Conformal bootstrap in Mellin space from GG systems

A simple scheme to express the Mellin transform of $D$-dimensional Euclidean conformal bootstrap equation is presented by relating conformal blocks to a Gauss-Grassmann (GG) system due to Gelfand-Graev, associated to conformal integrals, which, in turn, are generalised hypergeometric functions. Usefulness of the expression for obtaining bounds on the spectrum of fields is demonstrated.

Minkowski Space holography and Radon transform

We relate a free scalar field in the Minkowski spacetime with a scalar field with a certain scaling dimension on a sphere of codimension two. This is realised by first performing a Radon transform of the ``bulk" field on the Minkowski space to a field on a hyperplane identified with a de Sitter or Euclidean anti-de Sitter slice. The Radon transform is identified in turn with a scalar field obtained from a sphere of one further lower dimension through the so-called bulk reconstruction programme. We write down the Mellin modes of the bulk field as generalised hypergeometric functions using the Lee-Pomeransky method developed for evaluation of Feynman loop diagrams.

On entropy and complexity of coherent states

Consanguinity of entropy and complexity is pointed out through the example of coherent states of the group $SL(d+1,\C)$. Both are obtained from the K\"ahler potential of the underlying geometry of the sphere corresponding to the Fubini-Study metric. Entropy is shown to be equal to the K\"ahler potential written in terms of dual symplectic variables as the Guillemin potential for toric manifolds. The logarithm of complexity relating two states is shown to be equal to Calabi's diastasis function. Optimality of the Fubini-Study metric is indicated by considering its deformation.

Conformal integrals in all dimensions as GKZ hypergeometric functions and Clifford groups

Euclidean conformal integrals for an arbitrary number of points in any dimension are evaluated. Conformal transformations in the Euclidean space can be formulated as the Moebius group in terms of Clifford algebras. This is used to interpret conformal integrals as functions on the configuration space of points on the Euclidean space, solving linear differential equations, which, in turn, is related to toric GKZ systems. Explicit series solutions for the conformal integrals are obtained using toric methods as GKZ hypergeometric functions. The solutions are made symmetric under the action of permutation of the points, as expected of quantities on the configuration space of unordered points, using the monodromy-invariant unique Hermitian form. Consistency of the solutions among different number of points is shown.

Towards a categorification of scattering amplitudes

Categorification of scattering amplitudes for planar Feynman diagrams in scalar field theories with a polynomial potential is reported. Amplitudes for cubic theories are directly written down in terms of projectives of hearts of intermediate $t$-structures restricted to the cluster category of quiver representations, without recourse to geometry. It is shown that for theories with $\phi^{m+2}$ potentials those corresponding to $m$-cluster categories are to be used. The case of generic polynomial potentials is treated and our results suggest the existence of a generalization of higher cluster categories which we call pseudo-periodic categories. An algorithm to obtain the projectives of hearts of intermediate $t$-structures for these types is presented.

Conformal Integrals in four dimensions

We obtain analytic expressions of four-dimensional Euclidean $N$-point conformal integrals for arbitrary $N$ by solving a Lauricella-like system of differential equations derived earlier. We demonstrate their relation to the GKZ A-hypergeometric systems. The conformal integrals are solutions to these expressed in terms of leg factors and infinite series in the conformal invariant cross ratios.

Learning scattering amplitudes by heart

The canonical forms associated to scattering amplitudes of planar Feynman diagrams are interpreted in terms of masses of projectives, defined as the modulus of their central charges, in the hearts of certain $t$-structures of derived categories of quiver representations and, equivalently, in terms of cluster tilting objects of the corresponding cluster categories.

Conformal Correlation functions in four dimensions from Quaternionic Lauricella system

Correlation functions in Euclidean conformal field theories in four dimensions are expressed as representations of the conformal group $SL(2,\H)$, $\H$ being the field of quaternions, on the configuration space of points. The representations are obtained in terms of Lauricella system for quaternions. It generalizes the two-dimensional case, wherein the $N$-point correlation function is expressed in terms of solutions of Lauricella system on the configuration space of $N$ points on the complex plane, furnishing representation of the conformal group $SL(2,\C)$.

