Path-by-path regularization by noise for scalar conservation laws

We prove a path-by-path regularization by noise result for scalar conservation laws. In particular, this proves regularizing properties for scalar conservation laws driven by fractional Brownian motion and generalizes the respective results obtained in [Gess, Souganidis; Comm. Pure Appl. Math. (2017)]. In addition, we introduce a new path-by-path scaling property which is shown to be sufficient to imply regularizing effects.

An invariance principle for the two-dimensional parabolic Anderson model with small potential

We prove an invariance principle for the two-dimensional lattice parabolic Anderson model with small potential. As applications we deduce a Donsker type convergence result for a discrete random polymer measure, as well as a universality result for the spectrum of discrete random Schr\"odinger operators on large boxes with small potentials. Our proof is based on paracontrolled distributions and some basic results for multiple stochastic integrals of discrete martingales.

The continuous Anderson hamiltonian in dimension two

We define the Anderson hamiltonian on the two dimensional torus $\mathbb R^2/\mathbb Z^2$. This operator is formally defined as $\mathscr H:= -\Delta + \xi$ where $\Delta$ is the Laplacian operator and where $\xi$ belongs to a general class of singular potential which includes the Gaussian white noise distribution. We use the notion of paracontrolled distribution as introduced by Gubinelli, Imkeller and Perkowski in [14]. We are able to define the Schr\"odinger operator $\mathscr H$ as an unbounded self-adjoint operator on $L^2(\mathbb T^2)$ and we prove that its real spectrum is discrete with no accumulation points for a general class of singular potential $\xi$. We also establish that the spectrum is a continuous function of a sort of enhancement $\Xi(\xi)$ of the potential $\xi$. As an application, we prove that a correctly renormalized smooth approximations $\mathscr H_\varepsilon:= -\Delta + \xi_\varepsilon+c_\varepsilon$ (where $\xi_\varepsilon$ is a smooth mollification of the Gaussian white noise $\xi$ and $c_\varepsilon$ an explicit diverging renormalization constant) converge in the sense of the resolvent towards the singular operator $\mathscr H$. In the case of a Gaussian white noise $\xi$, we obtain exponential tail bounds for the minimal eigenvalue (sometimes called ground state) of the operator $\mathscr H$ as well as its order of magnitude $\log L$ when the operator is considered on a large box $\mathbb T_L:= \mathbb R^2/(L\mathbb Z)^2$ with $L\to \infty$.

Multidimensional SDEs with singular drift and universal construction of the polymer measure with white noise potential

We study existence and uniqueness of solution for stochastic differential equations with distributional drift by giving a meaning to the Stroock-Varadhan martingale problem associated such equations. The approach we exploit is the one of paracontrolled distributions introduced in [13]. As a result we make sense of the three dimensional polymer measure with white noise potential.

Nonlinear PDEs with modulated dispersion II: Korteweg-de Vries equation

(Due to the limit on the number of characters for an abstract set by arXiv, the full abstract can not be displayed here. See the abstract in the paper.) We study dispersive equations with a time non-homogeneous modulation acting on the linear dispersion term. As primary models, we consider the Korteweg-de Vries equation (KdV) and related equations such as the Benjamin-Ono equation (BO) and the intermediate long wave equation (ILW), imposing certain irregularity conditions on the time non-homogeneous modulation. In this work, we establish phenomena called regularization by noise in three-folds: (i) When the modulation is sufficiently irregular, we show that the modulated KdV on both the circle and the real line is locally well-posed in the regime where the (unmodulated) KdV equation is known to be ill-posed. In particular, given any $s \in \mathbb R$, we show that the modulated KdV on the circle with a sufficiently irregular modulation is locally well-posed in $H^s(\mathbb T)$. Moreover, by adapting the $I$-method to the current modulated setting, we prove global well-posedness of the modulated KdV in negative Sobolev spaces. (ii) It is known that certain (semilinear) dispersive equations such as BO and ILW exhibit quasilinear nature. We show that sufficiently irregular modulations make the modulated versions of these equations semilinear by establishing their local well-posedness by a contraction argument, providing local Lipschitz continuity of the solution map. (iii) We also prove nonlinear smoothing for these modulated equations, where we show that a gain of regularity of the nonlinear part becomes (arbitrarily) larger for more irregular modulations. As applications of our approach, we also include further examples.

Skorohod and Stratonovich integration in the plane

This article gives an account on various aspects of stochastic calculus in the plane. Specifically, our aim is 3-fold: (i) Derive a pathwise change of variable formula for a path indexed by a square, satisfying some Hölder regularity conditions with a Hölder exponent greater than 1/3. (ii) Get some Skorohod change of variable formulas for a large class of Gaussian processes defined on the suqare. (iii) Compare the bidimensional integrals obtained with those two methods, computing explicit correction terms whenever possible. As a byproduct, we also give explicit forms of corrections in the respective change of variable formulas.
