The phase transition for domination in two interacting urns with power reinforcement

We study two interacting urns with power reinforcement $W(n)=n^\alpha$, for $\alpha>1$. Using Qin's stochastic-approximation theorem as input, we reduce the phase transition problem for domination to the sign analysis of a single analytic function $\Phi_p$. This deterministic reduction identifies the sharp threshold and proves that the two natural critical parameters for domination coincide. We determine the first-order behavior of the critical interaction parameter as $\alpha\downarrow1$ and show that it is not nondecreasing in the reinforcement exponent, answering two questions posed by Qin.

Multi-point functions of a full-plane two-state fuzzy $4$-Potts model

We study the full-plane two-state fuzzy $4$-Potts model, obtained by assigning independent balanced $\{\pm1\}$ spins to the open clusters of a critical $q=4$ random-cluster configuration. This model corresponds exactly to the single-spin projection of the isotropic Ashkin-Teller model at its Potts point. We prove that, after proper normalization, all even multi-point spin correlation functions converge to explicit conformally covariant Coulomb-gas type neutral charge sums. As a consequence, we prove convergence in law of the rescaled magnetization field and identify the moments of the limiting field. The proof combines the Baxter-Kelland-Wu coupling, convergence of the six-vertex height function to the Gaussian free field, and a charge-completion mechanism: an enlarged discrete sum over charge assignments with total charge in $4\mathbb Z$ produces a combinatorial cancellation of connection patterns, while only the neutral charge sector survives in the scaling limit.

Conformal invariance of random currents: a stability result

We show the convergence of the single sourceless critical random current to a limit identifiable with the nested CLE(3). Our approach is based on viewing the random current as a perturbation of the Ising interface, which is known to converge to CLE(3). Instead of focusing solely on the random current, we provide a general framework for the stability of scaling limits under the perturbation by superimposing an independent Bernoulli percolation.

Hamilton-Jacobi equations with monotone nonlinearities on convex cones

We study the Cauchy problem of a Hamilton-Jacobi equation with the spatial variable in a closed convex cone. A monotonicity assumption on the nonlinearity allows us to prescribe no condition on the boundary of the cone. We show the well-posedness of the equation in the viscosity sense and prove several properties of the solution: monotonicity, Lipschitzness, and representations by variational formulas.

Hamilton-Jacobi equations from mean-field spin glasses

We give a meaning to the Hamilton--Jacobi equation arising from mean-field spin glass models in the viscosity sense, and establish the corresponding well-posedness. Originally defined on the set of monotone probability measures, these equations can be interpreted, via an isometry, to be defined on an infinite-dimensional closed convex cone with an empty interior in a Hilbert space. We prove the comparison principle, and the convergence of finite-dimensional approximations furnishing the existence of solutions. Under additional convexity conditions, we show that the solution can be represented by a version of the Hopf--Lax formula, or the Hopf formula on cones. Previously, two notions of solutions were considered, one defined directly as the Hopf--Lax formula, and another as limits of finite-dimensional approximations. They have been proven to describe the limit free energy in a wide class of mean-field spin glass models. This work shows that these two kinds of solutions are viscosity solutions.

Limiting free energy of multi-layer generalized linear models

We compute the high-dimensional limit of the free energy associated with a multi-layer generalized linear model. Under certain technical assumptions, we identify the limit in terms of a variational formula. The approach is to first show that the limit is a solution to a Hamilton-Jacobi equation whose initial condition is related to the limiting free energy of a model with one fewer layer. Then, we conclude by an iteration.

Statistical inference of finite-rank tensors

We consider a general statistical inference model of finite-rank tensor products. For any interaction structure and any order of tensor products, we identify the limit free energy of the model in terms of a variational formula. Our approach consists of showing first that the limit free energy must be the viscosity solution to a certain Hamilton-Jacobi equation.

Fenchel-Moreau identities on convex cones

A pointed convex cone naturally induces a partial order, and further a notion of nondecreasingness for functions. We consider extended real-valued functions defined on the cone. Monotone conjugates for these functions can be defined in an analogous way to the standard convex conjugate. The only difference is that the supremum is taken over the cone instead of the entire space. We give sufficient conditions for the cone under which the corresponding Fenchel-Moreau biconjugation identity holds for proper, convex, lower semicontinuous, and nondecreasing functions defined on the cone. In addition, we show that these conditions are satisfied by a class of cones known as perfect cones.

Hamilton-Jacobi equations for inference of matrix tensor products

We study the high-dimensional limit of the free energy associated with the inference problem of finite-rank matrix tensor products. In general, we bound the limit from above by the unique solution to a certain Hamilton-Jacobi equation. Under additional assumptions on the nonlinearity in the equation which is determined explicitly by the model, we identify the limit with the solution. Two notions of solutions, weak solutions and viscosity solutions, are considered, each of which has its own advantages and requires different treatments. For concreteness, we apply our results to a model with i.i.d. entries and symmetric interactions. In particular, for the first order and even order tensor products, we identify the limit and obtain estimates on convergence rates; for other odd orders, upper bounds are obtained.
