Higgs-boson production associated with a bottom quark at hadron colliders with SUSY-QCD corrections

The Higgs boson production p p (p\bar p) -> b h +X via b g -> b h at the LHC, which may be an important channel for testing the bottom quark Yukawa coupling, is subject to large supersymmetric quantum corrections. In this work the one-loop SUSY-QCD corrections to this process are evaluated and are found to be quite sizable in some parameter space. We also study the behavior of the corrections in the limit of heavy SUSY masses and find the remnant effects of SUSY-QCD. These remnant effects, which are left over in the Higgs sector by the heavy sparticles, are found to be so sizable (for a light CP-odd Higgs and large \tanβ) that they might be observable in the future LHC experiment. The exploration of such remnant effects is important for probing SUSY, especially in case that the sparticles are too heavy (above TeV) to be directly discovered at the LHC.

Probing Topcolor-Assisted Technicolor from Top-Charm Associated Production at LHC

We propose to probe the topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) model from the top-charm associated productions at the LHC, which are highly suppressed in the Standard Model. Due to the flavor-changing couplings of the top quark with the scalars (top-pions and top-Higgs) in TC2 model, the top-charm associated productions can occur via both the s-channel and t-channel parton processes by exchanging a scalar field at the LHC. We examined these processes through Monte Carlo simulation and found that they can reach the observable level at the LHC in quite a large part of the parameter space of the TC2 model.

SUSY-Induced Top Quark FCNC Processes at Linear Colliders

In the Minimal Supersymmetric Model (MSSM) the hitherto unconstrained flavor mixing between top-squark and charm-squark will induce the flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) interaction between top quark and charm quark, which then give rise to various processes at the next generation linear collider (NLC), i.e., the top-charm associated productions via $e^+ e^-$, $e^- γ$ and $γγ$ collisions as well as the top quark rare decays $t \to c V$ ($V=g$, $γ$ or $Z$). All these processes involve the same part of the parameter space of the MSSM. Through a comparative analysis for all these processes at the NLC, we found the best channel to probe such SUSY-induced top quark FCNC is the top-charm associated production in $γγ$ collision, which occurs at a much higher rate than $e^+ e^-$ or $e^- γ$ collision and may reach the detectable level for some part of the parameter space. Since the rates predicted by the Standard Model are far below the detectable level, the observation of such FCNC events would be a robust indirect evidence of SUSY.

Can MSSM with light sbottom and light gluino survive Z-peak constraints ?

In the framework of minimal supersymmetric model we examine the Z-peak constraints on the scenario of one light sbottom (2--5.5 GeV) and light gluino (12--16 GeV), which has been successfully used to explain the excess of bottom quark production in hadron collision. Such a scenario is found to be severely constrained by LEP Z-peak observables, especially by R_b, due to the large effect of gluino-sbottom loops. To account for the R_b data in this scenario, the other mass eigenstate of sbottom, i.e., the heavier one, must be lighter than 125 (195) GeV at 2-sigma (3-sigma) level, which should have been produced in association with the lighter one at LEP II and will probobaly be within the reach of Tevatron Run 2.

The $B -> X_s gamma gamma$ decay in the standard model and the general two-Higgs-doublet model

Based on the low-energy effective Hamiltonian, we calculate the new physics corrections to the branching ratio and the differential distributions of the rare decay $B \to X_s γγ$ induced by the new gluonic and electroweak charged-Higgs penguin diagrams in the general two-Higgs-doublet model with the restriction $λ_{ij}^{U,D}=0$ for $i\neq j$. Within the considered parameter space, we see the following: (a) the standard model predictions of ${\cal B}(B \to X_s γγ)$ and $A_{FB}$ have a moderate $m_s$ dependence; (b) in model III, the prediction of the branching ratio ${\cal B}(B \to X_s γγ)$ ranges from one third to three times of the standard model prediction, but is highly correlated with that of ${\cal}(B \to X_s γ)$; (c) the new physics enhancement to the branching ratio ${\cal B}(B \to X_s γγ)$ in model II can be as large as $(30-50)%$; (d) the contribution from 1PR diagrams is dominant and hence four normalized differential distributions are insensitive to the variation of scale $μ$ and possible new physics corrections; (e) due to the smallness of its decay rate and the long-distance background, the $B \to X_s γγ$ decay is not a better process in detecting new physics than the $B \to X_s γ$ decay.

Neutral top-pion and top-charm production in high energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions

We calculate the contributions of the neutral top-pion, predicted by topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) theory, to top-charm production via the processes $γγ\longrightarrow\bar{t}c$ and $e^{+}e^{-}\longrightarrow γγ\longrightarrow \bar{t}c$ at the high energy linear $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider (LC) experiments. The cross section is of order $10^{-2}pb$ in most of the parameter space of TC2 theory, which may be detected at the LC experiments. So the process $e^{+}e^{-}\longrightarrow \bar{t}c$ can be used to detect the signature of TC2 theory.
