Commuting maps on the Heisenberg algebra

Given a ring $R$ with center $Z(R)$, we say a linear map $f:R\rightarrow R$ is commuting if $[f(x),x]=0$ for all $x\in R$. Such a map has a standard form if there exists $\lambda\in R$ and additive $\mu:R\rightarrow Z(R)$ such that $f(x)=\lambda x+\mu(x)$ for all $x\in R$. We characterize the linear commuting maps over the $n\times n$ Heisenberg algebra, showing that such maps need not be of the standard form.

Bilinear maps on the ring of strictly upper triangular matrices

Let $R$ be a 2-torsion free unital ring and $N_n=N_n(R)$ the ring of strictly upper triangular matrices with entries in $R$ and center $Z=Z(N_n)$. It has been previously shown that any linear map $f:N_n\rightarrow N_n$ satisfying the condition $[f(X),X]=0$ must be of the form $f(X)=\lambda X+\mu(X)$ for some $\lambda\in R$ and additive map $\mu$ defined on $N_n$. We extend these known results by providing a complete description of the bilinear maps $f:N_n\times N_n\rightarrow N_n$ satisfying the identity $[f(X,X),X]=0$ for all $X\in N_n$.

Power commuting and centralizing maps on the ring of strictly upper triangular matrices

Let $N_n(F)$ denote the ring of strictly upper triangular matrices with entries in a field $F$ of characteristic zero and center $Z(N_n(F))$. We characterize the $2$-power commuting maps over $N_n(F)$, maps satisfying the identity $[f(X),X^2]=0$ for all $X\in N_n(F)$. As a consequence, we also obtain a characterization of the maps centralizing maps over $N_n(F)$, maps satisfying $[f(X),X]\in Z(N_n(F))$ for all $X\in N_n(F)$.

Quasi-isometric rigidity of a class of right-angled Coxeter groups

We establish quasi-isometric rigidity for a class of right-angled Coxeter groups. Let $\Gamma_1,\Gamma_2$ be joins of finite generalized thick $m$-gons with $m\geq 3$. We show that the corresponding right-angled Coxeter groups are quasi-isometric if and only if $\Gamma_1,\Gamma_2$ are isomorphic. We also give a construction of commensurable right-angled Coxeter groups.
