Human-AI Technology Integration and Green ESG Performance: Evidence from Chinese Retail Enterprises

This study examines the relationship between human-AI technology integration transformation and green Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance in Chinese retail enterprises, with green technology innovation serving as a mediating mechanism. Using panel data comprising 5,400 firm-year observations from 2019 to 2023, sourced from CNRDS and CSMAR databases, we employ fixed-effects regression models to investigate this relationship. Our findings reveal that human-AI technology integration significantly enhances green ESG performance, with green technology innovation serving as a crucial mediating pathway. The results demonstrate that a one standard-deviation increase in human-AI integration leads to a 12.7% improvement in green ESG scores. The mediation analysis confirms that approximately 35% of this effect operates through enhanced green technology innovation capabilities. Heterogeneity analysis reveals stronger effects among larger firms, state-owned enterprises, and companies in developed regions. These findings contribute to the growing literature on digital transformation and sustainability by providing empirical evidence of the mechanisms through which AI integration drives environmental performance improvements in emerging markets.

Venus Cloud Research: Progress and Perspectives

Venus has regained attention on the international stage with the approval of three new missions by ESA and NASA. As the twin sister of Earth, Venus exhibits a distinct atmosphere, which casts a veil of mystery over the planetary evolution and is of great scientific significance. One of the most important components of Venus-the cloud-is believed to have significantly regulated its climate evolution and affect the environmental habitability. However, due to sparse in-situ measurements and the limitation of remote sensing, properties of these clouds remain largely unknown. Based on research conducted in past decades, this article reviews the observational structure of cloud properties, the progress of microphysical and simplified cloud model developments, and perspectives of future directions of this research field. Several possible solutions to the challenges associated with the coupling effect, ultraviolet absorption, and habitability are proposed and discussed in details, providing insights for future Venus' explorations.

A Comparative Study on the Impact of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) on Enterprise Software Delivery Effectiveness

This paper compares the impact of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) on software delivery effectiveness within enterprise environments. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with developers and project managers from enterprises adopting TDD or BDD. Moreover, the findings reveal distinct effects of each model on delivery speed, software quality, and team collaboration. Specifically, TDD emphasizes early testing and iterative development, leading to enhanced code quality and fewer defects, while BDD improves cross-functional communication by focusing on behavior specifications that involve stakeholders directly. However, TDD may create a higher initial time investment, and BDD might encounter challenges in requirement clarity. These differences highlight gaps in understanding how each model aligns with varying project types and stakeholder needs, which can guide enterprises in selecting the most suitable model for their unique requirements. The study contributes to the literature by providing insights into the practical application and challenges of TDD and BDD, suggesting future research on their long-term impacts in diverse settings.

Characterizing the current systems in the Martian ionosphere

When the solar wind interacts with the ionosphere of an unmagnetized planet, it induces currents that form an induced magnetosphere. These currents and their associated magnetic fields play a pivotal role in controlling the movement of charged particles, which is essential for understanding the escape of planetary ions. Unlike the well-documented magnetospheric current systems, the ionospheric current systems on unmagnetized planets remain less understood, which constrains the quantification of electrodynamic energy transfer from stars to these planets. Here, utilizing eight years of data from the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) mission, we investigate the global distribution of ionospheric currents on Mars. We have identified two distinct current systems in the ionosphere: one aligns with the solar wind electric field yet exhibits hemispheric asymmetry perpendicular to the electric field direction; the other corresponds to the flow pattern of annually-averaged neutral winds. We propose that these two current systems are driven by the solar wind and atmospheric neutral winds, respectively. Our findings reveal that Martian ionospheric dynamics are influenced by the neutral winds from below and the solar wind from above, highlighting the complex and intriguing nature of current systems on unmagnetized planets.

Quantification of the Writhe Number Evolution of Solar Filament Axes

Solar filament eruptions often show complex and dramatic geometric deformation that is highly relevant to the underlying physical mechanism triggering the eruptions. It has been well known that the writhe of filament axes is a key parameter characterizing its global geometric deformation, but a quantitative investigation of the development of writhe during its eruption is still lacking. Here we introduce the Writhe Application Toolkit (WAT) which can be used to characterize accurately the topology of filament axes. This characterization is achieved based on the reconstruction and writhe number computation of three-dimensional paths of the filament axes from dual-perspective observations. We apply this toolkit to four dextral filaments located in the northern hemisphere with a counterclockwise (CCW) rotation during their eruptions. Initially, all these filaments possess a small writhe number (=<0.20) indicating a weak helical deformation of the axes. As the CCW rotation kicks in, their writhe numbers begin to decrease and reach large negative values. Combined with the extended C\u{a}lug\u{a}reanu theorem, the absolute value of twist is deduced to decrease during the rotation. Such a quantitative analysis strongly indicates a consequence of the conversion of twist into writhe for the studied events.
