Qwen-Music Technical Report

We introduce Qwen-Music, a music generation model that produces high-fidelity songs with complete vocals. It supports text-to-music generation from descriptions, lyrics, and musical attributes, and cover song generation with different styles and vocal characteristics. Qwen-Music comprises three components: Qwen-Music-Tokenizer, Qwen-Music-LLM, and Qwen-Music-Render. The tokenizer compresses audio into a 25 Hz single-codebook stream of Music Semantic Tokens that preserve semantic and melodic information. The LLM performs autoregressive modeling with a melody-token-based chain-of-thought (Melody-CoT) mechanism that plans melodies before full-song generation, improving musicality, structural coherence, and reference-melody preservation. The renderer enriches discrete semantic tokens with acoustic details to produce high-fidelity stereo waveforms. We train the LLM using a quality-aware pre-training curriculum followed by progressive post-training with supervised initialization, offline DPO, and online GSPO to improve musicality and instruction following. On 600 evaluation inputs, Qwen-Music achieves state-of-the-art results in 13 of 16 objective musicality and audio-quality metrics. Professional evaluators also prefer Qwen-Music over leading proprietary systems. For cover generation, Qwen-Music preserves reference melodies more accurately than Suno V5.5, Suno V5, and MiniMax Cover on the AI-generated reference set, and outperforms MiniMax Cover on most metrics on the real-world popular-song reference set.

DuoTok: Source-Aware Dual-Track Music Tokenization for Vocal-Accompaniment Generation

Multi-track music generation requires tokens that preserve acoustic fidelity, support sequence modeling, and maintain cross-track structure. Reconstruction-oriented codecs retain acoustic detail but are difficult to model, while semantic tokenizers may sacrifice fidelity or cross-track alignment. We present DuoTok, a source-aware dual-track music tokenizer for vocal-accompaniment generation based on staged disentanglement. DuoTok first learns a semantic audio representation through self-supervised pretraining, then shapes source-aware structure using feature replacement noise and multi-task supervision: spectral reconstruction, music source separation regularization, and an ASR head for lyric alignment. It freezes the encoder and learns hard-routed codebooks for vocals and accompaniment, while a diffusion decoder restores fine acoustic detail from discrete tokens. Across public benchmarks, DuoTok achieves a favorable predictability-fidelity trade-off at ultra-low bitrate. Under held-constant dual-track language modeling, it improves both unconditional vocal-accompaniment modeling and vocal-conditioned accompaniment prediction. Controlled diagnostics show larger predictability costs under cross-track corruption and greater gains from longer temporal context, supporting stronger use of cross-track and temporal structure rather than merely easier local prediction. DuoTok also maintains competitive reconstruction quality and preserves control-relevant musical attributes in its discrete space. These results suggest that tokenizer design is a core modeling problem for multi-track music generation, beyond compression alone.

Fourier is Frontier: Frequency-Aware Autoencoding for High-Fidelity Music Reconstruction

Continuous-latent audio autoencoders form the backbone of latent music generators, yet decoders at high compression rates commonly exhibit three failure modes: high-frequency loss, phase incoherence, and stereo-image collapse. These share a structural root: waveform autoencoders lack an explicit frequency axis, leaving no handle for targeted per-band correction. Among five matched-budget representations, the complex STFT achieves the lowest full-band and high-frequency spectral distances, providing direct access to magnitude and phase at every bin. Building on this, we present ear-VAE2, a complex-spectral autoencoder with cross-channel interaction. Spec-SnakeBeta learns a periodic activation per frequency bin with frequency-dependent initialization, outperforming other activation variants while using fewer parameters than the fully independent variant. Duplex-Aware Refiner applies band-specific corrections to magnitude and phase following duplex theory of sound localization. On the 546-track Song Describer Dataset, ear-VAE2 achieves the best point estimates on five of seven reconstruction metrics. The Duplex-Aware Refiner reduces Mel Distance by 19.4% and uses ~45% fewer residual-output dimensions than the Unconstrained Refiner, while also lowering spectral distances, spatial-cue errors, and receiving higher ratings from professional engineers. The downstream generator using ear-VAE2 latents achieves better point estimates on all 12 automatic metrics.Demo page is available at https://eps-acoustic-revolution-lab.github.io/EAR_VAE2/.

CineDub: Scaling End-to-End Video Dubbing to Multi-Speaker Dialogues with Coherent Sound Effects

Automatic video dubbing in the wild remains fundamentally limited by two competing constraints: hierarchical methods depend on brittle, multi-stage preprocessing pipelines that severely restrict data scalability and practical deployment, while holistic approaches operating on uncropped video suffer from weak temporal alignment and speaker-utterance ambiguity in multi-speaker settings. To overcome these limitations, we propose CineDub, a unified diffusion-based model that achieves precise multi-speaker dialogue dubbing directly from uncropped videos, without face cropping or speaker diarization. Central to our approach is the Implicitly-Coupled Holistic Conditioning (ICHC) paradigm, where holistic visual representations and a semantic-bundled transcription format are encoded independently, yet implicitly coupled through cross-modal training to resolve speaker ambiguity and enable precise multi-speaker multi-turn dialogue dubbing. Building on the unified temporal cues captured by holistic visual features, we further extend CineDub to joint speech and audio generation. We introduce an Ambient-to-Linguistic Curriculum Learning (ALC) to mitigate sub-task degradation, and a decoupled textual branch control mechanism to resolve cross-prompt interference during simultaneous generation. We also release two in-the-wild benchmarks, CineDub-Multi for multi-speaker dialogue dubbing and CineDub-SA for video-to-speech-and-audio (V2SA) generation, to enable evaluation under realistic conditions. Experiments show that CineDub achieves state-of-the-art results on established single-speaker dubbing and video-to-audio benchmarks while excelling in multi-speaker dialogue dubbing and acoustically coherent joint generation.

Back to Ear: Perceptually Driven High Fidelity Music Reconstruction

Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) are essential for large-scale audio tasks like diffusion-based generation. However, existing open-source models often neglect auditory perceptual aspects during training, leading to weaknesses in phase accuracy and stereophonic spatial representation. To address these challenges, we propose εar-VAE, an open-source music signal reconstruction model that rethinks and optimizes the VAE training paradigm. Our contributions are threefold: (i) A K-weighting perceptual filter applied prior to loss calculation to align the objective with auditory perception. (ii) Two novel phase losses: a Correlation Loss for stereo coherence, and a Phase Loss using its derivatives--Instantaneous Frequency and Group Delay--for precision. (iii) A new spectral supervision paradigm where magnitude is supervised by all four Mid/Side/Left/Right components, while phase is supervised only by the LR components. Experiments show εar-VAE at 44.1kHz substantially outperforms leading open-source models across diverse metrics, showing particular strength in reconstructing high-frequency harmonics and the spatial characteristics.
