New constraints on Triton's atmosphere from the 6 October 2022 stellar occultation

The atmosphere of Triton was probed directly by observing a ground-based stellar occultation on 6 October 2022. This rare event yielded 23 positive light curves collected from 13 separate observation stations contributing to our campaign. The significance of this event lies in its potential to directly validate the modest pressure fluctuation on Triton, a phenomenon not definitively verified by previous observations, including only five stellar occultations, and the Voyager 2 radio occultation in 1989. Using an approach consistent with a comparable study, we precisely determined a surface pressure of $14.07_{-0.13}^{+0.21}~\mathrm{μbar}$ in 2022. This new pressure rules out any significant monotonic variation in pressure between 2017 and 2022 through direct observations, as it is in alignment with the 2017 value. Additionally, both the pressures in 2017 and 2022 align with the 1989 value. This provides further support for the conclusion drawn from the previous volatile transport model simulation, which is consistent with the observed alignment between the pressures in 1989 and 2017; that is to say, the pressure fluctuation is modest. Moreover, this conclusion suggests the existence of a northern polar cap extended down to at least $45^\circ$N$-60^\circ$N and the presence of nitrogen between $30^\circ$S and $0^\circ$.

Exploring Fermi Surface Nesting and the Nature of Heavy Quasiparticles in the Spin-Triplet Superconductor Candidate CeRh$_2$As$_2$

In this study, we investigate the electronic structure of a spin-triplet superconductor candidate CeRh$_2$As$_2$ using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations. Notably, Fermi surface nesting hints at connections to magnetic excitation or quadrupole density wave phenomena, elucidating the superconducting mechanisms. Measured band structures reveal primarily localized 4f electrons, with minor itinerant contributions. Additionally, a transition from localized to itinerant behavior and significant c-f hybridization anisotropy underscore the role of f-electrons in shaping electronic properties. These findings deepen our understanding of CeRh$_2$As$_2$'s unconventional superconductivity and magnetism. Further exploration promises advances in superconductivity research.

Drift Analysis with Fitness Levels for Elitist Evolutionary Algorithms

The fitness level method is a popular tool for analyzing the hitting time of elitist evolutionary algorithms. Its idea is to divide the search space into multiple fitness levels and estimate lower and upper bounds on the hitting time using transition probabilities between fitness levels. However, the lower bound generated by this method is often loose. An open question regarding the fitness level method is what are the tightest lower and upper time bounds that can be constructed based on transition probabilities between fitness levels. To answer this question, {\color{red} we combine drift analysis with fitness levels and define the tightest bound problem as a constrained multi-objective optimization problem subject to fitness levels.} The tightest metric bounds from fitness levels are constructed and proven for the first time. Then linear bounds are derived from metric bounds and a framework is established that can be used to develop different fitness level methods for different types of linear bounds. The framework is generic and promising, as it can be used to draw tight time bounds on both fitness landscapes without and with shortcuts. This is demonstrated in the example of the (1+1) EA maximizing the TwoMax1 function

Measuring magnetic field coil constants based on atomic magnetometry and fluxgate magnetometry

In a magnetic field detection system,to achieve high-sensitivity magnetic field measurement, it is necessary to use uniform magnetic field coils to provide a stable working environment, so the measurement of the magnetic field coilsconstant is of great significance. To accurately measure the magnetic field and compare the coil constant, we employed two different methods under good magnetic shielding conditions: the optically-pumped rubidium free-induction decay magnetometry and the fluxgate magnetometry. In terms of measuring coil constant, the optically-pumped rubidium FID magnetometer performs better than fluxgate magnetometer due to its high-sensitivity and good signal-to-noise ratio. We compare the magnetic field measured by the FID magnetometer with that of the fluxgate magnetometer and obtain a calibration factor of 0.9967. The calibration of fluxgate magnetometer with optically-pumped atomic magnetometer is realized. The method is simple and easy to operate for calibrating fluxgate magnetometer.

Comparison and analysis of methods for measuring the spin transverse relaxation time of rubidium atomic vapor

The spin transverse relaxation time (T_2) of atoms is an important indicator for precision measurement. Several methods have been proposed to characterize the T_2 of atoms. In this paper, the T_2 of rubidium (Rb) atomic vapor in the same cell was measured using four measuring methods, namely spin noise spectrum signal fitting, improved free induction decay (FID) signal fitting, w_m-broadening fitting, and magnetic resonance broadening fitting. Meanwhile, the T_2 of five different types of Rb atomic vapor cells were measured and characterized. A comparative analysis visualizes the characteristics of the different measuring methods and the effects of buffer gas on T_2 of Rb. We theoretically and experimentally analyzed the applicability of the different methods, and then demonstrated that the improved FID signal fitting method provides the most accurate measurement because of the clean environment in which the measurements were taken. Furthermore, we demonstrated and qualitatively analyzed the relationship between the atomic number density and the T_2 of Rb. This work provides analytical insight in selecting atomic vapor cells, and may shed light on the improvement of the sensitivity of atomic magnetometers.

