FIRE-LIVWO: Robust LiDAR-Inertial-Visual-Wheel Odometry via Failure-Immune mmWave Radar Enhancement

Achieving robust SLAM in large-scale underground coal mines with complex structures and severe degeneracies remains highly challenging. Dense smoke and dust cause substantial loss of visual information and degrade LiDAR point-cloud features, while long, self-similar corridors induce geometric degeneration, leading to pronounced odometry drift. To address these issues, we propose FIRE-LIVWO: Failure-Immune mmWave Radar-Enhanced LiDAR-Inertial-Visual-Wheel Odometry, a tightly coupled multi-modal odometry framework based on an iterated error-state Kalman filter (IESKF). The framework fuses 4D mmWave radar, LiDAR, and visual features within a unified VoxelMap and jointly constructs LiDAR-radar point-to-plane residuals and sparse visual photometric residuals. In smoke-filled environments, we exploit the strong penetration of 4D mmWave radar and introduce pointwise Doppler velocity constraints to preserve state observability. In geometrically degenerate corridors, we tightly couple wheel odometry using non-holonomic constraints (NHC) and online lever-arm compensation to reduce drift. Our central contribution is a degeneration detection and adaptive fusion model switching strategy grounded in geometric and visual observability analysis, which quantifies observability online and dynamically adjusts modality weights. Real-world experiments in underground coal mines demonstrate that FIRE-LIVWO accurately identifies failure boundaries, enabling reliable modality switching under extreme conditions. Compared with baselines, it achieves superior accuracy and robustness (average localization error of 5.677m). We open source our code on Github to benefit the robotics community.

Classification of $\mathrm{GL}_{n}(\mathbb{C})$-Representations Distinguished by $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{R})$

This paper provides a complete classification of $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{R})$-distinguished irreducible representations of $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C})$ when the representations are either generic or unitary. Additionally, for each such $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{R})$-distinguished representation, we explicitly construct the associated period and prove its non-vanishing on the distinguished minimal $K$-type. Furthermore, we offer some applications to the branching problem using theta correspondence.

Stability of the smooth Casselman-Jacquet functor

We establish and prove several results for the smooth Casselman-Jacquet submodule and quotient functors for real reductive groups. In addition to exactness, surjectivity, transitivity and globalization results, we establish a stability property for the intersection of Jacquet subspaces. Our approach is based on a family of seminorms on the Casselman-Jacquet quotient module. As an application, we establish a full version of the real Bernstein-Zelevinsky filtrations for smooth Fréchet representations of moderate growth.

Canonical Bernstein-Zelevinsky Filtration and Casselman's Comparison Conjecture

We establish a canonical Bernstein--Zelevinsky filtration for Casselman--Wallach representations that is analogous to the $p$-adic case. In addition, we outline an approach to Casselman's comparison conjecture and prove it for general linear groups, as well as for quasi-split even orthogonal groups in some special cases. We also give some applications of the Bernstein--Zelevinsky filtration, such as to the study of highest derivatives and the indecomposability of mirabolic restrictions.

Archimedean Bernstein-Zelevinsky Theory and Homological Branching Laws

We develop the Bernstein-Zelevinsky theory for quasi-split real classical groups and employ this framework to establish an Euler-Poincaré characteristic formula for general linear groups. The key to our approach is establishing the Casselman-Wallach property for the homology of the Jacquet functor, which also provides an affirmative resolution to an open question proposed by A. Aizenbud, D. Gourevitch and S. Sahi. Furthermore, we prove the vanishing of higher extension groups for arbitrary pairs of generic representations, confirming a conjecture of Dipendra Prasad. We also utilize the Bernstein-Zelevinsky theory to establish two additional results: the Leibniz law for the highest derivative and a unitarity criterion for general linear groups. Lastly, we apply the Bernstein-Zelevinsky theory to prove the Hausdorffness and exactness of the twisted homology of split even orthogonal groups.

Adaptive-LIO: Enhancing Robustness and Precision through Environmental Adaptation in LiDAR Inertial Odometry

The emerging Internet of Things (IoT) applications, such as driverless cars, have a growing demand for high-precision positioning and navigation. Nowadays, LiDAR inertial odometry becomes increasingly prevalent in robotics and autonomous driving. However, many current SLAM systems lack sufficient adaptability to various scenarios. Challenges include decreased point cloud accuracy with longer frame intervals under the constant velocity assumption, coupling of erroneous IMU information when IMU saturation occurs, and decreased localization accuracy due to the use of fixed-resolution maps during indoor-outdoor scene transitions. To address these issues, we propose a loosely coupled adaptive LiDAR-Inertial-Odometry named \textbf{Adaptive-LIO}, which incorporates adaptive segmentation to enhance mapping accuracy, adapts motion modality through IMU saturation and fault detection, and adjusts map resolution adaptively using multi-resolution voxel maps based on the distance from the LiDAR center. Our proposed method has been tested in various challenging scenarios, demonstrating the effectiveness of the improvements we introduce. The code is open-source on GitHub: \href{https://github.com/chengwei0427/adaptive_lio}{Adaptive-LIO}.
