The Entropy of BTZ Black Hole from Loop Quantum Gravity

In this paper, we calculated the entropy of the BTZ black hole in the framework of loop quantum gravity. We got the result that the horizon degrees of freedom can be described by the 2D SO(1,1) punctured BF theory. Finally we got the area law for the entropy of BTZ black hole.

Search for the gravitational wave memory effect with the Parkes Pulsar Timing Array

Gravitational wave bursts produced by supermassive binary black hole mergers will leave a persistent imprint on the space-time metric. Such gravitational wave memory signals are detectable by pulsar timing arrays as a glitch event that would seem to occur simultaneously for all pulsars. In this paper, we describe an initial algorithm which can be used to search for gravitational wave memory signals. We apply this algorithm to the Parkes Pulsar Timing Array data set. No significant gravitational wave memory signal is founded in the data set.

Recent glitches detected in the Crab pulsar

From 2000 to 2010, monitoring of radio emission from the Crab pulsar at Xinjiang Observatory detected a total of nine glitches. The occurrence of glitches appears to be a random process as described by previous researches. A persistent change in pulse frequency and pulse frequency derivative after each glitch was found. There is no obvious correlation between glitch sizes and the time since last glitch. For these glitches $Δν_{p}$ and $Δ\dotν_{p}$ span two orders of magnitude. The pulsar suffered the largest frequency jump ever seen on MJD 53067.1. The size of the glitch is $\sim$ 6.8 $\times 10^{-6}$ Hz, $\sim$ 3.5 times that of the glitch occured in 1989 glitch, with a very large permanent changes in frequency and pulse frequency derivative and followed by a decay with time constant $\sim$ 21 days. The braking index presents significant changes. We attribute this variation to a varying particle wind strength which may be caused by glitch activities. We discuss the properties of detected glitches in Crab pulsar and compare them with glitches in the Vela pulsar.

The zeros and poles of the partition function

In this paper, we consider the physical meaning of the zeros and poles of partition function. We consider three different systems, including the harmonic oscillator in one dimension, Riemann zeta function and the quasinormal modes of black hole.

The fractal dimension of the Riemann zeta zeros

In this paper, we consider the nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function as the eigenvalues of the Dirac operator on a fractal manifold. From the heat kernel expansion, we figure out that the fractal dimension of the manifold is about 1.1-1.2. Also we compare this result to the random matrix theory and the quantum chaos theory.

The generating function of the $σ_1$ function

In this paper, we give a generate function for the $σ_1$ function. Then we find some connections between the $σ_1$ function and the Ramanujan's tau function. We hope this connection will give some insights into the unsolved problems in classical number theory.

A Physical Approach to Polya's Conjecture

The similarity between the Polya's conjecture and the Bonomol'nyi bound remind us to consider a physical approach to Polya's conjecture. We conjecture a duality between the waves and the soliton solutions on the surface. We consider the special case in the disc.

Holograph in noncommutative geometry: Part 1

In this paper, we consider the holograph principle emergent from noncommutative geometry, based on the spectral action principle. We show that under some appropriate conditions, the gravity theory on a manifold with boundary could be equivalent to a gauge theory $SU(N)$ on the boundary. Then an expression for $N$ with the geometrical quantities of the manifold is given. Based on this result, we find that the volume of the manifold and the boundary have some discrete structure. Applying the result to the black hole, we get that the radium of the Schwarzschild black hole is quantized. We also find an explanation why the extremal RN-black hole has zero temperature but with finite entropy.

Geometrical quantities on a fuzzy sphere

In this paper, we consider the geometrical quantities on the fuzzy sphere from the spectral point of view, such as the area and the dimension. We find that, in contract to the standard sphere, the area and the dimension are the functions of the energy scale of the fuzzy sphere.
