Concentration and fluctuations of sine-Gordon measure around topological multi-soliton manifold

We study the sine-Gordon measure defined on each homotopy class. The energy space decomposes into infinitely many such classes indexed by the topological degree $Q \in \mathbf{Z}$. Even though the sine-Gordon action admits no minimizer in homotopy classes with $|Q| \ge 2$, we prove that the Gibbs measure on each class nevertheless concentrates and exhibits Ornstein-Uhlenbeck fluctuations near the multi-soliton manifold in the joint low-temperature and infinite-volume limit. Moreover, we show that soliton collisions are unlikely events, so that typical states consist of solitons separated at an appropriate scale. Finally, we identify the joint distribution of the multi-soliton centers as the ordered statistics of independent uniform random variables, so that each soliton's location follows a Beta distribution.

Polynomial mixing for the stochastic Schrödinger equation with large damping in the whole space

We study the long-time mixing behavior of the stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equation in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\le 3$. It is well known that, under a sufficiently strong damping force, the system admits unique ergodicity, although the rate of convergence toward equilibrium has remained unknown. In this work, we address the mixing property in the regime of large damping and establish that solutions are attracted toward the unique invariant probability measure at polynomial rates of arbitrary order. Our approach is based on a coupling strategy with pathwise Strichartz estimates.

Large deviation principles for the Gross Pitaevskii Gibbs measure at low temperature

We prove the large deviation principle for the conditional Gibbs measure associated with the focusing Gross Pitaevskii equation in the low temperature regime. This conditional measure is of mixed type, being canonical in energy and microcanonical in particle number. In particular, our result extends the large deviation principle for the mixed ensemble studied by Ellis, Jordan, Otto, and Turkington to a more singular setting, where the interaction potential is unbounded and the conditional event involves diverging renormalization constants. As a consequence of the large deviation principle, the Gibbs measure concentrates along the soliton manifold in the low temperature limit.

Sharp phase transition in the grand canonical $Φ^3$ measure at critical chemical potential

We study the phase transition and critical phenomenon for the grand canonical $Φ^3$ measure in two-dimensional Euclidean quantum field theory. The study of this measure was initiated by Jaffe, Bourgain, and Carlen--Fröhlich--Lebowitz, primarily in regimes far from criticality. We identify a critical chemical potential and show that the measure exhibits a sharp phase transition at this critical threshold. At the critical threshold, the analysis is based on establishing the correlation decay of the Gaussian fluctuations in the partition function, combined with a coarse-graining argument to show divergence of the maximum of an approximating Gaussian process.

Large deviations and free energy of Gibbs measure for the dynamical $Φ^3$-model in infinite volume

We study the large deviations for focusing Gibbs measures by analyzing the asymptotic behavior of the free energy in the infinite volume limit. This is the invariant Gibbs measure for the dynamical $Φ^3_2$-models. From our sharp estimates for the partition function, we establish a concentration phenomenon of the $Φ^3_2$-measure around the zero field, leading to a triviality result in the infinite volume: the ensemble collapses onto a delta function on the zero field.

Central limit theorem for the focusing $Φ^4$-measure in the infinite volume limit

We study the fluctuations of the focusing $Φ^4$-measure on the one-dimensional torus in the infinite volume limit. This measure is an invariant Gibbs measure for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. It had previously been shown by B. Rider that the measure is strongly concentrated around a family of minimizers of the Hamiltonian associated with the measure. These exhibit increasingly sharp spatial concentration, resulting in a trivial limit to first order. We study the fluctuations around this soliton manifold. We show that the scaled field under the Gibbs measure converges to white noise in the limit, identifying the next order fluctuations predicted by B. Rider.

Phase transition of singular Gibbs measures for three-dimensional Schrödinger-wave system

We study singular Gibbs measures for the three-dimensional Schrödinger-wave system, also known as the Yukawa system. Our primary result is the phase transition between weak and strong coupling cases, a phenomenon absent in one- and two-dimensional cases. Therefore, the three-dimensional model turns out to be critical, exhibiting the phase transition. In the weak coupling case, the Gibbs measure can be normalized as a probability measure and is shown to be singular with respect to the Gaussian free field. Conversely, in the strong coupling case, the Gibbs measure cannot be constructed as a probability measure. In particular, the finite-dimensional truncated Gibbs measures have no weak limit in an appropriate space, even up to a subsequence.

