AnomalyAgent: Agentic Industrial Anomaly Synthesis via Tool-Augmented Reinforcement Learning

Industrial anomaly generation is a crucial method for alleviating the data scarcity problem in anomaly detection tasks. Most existing anomaly synthesis methods rely on single-step generation mechanisms, lacking complex reasoning and iterative optimization capabilities, making it difficult to generate anomaly samples with high semantic realism. We propose AnomalyAgent, an anomaly synthesis agent with self-reflection, knowledge retrieval, and iterative refinement capabilities, aiming to generate realistic and diverse anomalies. Specifically, AnomalyAgent is equipped with five tools: Prompt Generation (PG), Image Generation (IG), Quality Evaluation (QE), Knowledge Retrieval (KR), and Mask Generation (MG), enabling closed-loop optimization. To improve decision-making and self-reflection, we construct structured trajectories from real anomaly images and design a two-stage training framework: supervised fine-tuning followed by reinforcement learning. This process is driven by a three-part reward mechanism: (1) task rewards to supervise the quality and location rationality of generated anomalies; (2) reflection rewards to train the model's ability to improve anomaly synthesis prompt; (3) behavioral rewards to ensure adherence to the trajectory. On the MVTec-AD dataset, AnomalyAgent achieves IS/IC-L of 2.10/0.33 for anomaly generation, 57.0% classification accuracy using ResNet34, and 99.3%/74.2% AP at the image/pixel level using a simple UNet, surpassing all zero-shot SOTA methods. The code is publicly available at https://github.com/sssjmmm/AnomalyAgent.

Learning More by Training Less: Uncertainty-Guided Progressive Contraction for Efficient Reasoning Post-Training

Large language models have achieved remarkable advances in complex reasoning. However, scaling reasoning post-training with ever-larger corpora can substantially increase training cost without proportional performance gains. In this study, we therefore ask: how far can reasoning supervision be compressed without sacrificing capability? To this end, we propose an uncertainty-guided progressive contraction framework that concentrates supervision and optimization on the reasoning trajectories most valuable for learning. Specifically, rather than treating a teacher-generated chain-of-thought (CoT) as a single realized path, we construct uncertainty-profiled reasoning supervision by building Monte Carlo reasoning trees around intermediate reasoning states to expose process-level uncertainty. This uncertainty first contracts the original corpus into a compact teacher-informed pool. A second, learner-aware contraction then performs online routing during SFT, concentrating optimization according to the student's evolving learning state. Together, the two stages progressively contract both supervision and optimization, substantially reducing the student training budget. Experiments across diverse reasoning benchmarks and LLM families show that our method uses as little as 0.22% of the optimization budget of full-data SFT, over 450x less training exposure, while maintaining or improving reasoning performance. Notably, our framework generalizes well across heterogeneous student families, black-box teachers, and weak-to-strong transfer. This indicates that it is not only a way to accelerate training but can also enhance reasoning capability.

BoundaryEvo: Data-Model Co-Evolution at the Capability Boundary for Long-Chain Reasoning Distillation

Distilling long-chain reasoning trajectories from large teacher models provides an effective way to improve the reasoning ability of small language models. However, existing methods typically select a fixed training set before distillation, overlooking that the usefulness of a reasoning example changes as the student evolves. This mismatch becomes especially costly when only a small number of teacher trajectories can be used for training. Besides, examples already mastered provide little new supervision, while examples far beyond the capability of student may be difficult to learn from. Training data should therefore adapt as model capability evolves, yet reliable data selection is difficult when the student is initially weak. To address these challenges, our key idea is to first establish the basic reasoning capability and then adapt the training data to the evolving capability boundary of the student. We propose BoundaryEvo, a two-stage data--model co-evolution framework. In Capability Priming, we directly distill a small set of teacher-generated long reasoning trajectories without using a separate model to judge and filter them, allowing the student to acquire an initial reasoning capability before capability-aware data selection. In Capability-Boundary Co-Evolution, we repeatedly select questions that the current student has not mastered but the expert can reliably solve, and update the training data as the student evolves. With only 1,000 training examples, BoundaryEvo consistently outperforms static and dynamic data selection baselines across 11 reasoning benchmarks, raising the original Qwen3.5-4B accuracy from 62.9 to 75.3 on IMO-AnswerBench and from 26.8 to 46.0 on AMO-Bench. The code and data will be made publicly available.