Holography in de Sitter and anti-de Sitter Spaces and Gel'fand Graev Radon transform

Bulk reconstruction formulas similar to HKLL are obtained for de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spaces as the inverse Gel'fand Graev Radon transform. While these generalize our previous result on the Euclidean anti-de Sitter space, their validity in here is restricted only to odd dimensions in both instances. The exact Wightman function for the de Sitter space is then derived analytically. The GGR transform fixes the coefficient of the Wightman function. For the anti-de Sitter space it is shown that a reconstruction formula exists for the case of time-like boundary as well. The restriction on the domain of integration on the boundary is derived. As a special case, we point out that the formula is valid for the BTZ black hole as well.

Holography on local fields via Radon Transform

We define Radon transform and its inverse on the two-dimensional anti-de Sitter space over local fields using a novel construction through a quadratic equation over the local field. We show that the holographic bulk reconstruction of quantum fields in this space can be formulated as the inverse Radon transform, generalizing the case over the reals, studied earlier.

Determination of many-electron basis functions for a Quantum Hall ground state using Schur polynomials

A method for determining the ground state of a planar interacting many-electron system in a magnetic field perpendicular to the plane is described. The ground state wave-function is expressed as a linear combination of a set of basis functions. Given only the flux and the number of electrons describing an incompressible state, we use the combinatorics of partitioning the flux among the electrons to derive the basis wave-functions as linear combinations of Schur polynomials. The procedure ensures that the basis wave-functions form representations of the angular momentum algebra. We exemplify the method by deriving the basis functions for the 5/2 quantum Hall state with a few particles.

Bulk reconstruction in AdS and Gel'fand-Graev-Radon Transform

The bulk reconstruction formula for a Euclidean anti-de Sitter space is directly related to the inverse of the Gel'fand-Graev-Radon transform. Correlation functions of a conformal scalar field theory in the boundary are thereby related to correlation functions of a self-interacting scalar field theory in the bulk at different loop orders.

Green's function on lattices

A method to calculate exact Green's functions on lattices in various dimensions is presented. Expressions in terms of generalized hypergeometric functions in one or more variables are obtained for various examples by relating the resolvent to a contour integral, evaluated using residues. Different ways of arranging the series leads to different combinations of hypergeometric functions providing identities involving generalized hypergeometric functions. The method is shown to be useful for computing Green's functions with next-nearest neighbor hopping as well.

Topology behind topological insulators

In this paper topological $K$-group calculations for fiber bundles with structure group $SO(3)$ over tori are carried out to explain why topological insulators have special conducting points on their surface but are bulk insulators. It is shown that these special points are gap-less and conducting for topological reasons and follow from the $K$-group calculations. The existence of gap-less surface points is established with the help of an additional topological property of the $K$-groups which relates them to the index theorem of an operator. The index theorem relates zeros of operators to topology. For the topological insulator the relevant operator is a Dirac operator, that emerges in the problem because the system has strong spin-orbit interactions and time-reversal invariance. Calculating $K$-groups over tori require some special topological tools that are are not widely known. These are explained. We then show that the actual calculation of $K$-groups over tori becomes straightforward once a few topological results are in place. Since condensed matter systems with periodic lattices, are always bundles over tori the procedures described is of general interest.

Beta-gamma system, pure spinors and Hilbert series of arc spaces

Algorithms are presented for calculating the partition function of constrained beta-gamma systems in terms of the generating functions of the individual fields of the theory, the latter obtained as the Hilbert series of the arc space of the algebraic variety defined by the constraint. Examples of a beta-gamma system on a complex surface with an $A_1$ singularity and pure spinors are worked out and compared with existing results.

Partition function of beta-gamma system on orbifolds

Partition function of beta-gamma systems on the orbifolds C^2/Z_N and C^3/Z_M x Z_N are obtained as the invariant part of that on the respective affine spaces, by lifting the geometric action of the orbifold group to the fields. Interpreting the sum over roots of unity as an elementary contour integration, the partition function evaluates to an infinite series counting invariant monomials composed of basic operators of the theory at each mass level.

Scale invariance and superfluid turbulence

We construct a Schroedinger field theory invariant under local spatial scaling. It is shown to provide an effective theory of superfluid turbulence by deriving, analytically, the observed Kolmogorov 5/3 law and to lead to a Biot-Savart interaction between the observed filament excitations of the system as well.

An Algebraic Geometry Method for Calculating DOS for 2D tight binding models

An algebraic geometry method is used to calculate the moments of the electron density of states as a function of the energy for lattices in the tight binding approximation. Interpreting the moments as the Mellin transform of the density allows writing down a formula for the density as an inverse Mellin transform. The method is illustrated by working out the density function for the two-dimensional square and honeycomb lattices.