Relations between near-field enhancements and Purcell factors in hybrid nanostructures of plasmonic antennas and dielectric cavities

Strong near-field enhancements (NFEs) of nanophotonic structures are believed to be closely related to high Purcell factors (FP). Here, we theoretically show that the correlation is partially correct; the extinction cross section (σ) response is also critical in determining FP. The divergence between NFE and FP is especially pronounced in plasmonic-dielectric hybrid systems, where the plasmonic antenna supports dipolar plasmon modes and the dielectric cavity hosts Mie-like resonances. The cavity's enhanced-field environment can boost the antenna's NFEs, but the FP is not increased concurrently due to the larger effective σ that is intrinsic to the FP calculations. Interestingly, the peak FP for the coupled system can be predicted by using the NFE and σ responses. Furthermore, the limits for FP of coupled systems are considered; they are determined by the sum of the FP of a redshifted (or modified, if applicable) antenna and an individual cavity. This contrasts starkly with the behavior of NFE which is closely associated with the multiplicative effects of the NFEs provided by the antenna and the dielectric cavity. The differing behaviors of NFE and FP in hybrid cavities have varied impacts on relevant nanophotonic applications such as fluorescence, Raman scattering and enhanced light-matter interactions.

FuRPE: Learning Full-body Reconstruction from Part Experts

In the field of full-body reconstruction, the scarcity of annotated data often impedes the efficacy of prevailing methods. To address this issue, we introduce FuRPE, a novel framework that employs part-experts and an ingenious pseudo ground-truth selection scheme to derive high-quality pseudo labels. These labels, central to our approach, equip our network with the capability to efficiently learn from the available data. Integral to FuRPE is a unique exponential moving average training strategy and expert-derived feature distillation strategy. These novel elements of FuRPE not only serve to further refine the model but also to reduce potential biases that may arise from inaccuracies in pseudo labels, thereby optimizing the network's training process and enhancing the robustness of the model. We apply FuRPE to train both two-stage and fully convolutional single-stage full-body reconstruction networks. Our exhaustive experiments on numerous benchmark datasets illustrate a substantial performance boost over existing methods, underscoring FuRPE's potential to reshape the state-of-the-art in full-body reconstruction.

Interference filter based external-cavity diode laser with combined dual interference filters and largely adjustable feedback range

External-cavity diode lasers (ECDL) are widely used as light sources in laser spectroscopy, atomic physics, and quantum optics. This study demonstrated a home-made 852-nm ECDL with variable feedback, using the combined dual narrow-band interference filters (IFs) as the laser longitudinal mode selection element. The combination of narrow-band IFs, mainly for the current commercially available narrow-band IFs with the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of approximately 0.5 nm for 780-895 nm. We designed different narrow-band IFs combinations to achieve a narrower FWHM, and applied them in the ECDL. The combination of the dual narrow-band IFs further reduces the laser linewidth. We measured the laser linewidth using a high-finesse Fabry-Perot cavity with a linewidth of approximately 10 kHz. The laser linewidth is approximately 176 kHz for the Single-IF-ECDL and 96 kHz for the Dual-IF-ECDL with the same feedback. In addition, we have experimentally verified the results of narrower laser linewidth and larger tuning range with increase in the feedback. The developed Dual-IF-ECDL has the capability of narrow linewidth and wavelength tunability and can be applied to precision spectroscopy, cooling and trapping of neutral atoms.

Experimental observation of the significant difference between surface and bulk Kondo processes in Kondo lattice YbCu$_2$Si$_2$

Synchrotron-based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy was employed to investigate the temperature evolution of the Yb 4f spectral for surface and bulk in the Kondo lattice YbCu$_2$Si$_2$.Our study quantitatively distinguishes between the surface and bulk hybridization processes, revealing that the onset temperatures for both surface and bulk hybridization processes are significantly higher than the Kondo temperature. Additionally, we found that the effective surface Kondo temperature is much lower than that of the bulk. These findings offer valuable insights into the understanding of heavy fermion physics.