A remark on Gibbs measures with log-correlated Gaussian fields

We study Gibbs measures with log-correlated base Gaussian fields on the $d$-dimensional torus. In the defocusing case, the construction of such Gibbs measures follows from Nelson's argument. In this paper, we consider the focusing case with a quartic interaction. Using the variational formulation, we prove non-normalizability of the Gibbs measure. When $d = 2$, our argument provides an alternative proof of the non-normalizability result for the focusing $Φ^4_2$-measure by Brydges and Slade (1996). Furthermore, we provide a precise rate of divergence, where the constant is characterized by the optimal constant for a certain Bernstein's inequality on $\mathbb{R}^d$. We also go over the construction of the focusing Gibbs measure with a cubic interaction. In the appendices, we present (a) non-normalizability of the Gibbs measure for the two-dimensional Zakharov system and (b) the construction of focusing quartic Gibbs measures with smoother base Gaussian measures, showing a critical nature of the log-correlated Gibbs measure with a focusing quartic interaction.

Low temperature expansion for the Euclidean $Φ^4_2$-measure

We study asymptotic expansions of the Euclidean $Φ^4_2$-measure in the low-temperature regime. In particular, this extends the asymptotic expansions of Gaussian function space integrals developed in Schilder (1966) and Ellis and Rosen (1982) to the singular setting, where the field is no longer a function, but just a distribution. As a consequence, we deduce limit theorems, specifically the law of large numbers and the central limit theorem for the $Φ^4_2$-measure in the low-temperature limit.

Invariant Gibbs dynamics for the two-dimensional Zakharov-Yukawa system

We study the Gibbs dynamics for the Zakharov-Yukawa system on the two-dimensional torus $\mathbb{T}^2$, namely a Schrödinger-wave system with a Zakharov-type coupling $(-Δ)^γ$. We first construct the Gibbs measure in the weakly nonlinear coupling case ($0 \leq γ<1$). Combined with the non-construction of the Gibbs measure in the strongly nonlinear coupling case ($γ=1$) by Oh, Tolomeo, and the author (2020), this exhibits a phase transition at $γ= 1$. We also study the dynamical problem and prove almost sure global well-posedness of the Zakharov-Yukawa system and invariance of the Gibbs measure under the resulting dynamics for the range $ 0 \leq γ< \frac 13$. In this dynamical part, the main step is to prove local well-posedness. Our argument is based on the first order expansion and the operator norm approach via the random matrix/tensor estimate from a recent work Deng, Nahmod, and Yue (2020). In the appendix, we briefly discuss the Hilbert-Schmidt norm approach and compare it with the operator norm approach.

Lecture notes on tree-free regularity structures

These lecture notes are intended as reader's digest of recent work on a diagram-free approach to the renormalized centered model in Hairer's regularity structures. More precisely, it is about the stochastic estimates of the centered model, based on Malliavin calculus and a spectral gap assumption. We focus on a specific parabolic partial differential equation in quasi-linear form driven by (white) noise. We follow a natural renormalization strategy based on preserving symmetries, and carefully introduce Hairer's notion of a centered model, which provides the coefficients in a formal series expansion of a general solution. We explain how the Malliavin derivative in conjunction with Hairer's re-expansion map allows to reformulate this definition in a way that is stable under removing the small-scale regularization. A few exemplary proofs are provided, both of analytic and of algebraic character. The working horse of the analytic arguments is an ``annealed'' Schauder estimate and related Liouville principle, which is provided. The algebra of formal power series, in variables that play the role of coordinates of the solution manifold, and its algebra morphisms are the key algebraic objects.

Exponential ergodicity for the stochastic hyperbolic sine-Gordon equation on the circle

In this paper, we show that the Gibbs measure of the stochastic hyperbolic sine-Gordon equation on the circle is the unique invariant measure for the Markov process. Moreover, the Markov transition probabilities converge exponentially fast to the unique invariant measure in a type of 1-Wasserstein distance. The main difficulty comes from the fact that the hyperbolic dynamics does not satisfy the strong Feller property even if sufficiently many directions in a phase space are forced by the space-time white noise forcing. We instead establish that solutions give rise to a Markov process whose transition semigroup satisfies the asymptotic strong Feller property and convergence to equilibrium in a type of Wasserstein distance.

