On compact embbeded Weingarten hypersurfaces in warped products

We show that compact embedded starshaped $r$-convex hypersurfaces of certain warped products satisfying $H_r=aH+b$ with $a\geqslant 0$, $b>0$, where $H$ and $H_r$ are respectively the mean curvature and $r$-th mean curvature is a slice. In the case of space forms, we show that without the assumption of starshapedness, such Weingarten hypersurfaces are geodesic spheres. Finally, we prove that, in the case of space forms, if $Hr-aH-b$ is close to $0$ then the hypersurface is close to geodesic sphere for the Hausdorff distance. We also prove an anisotropic version of this stability result in the Euclidean space.

Spinorial representation of submanifolds in a product of space forms

We present a method giving a spinorial characterization of an immersion in a product of spaces of constant curvature. As a first application we obtain a proof using spinors of the fundamental theorem of immersion theory in that spaces. We also study special cases: we recover previously known results concerning immersions in $\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ and we obtain new spinorial characterizations of immersions in $\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R}^2$ and in $\mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}.$ We then study the theory of $H=1/2$ surfaces in $\mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ using this spinorial approach, obtain new proofs of some of its fundamental results and give a direct relation with the theory of $H=1/2$ surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{1,2}.$

Characterization of hypersurfaces in four dimensional product spaces via two different Spin$^c$ structures

The Riemannian product $\mathbb M_1(c_1) \times \mathbb M_2(c_2)$, where $\mathbb M_i(c_i)$ denotes the $2$-dimensional space form of constant sectional curvature $c_i \in \mathbb R$, has two different Spin$^c$ structures carrying each a parallel spinor. The restriction of these two parallel spinor fields to a $3$-dimensional hypersurface $M$ characterizes the isometric immersion of $M$ into $\mathbb M_1(c_1) \times \mathbb M_2(c_2)$. As an application, we prove that totally umbilical hypersurfaces of $\mathbb M_1(c_1) \times \mathbb M_1(c_1)$ and totally umbilical hypersurfaces of $\mathbb M_1(c_1) \times \mathbb M_2(c_2)$ ($c_1 \neq c_2$) having a local structure product, are of constant mean curvature.

Isometric immersions into manifolds with metallic structures

We consider submanifolds into Riemannian manifold with metallic structures. We obtain some new results for hypersurfaces in these spaces and we express the fundamental theorem of submanifolds into products spaces in terms of metallic structures. Moreover, we define new structures called complex metallic structures. We show that these structures are linked with complex structures. Then, we consider submanifolds into Riemannian manifold with such structures with a focus on invariant submanifolds and hypersurfaces. We also express in particular the fundamental theorem of submanifolds of complex space form in terms of complex metallic structures.

f-Biharmonic and bi-f-harmonic submanifolds of generalized space forms

We study f-biharmonic and bi-f-harmonic submanifolds in both generalized complex and Sasakian space forms. We prove necessary and sufficient condition for f-biharmonicity and bi-f-harmonicity in the general case and many particular cases. Some non-existence results are also obtained.

Spinorial representation of submanifolds in metric Lie groups

In this paper we give a spinorial representation of submanifolds of any dimension and codimension into Lie groups equipped with left invariant metrics. As applications, we get a spinorial proof of the Fundamental Theorem for submanifolds into Lie groups, we recover previously known representations of submanifolds in $\mathbb{R}^n$ and in the 3-dimensional Lie groups $S^3$ and $E(\kappa,\tau),$ and we get a new spinorial representation for surfaces in the 3-dimensional semi-direct products: this achieves the spinorial representations of surfaces in the 3-dimensional homogeneous spaces. We finally indicate how to recover a Weierstrass-type representation for CMC-surfaces in 3-dimensional metric Lie groups recently given by Meeks, Mira, Perez and Ros.

Biharmonic submanifolds of generalized space forms

We consider biharmonic submanifolds in both generalized complex and Sasakian space forms. After giving the biharmonicity conditions for submanifolds in these spaces, we study different particular cases for which we obtain curvature estimates. We consider curves, complex and Lagrangian surfaces and hypersurfaces for the generalized complex space form as well as hypersurfaces, invariant and anti-invariant submanifolds in case of generalized Sasakian space form.

On the stability of the Wulff shape

Given a positive function F on S n satisfying an appropriate con-vexity assumption, we consider hypersurfaces for which a linear combination of some higher order anisotropic curvatures is constant. We define the varia-tional problem for which these hypersurfaces are critical points and we prove that, up to translations and homotheties, the Wulff shape is the only stable closed hypersurface of the Euclidean space for this problem.

Explicit rigidity of almost-umbilical hypersurfaces

We give an explicit estimate of the distance of a closed, connected, oriented and immersed hypersurface of a space form to a geodesic sphere and show that the spherical closeness can be controlled by a power of an integral norm of the traceless second fundamental form, whenever the latter is sufficiently small. Furthermore we use the inverse mean curvature flow in the hyperbolic space to deduce the best possible order of decay in the class of $C^{\infty}$-bounded hypersurfaces of the Euclidean space.

A Fundamental Theorem for submanifolds of multiproducts of real space forms

We prove a Bonnet theorem for isometric immersions of submanifolds into the products of an arbitrary number of simply connected real space forms. Then, we prove the existence of associated families of minimal surfaces in such products. Finally, in the case of $\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{S}^2$, we give a complex version of the main theorem in terms of the two canonical complex structures of $\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{S}^2$.

The spinor representation formula in 3 and 4 dimensions

In the literature, two approaches to the Weierstrass representation formula using spinors are known, one explicit, going back to Kusner & Schmitt, and generalized by Konopelchenko and Taimanov, and one abstract due to Friedrich, Bayard, Lawn and Roth. In this article, we show that both points of view are indeed equivalent, for surfaces in R^3, Nil_3 and R^4. The correspondence between the equations of both approaches is explicitly given and as a consequence we derive alternate (and simpler) proofs of these previous theorems.

Spinorial Representation of Surfaces into 4-dimensional Space Forms

In this paper we give a geometrically invariant spinorial representation of surfaces in four-dimensional space forms. In the Euclidean space, we obtain a representation formula which generalizes the Weierstrass representation formula of minimal surfaces. We also obtain as particular cases the spinorial characterizations of surfaces in $\R^3$ and in $S^3$ given by T. Friedrich and by B. Morel

The Spin$^c$ Dirac Operator on Hypersurfaces and Applications

We extend to the eigenvalues of the hypersurface Spin$^c$ Dirac operator well known lower and upper bounds. Examples of limiting cases are then given. Futhermore, we prove a correspondence between the existence of a Spin$^c$ Killing spinor on homogeneous 3-dimensional manifolds $\mathbb E^*(\kappa, \tau)$ with 4-dimensional isometry group and isometric immersions of $\mathbb E^*(\kappa, \tau)$ into the complex space form $\mathbb M^4(c)$ of constant holomorphic sectional curvature $4c$, for some $c\in \mathbb R^*$. As applications, we show the non-existence of totally umbilic surfaces in $\mathbb E^*(\kappa, \tau)$ and we give necessary and sufficient geometric conditions to immerse a 3-dimensional Sasaki manifold into $\mathbb M^4(c)$.
