Okamoto Transformations relating Equivariant Instanton Bundles via Painleve VI

We compute explicit solutions $\Lambda^\pm_m$ of the Painleve VI (PVI) differential equation from equivariant instanton bundles $E_m$ corresponding to Yang-Mills instantons with "quadrupole symmetry." This is based on a generalization of Hitchin's logarithmic connection to vector bundles with an $SL_2({\mathbb C})$ action. We then identify explicit Okamoto transformation which play the role of "creation operators" for construction $\Lambda^\pm_m$ from the "ground state" $\Lambda^\pm_0$, suggesting that the equivariant instanton bundles $E_m$ might similarly be related to the trivial "ground state" $E_0$.

On the Structural Theorem of Persistent Homology

We study the categorical framework for the computation of persistent homology, without reliance on a particular computational algorithm. The computation of persistent homology is commonly summarized as a matrix theorem, which we call the Matrix Structural Theorem. Any of the various algorithms for computing persistent homology constitutes a constructive proof of the Matrix Structural Theorem. We showthat the Matrix Structural Theorem is equivalent to the Krull-Schmidt property of the category of filtered chain complexes. We separately establish the Krull-Schmidt property by abstract categorical methods, yielding a novel nonconstructive proof of the Matrix Structural Theorem. These results provide the foundation for an alternate categorical framework for decomposition in persitent homology, bypassing the usual persistence vector spaces and quiver representations.

Frobenius Manifolds from Yang-Mills Instantons

We present an elementary self-contained account of semisimple Frobenius manifolds in three dimensions, and exhibit a new family of explicit examples. These examples are constructed from Yang-Mills instantons with a certain symmetry.
