The indicator diagram theory for maximal type entire functions and the characterization of analytic continuability

We extend P\'olya's indicator diagram theory to encompass entire functions of order at most 1, allowing functions of maximal type. To do so, we introduce an extension of the complex plane in which indicator diagrams may be unbounded or even purely infinite. In this framework, we establish the Laplace and inverse Laplace transforms, and prove an analog of P\'olya's theorem. As an application, we extend a characterization of the analytic continuability of power series. The resulting theory is illustrated by a range of classical examples of special functions.

A general identity for umbral operators and a special subclass

We prove a new universal identity for umbral operators. This motivates the definition of a subclass satisfying a simplified identity, which we fully characterize. The results are illustrated with common examples of the theory of umbral calculus.

On formulas and fractional exponents for umbral operators

We present a new formula for umbral operators that yields three main insights. First, it makes explicit a connection between umbral calculus and iteration theory. Second, it leads naturally to a definition of fractional exponents of umbral operators. Third, its proof synthesizes a broad range of existing results in operational calculus and highlights their combined effectiveness. As an illustration, we obtain a new and natural extension of the Laguerre polynomials.

Explicit Expressions for Iterates of Power Series

In this paper, we present several formulas for both the discrete and fractional iterates of an invertible power series $f$, using a new unifying approach based on umbral calculus. Known formulas are extended, and their proofs simplified, while new expressions are introduced. In particular, by employing $q$-calculus identities, we eliminate the requirement for $f'(0)$ to equal $1$ and the resulting general expressions for the iterative logarithm are obtained as well.

Operational Umbral Calculus

In this paper, we investigate the power of nearly purely operational techniques in the study of umbral calculus. We present a concise reconstruction of the theory based on a systematic use of linear operators, with particular attention to umbral operators. We also give an in-depth study of the generating functions associated to umbral calculus, and show how these lead to short proofs of several advanced results, including the Lagrange-B\"urmann inversion theorem. Finally, we discuss pseudoinverses for delta operators and illustrate our methods with a variety of examples.

Old and new powerful tools for the normal ordering problem and noncommutative binomials

In this paper, we derive formal general formulas for noncommutative exponentiation and the exponential function, while also revisiting an unrecognized, and yet powerful theorem. These tools are subsequently applied to derive counterparts for the exponential identity $e^{A+B} = e^A e^B$ and the binomial theorem $(A+B)^n = \sum \binom{n}{k} A^k B^{n-k}$ when the commutator $[B, A]$ is either an arbitrary quadratic polynomial or a monomial in $A$ or $B$. Analogous formulas are found when the commutator is bivariate. Furthermore, we introduce a novel operator bridging between the normal and antinormal ordered forms.