BeatDance: A Beat-Based Model-Agnostic Contrastive Learning Framework for Music-Dance Retrieval

Dance and music are closely related forms of expression, with mutual retrieval between dance videos and music being a fundamental task in various fields like education, art, and sports. However, existing methods often suffer from unnatural generation effects or fail to fully explore the correlation between music and dance. To overcome these challenges, we propose BeatDance, a novel beat-based model-agnostic contrastive learning framework. BeatDance incorporates a Beat-Aware Music-Dance InfoExtractor, a Trans-Temporal Beat Blender, and a Beat-Enhanced Hubness Reducer to improve dance-music retrieval performance by utilizing the alignment between music beats and dance movements. We also introduce the Music-Dance (MD) dataset, a large-scale collection of over 10,000 music-dance video pairs for training and testing. Experimental results on the MD dataset demonstrate the superiority of our method over existing baselines, achieving state-of-the-art performance. The code and dataset will be made public available upon acceptance.

STDG: Semi-Teacher-Student Training Paradigram for Depth-guided One-stage Scene Graph Generation

Scene Graph Generation is a critical enabler of environmental comprehension for autonomous robotic systems. Most of existing methods, however, are often thwarted by the intricate dynamics of background complexity, which limits their ability to fully decode the inherent topological information of the environment. Additionally, the wealth of contextual information encapsulated within depth cues is often left untapped, rendering existing approaches less effective. To address these shortcomings, we present STDG, an avant-garde Depth-Guided One-Stage Scene Graph Generation methodology. The innovative architecture of STDG is a triad of custom-built modules: The Depth Guided HHA Representation Generation Module, the Depth Guided Semi-Teaching Network Learning Module, and the Depth Guided Scene Graph Generation Module. This trifecta of modules synergistically harnesses depth information, covering all aspects from depth signal generation and depth feature utilization, to the final scene graph prediction. Importantly, this is achieved without imposing additional computational burden during the inference phase. Experimental results confirm that our method significantly enhances the performance of one-stage scene graph generation baselines.

Characterizing current noise of commercial constant-current sources by using of an optically-pumped rubidium atomic magnetometer

This paper introduces a method for characterizing the current noise of commercial constant-current sources(CCSs) using a free-induction-decay(FID) type optically-pumped rubidium atomic magnetometer driven by a radio-frequency(RF) magnetic field. We convert the sensitivity of the atomic magnetometer into the current noise of CCS by calibrating the coil constant. At the same time, the current noise characteristics of six typical commercial low-noise CCSs are compared. The current noise level of the KeySight Model B2961A is the lowest among the six tested CCSs, which is 36.233 0.022 nA / Hz1/2 at 1-25 Hz and 133.905 0.080 nA / Hz1/2 at 1-100 Hz respectively. The sensitivity of atomic magnetometer is dependent on the current noise level of the CCS. The CCS with low noise is of great significance for high-sensitivity atomic magnetometer. The research provides an important reference for promoting the development of high precision CCS, metrology and basic physics research.

SelfTalk: A Self-Supervised Commutative Training Diagram to Comprehend 3D Talking Faces

Speech-driven 3D face animation technique, extending its applications to various multimedia fields. Previous research has generated promising realistic lip movements and facial expressions from audio signals. However, traditional regression models solely driven by data face several essential problems, such as difficulties in accessing precise labels and domain gaps between different modalities, leading to unsatisfactory results lacking precision and coherence. To enhance the visual accuracy of generated lip movement while reducing the dependence on labeled data, we propose a novel framework SelfTalk, by involving self-supervision in a cross-modals network system to learn 3D talking faces. The framework constructs a network system consisting of three modules: facial animator, speech recognizer, and lip-reading interpreter. The core of SelfTalk is a commutative training diagram that facilitates compatible features exchange among audio, text, and lip shape, enabling our models to learn the intricate connection between these factors. The proposed framework leverages the knowledge learned from the lip-reading interpreter to generate more plausible lip shapes. Extensive experiments and user studies demonstrate that our proposed approach achieves state-of-the-art performance both qualitatively and quantitatively. Possible molecular states from interactions of charmed strange baryons

In this work, we perform an investigation of possible molecular states composed of two charmed strange baryons from the $Ξ_c^{(',*)}Ξ_c^{(',*)}$ interaction, and their hidden-charm hidden-strange partners from the $Ξ_c^{(',*)}\barΞ_c^{(',*)}$ interaction. With the help of the heavy quark chiral effective Lagrangians, the interactions of charmed strange baryons are described with light meson exchanges. The potential kernels are constructed, and inserted into the quasipotential Bethe-Salpeter equation. The bound states are produced from most interactions considered, which suggests that strong attractions exist widely between the charmed strange baryons. Experimental searching for such molecular states is suggested in future high-precision measurements.