DeViGrasp: Robust Visual Mobile Grasping for Quadruped Manipulators under Degraded Perception

Quadruped manipulators enable mobile grasping in complex environments, yet their whole-body control policies remain vulnerable to unreliable onboard visual perception. Existing methods are typically developed under relatively reliable observations and have not systematically examined how occlusion, segmentation-mask dropout, depth noise, and target-localization jitter affect grasp reasoning and target tracking. To address this gap, we introduce DeViGrasp-Bench, a benchmark for mobile grasping under degraded vision that incorporates controlled visual degradations, seen and unseen objects, multiple difficulty levels, and complex terrains, and evaluates task success, execution efficiency, and action smoothness. We further propose DeViGrasp-Net, a teacher--student framework that combines state-conditioned grasp reasoning with reliability-aware temporal target estimation. The privileged teacher attends to offline grasp candidates conditioned on object, robot, end-effector, and task states, while the deployable student fuses dual-view segmented-depth observations with current, memory, and recovery target hypotheses through Target Hold Memory and Temporal Memory Attention. DeViGrasp-Net outperforms VBC across degradation levels, unseen objects, and complex terrains, and surpasses an adapted DQ-Net across all evaluated degradation levels. Under the Difficult setting, it achieves a success rate of 62.3\%, improving upon VBC and DQ-Net by 16.1 and 4.3 percentage points, respectively; under the Hard setting, its margin over DQ-Net increases to 10.5 percentage points. Ablation studies confirm the complementary benefits of grasp-aware supervision and reliability-aware temporal memory.

MMTutorBench: The First Multimodal Benchmark for AI Math Tutoring

Effective math tutoring requires not only solving problems but also diagnosing students' difficulties and guiding them step by step. While multimodal large language models (MLLMs) show promise, existing benchmarks largely overlook these tutoring skills. We introduce MMTutorBench, the first benchmark for AI math tutoring, consisting of 685 problems built around pedagogically significant key-steps. Each problem is paired with problem-specific rubrics that enable fine-grained evaluation across six dimensions, and structured into three tasks-Insight Discovery, Operation Formulation, and Operation Execution. We evaluate 12 leading MLLMs and find clear performance gaps between proprietary and open-source systems, substantial room compared to human tutors, and consistent trends across input variants: OCR pipelines degrade tutoring quality, few-shot prompting yields limited gains, and our rubric-based LLM-as-a-Judge proves highly reliable. These results highlight both the difficulty and diagnostic value of MMTutorBench for advancing AI tutoring.

CMPhysBench: A Benchmark for Evaluating Large Language Models in Condensed Matter Physics

We introduce CMPhysBench, designed to assess the proficiency of Large Language Models (LLMs) in Condensed Matter Physics, as a novel Benchmark. CMPhysBench is composed of more than 520 graduate-level meticulously curated questions covering both representative subfields and foundational theoretical frameworks of condensed matter physics, such as magnetism, superconductivity, strongly correlated systems, etc. To ensure a deep understanding of the problem-solving process,we focus exclusively on calculation problems, requiring LLMs to independently generate comprehensive solutions. Meanwhile, leveraging tree-based representations of expressions, we introduce the Scalable Expression Edit Distance (SEED) score, which provides fine-grained (non-binary) partial credit and yields a more accurate assessment of similarity between prediction and ground-truth. Our results show that even the best models, Grok-4, reach only 36 average SEED score and 28% accuracy on CMPhysBench, underscoring a significant capability gap, especially for this practical and frontier domain relative to traditional physics. The code anddataset are publicly available at https://github.com/CMPhysBench/CMPhysBench.

Alcohol induced surface charging of colloidal quantum dots for controllable electrophoretic deposition processing

In this work, we report an alcohol-induced surface charging route of colloidal QDs to achieve controllable electrophoretic deposition processing. By adding a fixed amounts of alcohols into a preformed quantum dots solution in non-polar solvents, the colloidal quantum dots can be positively charged, and then deposited on negative electrode under applied electric field. The surface charging of PbSe quantum dots was investigated by zeta potential, nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and discrete Fourier transform calculations. It was found that the zeta potential of oleate acid capped PbSe QDs increases from +1.6 mV to +13.4 mV with the amount of alcohol solvent increasing. The alcohol-induced zeta potential increasing can be explained to the electron cloud shift of active hydrogen mediated by intermolecular hydrogen bonds between carboxy acid and alcohol. Considering the influence of surface charging of quantum dots on their dispersibility, we describe the microscopic mechanism of alcohol-induced electrophoretic deposition processing. Furthermore, we developed a size-selective separation protocol by controlling alcohol-induced electrophoretic deposition processing.

Deep Learning Models for Colloidal Nanocrystal Synthesis

Colloidal synthesis of nanocrystals usually includes complex chemical reactions and multi-step crystallization processes. Despite the great success in the past 30 years, it remains challenging to clarify the correlations between synthetic parameters of chemical reaction and physical properties of nanocrystals. Here, we developed a deep learning-based nanocrystal synthesis model that correlates synthetic parameters with the final size and shape of target nanocrystals, using a dataset of 3500 recipes covering 348 distinct nanocrystal compositions. The size and shape labels were obtained from transmission electron microscope images using a segmentation model trained with a semi-supervised algorithm on a dataset comprising 1.2 million nanocrystals. By applying the reaction intermediate-based data augmentation method and elaborated descriptors, the synthesis model was able to predict nanocrystal's size with a mean absolute error of 1.39 nm, while reaching an 89% average accuracy for shape classification. The synthesis model shows knowledge transfer capabilities across different nanocrystals with inputs of new recipes. With that, the influence of chemicals on the final size of nanocrystals was further evaluated, revealing the importance order of nanocrystal composition, precursor or ligand, and solvent. Overall, the deep learning-based nanocrystal synthesis model offers a powerful tool to expedite the development of high-quality nanocrystals.
