Orbifold Bergman Kernels

Let $({X}, \omega)$ be a compact $n$-dimensional K\"ahler orbifold, the stabilizer groups of which are abelian and have rank at most two. Let ${E}$ be an orbi-ample vector bundle of rank $2$ over ${X}$ and let $H$ be a Hermitian metric on ${E}$ such that the curvature form of $\det H$ is $-2\pi \sqrt{-1} \omega$. We show that a certain weighted sum of Bergman kernels for ${Sym}^i {E} \otimes \det({E})^{k+j}$ as $i$ and $j$ vary over a finite set admit an asymptotic expansion. This extends a similar result for cyclic K\"ahler orbifolds.

Twisted scalar curvature as a moment map

We develop the moment map theory of the twisted scalar curvature of a K\"ahler metric. Primarily, we introduce a coupled system of equations on a holomorphic submersion intertwining the twisted scalar curvature of a K\"ahler metric on the base and the fibrewise scalar curvature of a relatively K\"ahler metric on the total space. This resulting system can be viewed as producing the natural coupled metric geometry of holomorphic submersions, and we show that this system appears canonically as a moment map. The approach generalises to foliations, where we prove similar results.

Generalized Bogomolov Inequalities

We introduce the notion of a Hodge-Riemann pair of cohomology classes that generalizes the classical Hodge-Riemann bilinear relations, and the notion of a Bogomolov pair of cohomology classes that generalizes the Bogomolov inequality for semistable sheaves. We conjecture that every Hodge-Riemann pair is a Bogomolov pair, and prove various cases of this conjecture. As an application we get new results concerning boundedness of semistable sheaves.

Realization of Cohomology Classes in Grassmannians

The study of irreducible subvarieties has recently seen a surge of interest due to connections with convex geometry. In this paper, we study cohomology classes of Grassmannians that are realizable by irreducible subvarieties. We completely classify the cohomology classes that can be realized by irreducible subvarieties in dimensions 2 and 3 and codimensions 2 and 3. We also classify all the classes that can be realizable by an irreducible subvariety for the Grassmannians $G(2,n)$ for $n \leq 6$ and $G(3,6)$. We classify the cohomology classes in all dimensions that are, up to positive multiple, realizable by an irreducible subvariety for the Grassmannians $G(2,n)$.

Uniform boundedness of semistable pure sheaves on projective manifolds

We prove uniform boundedness statements for semistable pure sheaves on projective manifolds. For example, we prove that the set of isomorphism classes of pure sheaves of dimension 2 that are slope semistable with respect to ample classes that vary in a compact set $K$ are bounded. We also prove uniform boundedness for pure sheaves of higher dimension, but with restrictions on the compact set $K$. As applications we get new statements about moduli spaces of semistable sheaves, and the wall-chamber structure that governs their variation.

Schur positivity of difference of products of derived Schur polynomials

To any Schur polynomial $s_{\lambda}$ one can associated its derived polynomials $s_{\lambda}{(i)}$ $i=0,\ldots,|\lambda|$ by the rule $$s_{\lambda}(x_1+t,\ldots,x_n+t) = \sum_i s_{\lambda}^{(i)}(x_1,\ldots,x_n) t^i.$$ We conjecture that $$(s_{\lambda}^{(i)})^2 - s_{\lambda}^{(i-1)} s_{\lambda}^{(i+1)}$$ is always Schur positive and prove this when $i=1$ for rectangles $\lambda = (k^\ell)$, for hooks $\lambda = (k, 1^{\ell -1})$, and when $\lambda = (k,k,1)$ or $\lambda = (3,2^{k-1})$.

Harmonic Interpolation and a Brunn-Minkowski Theorem for Random Determinants

We describe the harmonic interpolation of convex bodies, and prove a strong form of the Brunn-Minkowski inequality and characterize its equality case. As an application we improve a theorem of Berndtsson on the volume of slices of a pseudoconvex domain. We furthermore apply this to prove subharmonicity of the expected absolute value of the determinant of a matrix of random vectors through the connection with zonoids.