Combined analysis on nature of $X(3960)$, $χ_{c0}(3930)$, and $X_0(4140)$

In this work, a study of the $D_s\bar{D}_s$ interaction and its couplings to the channels $D\bar{D}$ and $J/ψϕ$ is performed in a quasipotential Bethe-Salpeter equation approach. The $D_s^+{D}_s^-$ and $D^+{D}^-$ invariant mass spectra in three-body $B$ decays are investigated in order to understand the origin of $X(3960)$, $χ_{c0}(3930)$, and $X_0(4140)$ structures reported at LHCb. With the help of effective Lagrangians, the potential kernel can be constructed with meson exchanges, from which the scattering amplitudes can be obtained. By inserting it into the three-body decay processes, the invariant mass spectra can be calculated with an additional Breit-Wigner resonance introduced. The $D_s^+{D}_s^-$ invariant mass spectrum in the decay process $B^+\to D^+_sD^-_sK^+$ is well reproduced, and the $X(3960)$ structure can be explained as a molecular state from the $D_s\bar{D}_s$ interaction. The state also exhibits as a peak in the $D^+{D}^-$ invariant mass spectrum in the decay $B^+\to D^+D^-K^+$, however, it is too narrow to reproduce the experimental structure around 3930~MeV. The dip around 4140~MeV in the $D_s^+{D}_s^-$ invariant mass spectrum can be reproduced by the additional resonance with interference effect. However, a small bump instead of a dip is produced from the $D_s\bar{D}_s-J/ψϕ$ coupled-channel effect, which suggests that the $X_0(4140)$ cannot be interpreted as the $D_s\bar{D}_s-J/ψϕ$ coupling in the current model.

EmoTalk: Speech-Driven Emotional Disentanglement for 3D Face Animation

Speech-driven 3D face animation aims to generate realistic facial expressions that match the speech content and emotion. However, existing methods often neglect emotional facial expressions or fail to disentangle them from speech content. To address this issue, this paper proposes an end-to-end neural network to disentangle different emotions in speech so as to generate rich 3D facial expressions. Specifically, we introduce the emotion disentangling encoder (EDE) to disentangle the emotion and content in the speech by cross-reconstructed speech signals with different emotion labels. Then an emotion-guided feature fusion decoder is employed to generate a 3D talking face with enhanced emotion. The decoder is driven by the disentangled identity, emotional, and content embeddings so as to generate controllable personal and emotional styles. Finally, considering the scarcity of the 3D emotional talking face data, we resort to the supervision of facial blendshapes, which enables the reconstruction of plausible 3D faces from 2D emotional data, and contribute a large-scale 3D emotional talking face dataset (3D-ETF) to train the network. Our experiments and user studies demonstrate that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods and exhibits more diverse facial movements. Narrow-linewidth 852-nm DBR-LD with self-injection lock based on high-fineness optical cavity filtering

Narrow-linewidth lasers have high spectral purity, long coherent length and low phase noise, so they have important applications in cold atom physics, quantum communication, quantum information processing and optical precision measurement. We inject transmitted laser from a narrow-linewidth (15 kHz) flat-concave Fabry-Perot (F-P) cavity made of ultra-low expansion (ULE) optical glass into 852-nm distributed-Bragg-reflector type laser diode (DBR-LD), of which the comprehensive linewidth of 1.67 MHz for the free running case. With the increase of self-injection power, the laser linewidth is gradually narrowed, and the inject-locking current range is gradually increased. The narrowest linewidth measured by the delayed frequency-shifted self-heterodyne (DFSSH) method is 263 Hz. Moreover, to characterize the laser phase noise, we use a detuned F-P cavity to measure the conversion signal from laser phase noise to intensity noise for both the free running case and self-injection lock case. Laser phase noise for the self-injection lock case is significantly suppressed in the analysis frequency range of 0.1-10 MHz compared to the free running case. Especially, the phase noise is suppressed by more than 30dB at the analysis frequency of 100 kHz.

Coupling of optical phonons with Kondo effect and magnetic orders in antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice CeAuSb$_2$

Ultrafast optical spectroscopy was used to investigate the ultrafast quasiparticle dynamics of antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice CeAuSb$_2$ as a function of temperature and fluence. Our results reveal (i) the opening of a narrow hybridization gap ($Δ$ $\sim$ 4.5 meV) near the Fermi level below the coherence temperature $T^*$ $\approx$ 100 K, (ii) the coupling of coherent phonon modes with Kondo effect and magnetic orders, leading to the frequencies anomaly at the characteristic temperatures, and (iii) a possible photoinduced nonthermal phase transition. Our observations thus shed light on the hybridization dynamics and magnetic orders in heavy fermion systems.
