that parallel communicating one-way reversible finite automata systems may accept languages not accepted by multi-head one way reversible finite automata.

Categorical study for Algebras of lattice-valued logic and lattice-valued modal logic

The paper explores categorical interconnections between lattice-valued Relational systems and algebras of Fitting's lattice-valued modal logic. We define lattice-valued boolean systems, and then we study co-adjointness, adjointness of functors. As a result, we get a duality for algebras of lattice-valued logic. Following this duality results, we establish a duality for algebras of lattice-valued modal logic

Derivation languages, descriptional complexity measures and decision problems of a class of flat splicing systems

In this paper, we associate the idea of derivation languages with flat splicing systems and compare the families of derivation languages (Szilard and control languages) of these systems with the family of languages in Chomsky hierarchy. We show that the family of Szilard languages of labeled flat finite splicing systems of type $( m, n)$ (i.e., $SZLS_{n, FIN}^{m}$ ) and $REG$, $CF$ and $CS$ are incomparable. Also, it is decidable whether or not $SZ_{n, FIN}^{m}(\mathscr{LS}) \subseteq R$ and $R \subseteq SZ_{n, FIN}^{m}(\mathscr{LS})$ for any regular language $R$ and labeled flat finite splicing system $\mathscr{LS}$. Also, any non-empty regular, non-empty context-free and recursively enumerable language can be obtained as homomorphic image of Szilard language of the labeled flat finite splicing systems of type $(1, 2), (2, 2)$ and $(4, 2)$ respectively. We also introduce the idea of control languages for labeled flat finite splicing systems and show that any non-empty regular and context-free language can be obtained as a control language of labeled flat finite splicing systems of type $(1,2)$ and $(2, 2)$ respectively. At the end, we show that any recursively enumerable language can be obtained as a control language of labeled flat finite splicing systems of type $(4,2)$ when $\lambda$-labeled rules are allowed.

K+ Means : An Enhancement Over K-Means Clustering Algorithm

K-means (MacQueen, 1967) [1] is one of the simplest unsupervised learning algorithms that solve the well-known clustering problem. The procedure follows a simple and easy way to classify a given data set to a predefined, say K number of clusters. Determination of K is a difficult job and it is not known that which value of K can partition the objects as per our intuition. To overcome this problem we proposed K+ Means algorithm. This algorithm is an enhancement over K-Means algorithm.

Preorder-Based Triangle: A Modified Version of Bilattice-Based Triangle for Belief Revision in Nonmonotonic Reasoning

Bilattice-based triangle provides an elegant algebraic structure for reasoning with vague and uncertain information. But the truth and knowledge ordering of intervals in bilattice-based triangle can not handle repetitive belief revisions which is an essential characteristic of nonmonotonic reasoning. Moreover the ordering induced over the intervals by the bilattice-based triangle is not sometimes intuitive. In this work, we construct an alternative algebraic structure, namely preorder-based triangle and we formulate proper logical connectives for this. It is also demonstrated that Preorder-based triangle serves to be a better alternative to the bilattice-based triangle for reasoning in application areas, that involve nonmonotonic fuzzy reasoning with uncertain information.

2-tape 1-way Quantum Finite State Automata

1-way quantum finite state automata are reversible in nature, which greatly reduces its accepting property. In fact, the set of languages accepted by 1-way quantum finite automata is a proper subset of regular languages. We introduce 2-tape 1-way quantum finite state automaton (2T1QFA(2))which is a modified version of 1-way 2-head quantum finite state automaton(1QFA(2)). In this paper, we replace the single tape of 1-way 2-head quantum finite state automaton with two tapes. The content of the second tape is determined using a relation defined on input alphabet. The main claims of this paper are as follows: (1)We establish that 2-tape 1-way quantum finite state automaton(2T1QFA(2)) can accept all regular languages (2)A language which cannot be accepted by any multi-head deterministic finite automaton can be accepted by 2-tape 1-way quantum finite state automaton(2T1QFA(2)) .(3) Exploiting the superposition property of quantum automata we show that 2-tape 1-way quantum finite state automaton(2T1QFA(2)) can accept the language L=ww.