Dually Lorentzian Polynomials

We introduce and study a notion of dually Lorentzian polynomials, and show that if $s$ is non-zero and dually Lorentzian then the operator \[s(\partial_{x_1},\ldots,\partial_{x_n}):\mathbb R[x_1,\ldots,x_n] \to \mathbb R[x_1,\ldots,x_n]\] preserves (strictly) Lorentzian polynomials. From this we conclude that any theory that admits a mixed Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality also admits a generalized Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality involving dually Lorentzian polynomials. As such we deduce generalized Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities for mixed discriminants, for integrals of K\"ahler classes, for mixed volumes, and in the theory of valuations.

Interpolation, Prekopa and Brunn-Minkowski for $F$-subharmonicity

We extend Prekopa's Theorem and the Brunn-Minkowski Theorem from convexity to $F$-subharmonicity. We apply this to the interpolation problem of convex functions and convex sets introducing a new notion of "harmonic interpolation" that we view as a generalization of Minkowski-addition.

On Hodge-Riemann Cohomology Classes

We prove that Schur classes of nef vector bundles are limits of classes that have a property analogous to the Hodge-Riemann bilinear relations. We give a number of applications, including (1) new log-concavity statements about characteristic classes of nef vector bundles (2) log-concavity statements about Schur and related polynomials (3) another proof that normalized Schur polynomials are Lorentzian.

Twisted K\"ahler-Einstein metrics

We prove an existence result for twisted K\"ahler-Einstein metrics, assuming an appropriate twisted K-stability condition. An improvement over earlier results is that certain non-negative twisting forms are allowed.

Hodge-Riemann bilinear relations for Schur classes of ample vector bundles

Let $X$ be a $d$ dimensional projective manifold, $E$ be an ample vector bundle on $X$ and $0\le \lambda_N\le \lambda_{N-1} \le \cdots \le \lambda_1 \le \operatorname{rank}(E)$ be a partition of $d-2$. We prove that the Schur class $s_{\lambda}(E)\in H^{d-2,d-2}(X)$ has the Hard Lefschetz property and satisfies the Hodge-Riemann bilinear relations. As a consequence we obtain various new inequalities between characteristic classes of ample vector bundles, including a higher-rank version of the Khovanskii-Teissier inequalities.

The Minimum Principle for Convex Subequations

A subequation on an open subset $X\subset \mathbb R^n$ is a subset $F$ of the space of $2$-jets on $X$ with certain properties. A smooth function is said to be $F$-subharmonic if all of its $2$-jets lie in $F$, and using the viscosity technique one can extend the notion of $F$-subharmonicity to any upper-semicontinuous function. Let $\mathcal P$ denote the subequation consisting of those $2$-jets whose Hessian part is semipositive. We introduce a notion of product subequation $F\#\mathcal P$ on $X\times \mathbb R^{m}$ and prove, under suitable hypotheses, that if $F$ is convex and $f(x,y)$ is $F\#\mathcal P$-subharmonic then the marginal function $$ g(x):= \inf_y f(x,y)$$ is $F$-subharmonic. This generalises the classical statement that the marginal function of a convex function is again convex. We also prove a complex version of this result that generalises the Kiselman minimum principle for the marginal function of a plurisubharmonic function.

The Dirichlet Problem for the Complex Homogeneous Monge-Amp\`ere Equation

We survey the Dirichlet problem for the complex Homogeneous Monge-Amp\`ere Equation, both in the case of domains in $\mathbb C^n$ and the case of compact K\"ahler manifolds parametrized by a Riemann surface with boundary. We then give a self-contained account of previous work of the authors that connects this with the Hele-Shaw flow, and give several concrete examples illustrating various phenomena that solutions to this problem can display.
