Double diffraction production for dipole-dipole scattering at high energies

This paper is a first attempt to describe double diffractive production in dipole-dipole scattering within high energy QCD. Our approach is based on summing large BFKL Pomeron loops, which generate two clusters of hadrons separated by a rapidity gap. Unlike in the BK framework, our approach allows both clusters to carry large masses. We derive the cross section for the production of two such clusters and show that it exhibits geometric scaling. Testing this scaling behaviour against data from high-energy colliders such as the LHC will be a crucial step in establishing whether large Pomeron loops play a major role in high energy QCD dynamics, and in particular in the unitarization of the scattering amplitude.

Secular Light Curve of Exocomet 3I/ATLAS, and its Location on a Comet Evolutionary Diagram

In this work we will create the Secular Light Curve (SLC) of exocomet 3I/ATLAS, using the SLC-Methodology (Ferrin 2010-2023). The SLCs give a throve of new information and allow the comparison of exo-comets with comets of our own solar system. We arrive at the following conclusions: The colors of 3I are consistent and lie inside the area of colors of other comets in our solar system. The SLC of this comet exhibits a photometric anomaly, a region from -120 to -45 days before perihelion that we interpreted as an eclipse, suggesting that 3I might also be a binary. At -45 days, the SLC changes abruptly its slope, reaching a maximum absolute magnitude of mV(1,1,α) = 6.8+-0.1. Using reported estimates derived from 97 papers in the arXiv.org depository for the size, dust, H2O, CO2, and CO production rates, we calculate the total mass loss. We use the inverse total mass loss, as a proxy for age. The Mass-Loss Age = 0.16 comet years will be plotted in the horizontal axis of a Comet Evolutionary Diagram (CED) while the number of Remaining Returns defined as RR = r/Δr = 24, will be plotted in the vertical axis of the CED. 3I/ATLAS exocomet lies among the comets of our Oort comet family. We conclude that 3I is a comet of the Oort Cloud, but from a different stellar system. The Evolutionary Diagram presented in this work shows complexity beyond current understanding

Multiplicity distribution of produced gluons in deep inelastic scattering: main equations and their homotopy solutions for heavy nuclei

In this paper we discuss the multiplicity distribution in the deep inelastic processes in the frame work of high energy QCD. We obtained three results. First, we get the new derivation of the equations for the cross sections of productions of $n$-cut Pomerons in the final states ($σ_n$). These equations coincide with the equations that have been derived using the Abramovsky, Gribov and Kancheli (AGK) cutting rules but based on the dipole approach to QCD. Second, we developed the homotopy approach for finding the solutions to these equations. It consists with the analytic solution for the first iteration and the converge procedure of calculating the next iterations using computing. Third, we found the analytical solution for $σ_n$ at large $n\,\gtrsim\,N(z) = 2 N_0 \,z\,\exp( z^2/(2 κ))$ with $z = \ln( r^2\,Q^2_s )$. Using this solution we calculate the entropy of the produced gluons at large $z$: $S_E = \ln \left( N(z)\right)$, where the saturation momentum $Q_s$ and all constants are discussed in the text.

Catastrophic-risk-aware reinforcement learning with extreme-value-theory-based policy gradients

This paper tackles the problem of mitigating catastrophic risk (which is risk with very low frequency but very high severity) in the context of a sequential decision making process. This problem is particularly challenging due to the scarcity of observations in the far tail of the distribution of cumulative costs (negative rewards). A policy gradient algorithm is developed, that we call POTPG. It is based on approximations of the tail risk derived from extreme value theory. Numerical experiments highlight the out-performance of our method over common benchmarks, relying on the empirical distribution. An application to financial risk management, more precisely to the dynamic hedging of a financial option, is presented.