Focusing Gibbs measures with harmonic potential

In this paper, we study the Gibbs measures associated to the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation with harmonic potential on Euclidean spaces. We establish a dichotomy for normalizability vs non-normalizability in the one dimensional case, and under radial assumption in the higher dimensional cases. In particular, we complete the programs of constructing Gibbs measures in the presence of a harmonic potential initiated by Burq-Thomann-Tzvetkov (2005) in dimension one and Deng (2013) in dimension two with radial assumption.

Transport of Gaussian measures under the flow of one-dimensional fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equations

We study the transport property of Gaussian measures on Sobolev spaces of periodic functions under the dynamics of the one-dimensional cubic fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equation. For the case of second-order dispersion or greater, we establish an optimal regularity result for the quasi-invariance of these Gaussian measures, following the approach by Debussche and Tsutsumi [15]. Moreover, we obtain an explicit formula for the Radon-Nikodym derivative and, as a corollary, a formula for the two-point function arising in wave turbulence theory. We also obtain improved regularity results in the weakly dispersive case, extending those in [20]. Our proof combines the approach introduced by Planchon, Tzvetkov and Visciglia [47] and that of Debussche and Tsutsumi [15].

Well-Posedness and Ill-Posedness for the Fourth order cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation in negative Sobolev spaces

We consider the Cauchy problem for the fourth order cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation (4NLS). The main goal of this paper is to prove low regularity well-posedness and mild ill-posedness for (4NLS). We prove three results. First, we show that (4NLS) is locally well-posed in $H^s\left(\mathbb{R}\right), s\geq -\frac{1}{2}$ using the Fourier restriction norm method. Second, we show that (4NLS) is globally well-posed in $H^s\left(\mathbb{R}\right),s\geq -\frac{1}{2}$. To prove this, we use the $I$-method with the correction term strategy presented in Colliander-Keel-Staffilani-Takaoka-Tao [7]. Finally, we prove that (4NLS) is mildly ill-posed in the sense that the flow map fails to be locally uniformly continuous in $H^s(\mathbb{R}), s<-\frac{1}{2}$. Therefore, these results show that $s=-\frac{1}{2}$ is the sharp regularity threshold for which the well-posedness problem can be dealt with an iteration argument.

Quasi-invariant Gaussian measures for the cubic fourth order nonlinear Schrödinger equation in negative Sobolev spaces

We continue the study on the transport properties of the Gaussian measures on Sobolev spaces under the dynamics of the cubic fourth order nonlinear Schrödinger equation. By considering the renormalized equation, we extend the quasi-invariance results in [30, 27] to Sobolev spaces of negative regularity. Our proof combines the approach introduced by Planchon, Tzvetkov, and Visciglia [35] with the normal form approach in [30, 27].

Low regularity a priori estimates for the fourth order cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation

We consider the low regularity behavior of the fourth order cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation (4NLS) \begin{align*} \begin{cases} i\partial_tu+\partial_x^4u=\pm \vert u \vert^2u, \quad(t,x)\in \mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}\\ u(x,0)=u_0(x)\in H^s\left(\mathbb{R}\right). \end{cases} \end{align*} In arXiv:1911.03253, the author showed that this equation is globally well-posed in $H^s, s\geq -\frac{1}{2}$ and ill-posedness in the sense that the solution map fails to be uniformly continuous for $-\frac{15}{14}<s<-\frac{1}{2}$. Therefore, $s=-\frac{1}{2}$ is the lowest regularity that can be handled by the contraction argument. In spite of this ill-posedness result, we obtain a priori bound below $s<-1/2$. This a priori estimate guarantees the existence of a weak solution for $-3/4<s<-1/2$. But we cannot establish full well-posedness because of the lack of energy estimate of differences of solutions. Our method is inspired by Koch-Tataru \cite{KT2007}. We use the $U^p$ and $V^p$ based spaces adapted to frequency dependent time intervals on which the nonlinear evolution can be still described by linear dynamics.
